Sure. Bike got off abruptly in a corner today and i almost lost control It might be because of low fuel. Gotta maintain 3 litres from now.

      Hello everyone,

I am the newest member here. I am a rookie in biking, infact i am still in learning phase.
I have planned to buy a bike for me, and after so much reading over this forum and other calculations, covering as many scenarios i can, i finally ended up on RS 200.
But being a learner, i have lot of queries which i need help from you guys. Please help me over these.

I have 100s of questions, but i want some specifics to be answered on first hand.

1.) I have started learning bike over a month ago, and i have rode light bikes only, mostly my brother's Stunner which is merely 125 cc n 135 kg but now immediately shifting to 200 cc and 167 kg bike, will i be able to do justice to it? Would i be able to cope up sudden change or it will go very hard for me?

2.) Which version should i buy, ABS or Non-ABS, given fact, being learner i avoid driving over 40kmph, so what would make sense, ABS or Non-ABS?

3.) I have been reading about lot of failures in RS 200, mostly failure in alloys, stating heavy frontal mass shift over it, but going through this forum, i got to know that mass in centralized well in RS, so how much the news are true?

4.) Is the bike still have long waiting period? And how come i will know while buying that it is the latest batch of their factory production (where they have solved the recent defects being encountered by the owners in initial phase of launch)?

5.) Any advice from you all guys, given i am rookie, over the bike as well as how i will be able to cope changes from low power bikes to high power?

There are lot of questions, but these are the ones, i need answers for now. Please help me ASAP.

        Welcome buddy!!
1.) You can go ahead and get rs 200. for first few months Its upto you to hold that Rush which makes you to ride hard. Dont loose your temper when RX 100 guys tries to race you .. Stay cool and learn the road. Then it gonna be fun for sure.
2.) Go for ABS.. It gonna save you during rainy season. Mine is ABS and i tired to brake it hard on rainy day in smooth cement road. it works like charm. Dont think of extra 14 k. You will not regret it. Not sure about your 3rd question
        4) I got my bike in just 10 days ( Chennai )

From the looks of it, he went straight into a manhole-sized crater or something and at a high speed. No bike would be able to withstand that.

Sir, going over a manhole sized crater would not break the rims like this. They will bend. The rims are designed that way. I have seen a accident wherein a Pulsar 150 rear ended a Car at high speed. Front rims was bent, but did not break. I Suspect poor quality of rims or manufacturing defect.

Looks like a fake claim to me.
Here is the Facebook id of the person making this claim https://m.facebook.com/mohsin.patel.3720

The fb ID itself looks fake with no details of the person nor any of his pics.
Further if you look closely at the bike pics, you will notice that the tyre is absolutely intact which shouldn't have been the case with such an incident.

I agree with you, under no circumstances it is acceptable that the wheel breaks this badly. Bajaj should give it a serious second thought or it will end up like the TATA's(Infamous for bad quality even though they own reputed foreign brands).

But I just cannot understand how the rims are cracking, I own a pulsar 180 ug4 and once while riding on a water flooded road I mistakenly took it in a man hole about a inch deep, but it didn't break and I was driving at a speed of 50 kmph and this is the worst I remember.

Seems like a weak point in the construction of the alloy rims, Have to be careful next time. But I wish we could sue these companies so that they don't dare to play with us or our beloved one's lives.

People this why riding gear is Important.

Hey guys! Done with 500 Kms. and going for the first service tomorrow. The SVC I'm planning to go to opens up at 9.30 AM, so I'm thinking of dropping in right at that time to be the first customer. Because I want to be there while the bike gets serviced and want to bring it back right then. I don't want to leave it to be picked up in the evening, as I have other stuff to take care of.

What I want to know is - How much time does it take for a first service? Do they let you watch the whole process?

                    Any tips will be appreciated.

                    Thanks.

Dude, this guy and his wife are in the hospital. Its high time we stop being fanatic about brands and raise concern where it matters and show some empathy. Wheels cracking like this is not good. By design it should bend if the impact is too strong. Spokes shearing off like this is not a good sign.

Have you visited the Facebook profile I linked?? It looks fake the moment you visit.
Furthermore the pictures alone cannot confirm the certainty of accident. Read on the motoroids report on this, a thorough inspection needs to be done on the matter and if it is Bajaj's fault, serious action should be taken against them and if it is a false claim to degrade company's name, then company should sue this person too for spoiling the brand image.
Nevertheless, it's too early to say anything but the FB profile of the owner certainly looks fake.

Hitting a flat object differs a lot from a sharp one. As I said it looks like a fall into a crater. I've seen an Activa going over a pot hole at 50 kmph, the rider lost control after going over the pot hole. It looked like The forks were broken and the front wheel was pushed back to leg rest.

I accidently went through a pothole at 80 kmph (Didnt expect one on NH roads :P) with my ns. Heard a loud sound and i stopped there and checked for damages and there was nothing, not even any bends. The alloy of this RS might had some manufacturing defects and bajaj should seriously improve their quality control as this would matter the life of people

Thanks for your valuable comments, i have still some more doubts,

Firstly, how much change will it make from shifting to low weight bike to a heavy weight, doest it make impact on control, braking and other stuffs, given the fact i am learner!!

Secondly, how come i will know while buying that it is the latest batch of their factory production (where they have solved the recent defects being encountered by the owners in initial phase of launch)?

Well u would feel a little hard to control in slow speeds but will get used to it and would feel the bike more stable in high speeds
and yea go easy with the throttle

well check the VIN number on the bike
the 8th and 10th alphabet tells the month and year of the bike
