Thanka guys for the explanation of side panel mounting pain. Would it be fine to drive around 300 or 400 kms without getting it fixed, since i would be busy for next 4 days with work.

These ass## took my whole Christmas weekend.

        2) Regarding stalling issue, i saw lots of customers reporting this within SVC. Their were owners of Pulsar , discover, etc who had the same issue. For mine they were unable to understand the issue, but the mechanic opened the bike and cleaned everything. He doubted that there is some condition in which petrol supply is cut off and hence the bike stalls. He had cleaned everything yesterday and checked the engine as well. Things looked Ok to him and after all the cleaning, have not experienced the issue yet.

Overall, the bike is a mess to open for them and then again close it. But the issue was quite serious to me since my main driving is on highways and i can't afford bike to stall suddenly. I will post an update on this stalling issue after few hundred KM's and see if it happens again.

P.S- I cried when the bike was fully opened in front of me. Mechanic told me "Sir, that's why we don't allow customers inside here, but since you insisted." After that he told me to go back and sit, else i won't be able to see.

        ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

And if anyone has their story of getting their RS 200 opened completely and then post checklist, please tell what all things i should take care of. Rode for around 6kms, checked all indicators, headlights, braking and other necessary things. Please let me know if any member has anything to share.

Also the spare parts of our bikes are so hard to come by. No side mirror available in my area. Would have to go and see in Gurgaon now. In case you need a spare part, go advance to SVC and order it before hand.
Why Bajaj, Why, it's lame they can't open and fix it easily and hence crib... These is what Steve Jobs said once "Design is not what it looks like, it's how it works" And he was right...

The stalling issue is a pain in the a** now. Do keep us posted on that. Why were you not in a position to see the bike opened? Is it fit of the panels perfect after having it opened?

There is sound coming near the right mirror side of vibration. Please let me know if need some more pics od this thing.
Bajaj svc mechanics are to blame here, you go to the guy who told you, not to watch the assembly and disassembly during service. Dont bash him but in a friendly way show him the pin. Make friends in svc always no enemies.

Its easy to remove the fairing i ve done it myself to clean mud on engine,
ll post pictures if it rains n go offroad!!

The ASC guys are lazy as## and they dont have patience n they treat all bikes same,
In their sense Platina = RS200 (diffrence is just fairing and extra 100CC)

Looks good. Proceed with caution. Be careful while removing the stickers so that you don't damage the paint underneath.
:-) nothing special buddy...just to carry small things. Yes, seats are pretty comfy now. Actually, the original seats are quite hard and sometimes they create numbness in my left leg while riding in Delhi traffic...now they are comfortable...

Thanks bro, These stickers are easily removable. Some glue remains on the paint which is washable....actually, I didn't liked the stickers...now it looks cool.

Oh I get it now. Thanks for clearing that out!

Did you remove the stickers after applying heat or did you just remove them?

                        Instead of replacing stock headlamps,
Borrow accessory led lamps from Kawasaki or Triumph!!
                        Are u sure they are h11 & h9
I have never heard of h9 size before

Thanks all for prompt responses everyone. This forum is one of the BEST things that i have came across after buying my bike. Kudos to all members of this group.

On the pin, they fixed it by opening and getting the following parts (quoting directly from bill):

                          NUT-WELL-M5 -2
                          CLAMP(45 to 48)- 1

After that things seem to be fine. Just gotta replace that left side mirror now in gurgaon probably. Please let me know if anyone needs any clarification on all the issues i faced so far. Would be happy to help.

On the stalling issue, have not faced it yet. Touchwood!

                            Hello everyone. ..

I have heard and experienced about incorrect fuel meter reading. ... I have come to one solution. ... before starting your bike just sit on it to make it stand straight as it does not have doubled stand.... and then start kill switch on your bike..... you will see that it shows correct fuel level..

                                Hi XBHPians,

I am a newbie here and this is my first post. I have been in a self imposed exile from the motorcycling ecosystem for last 4 years , mainly due to my over reliance on a charming Chevy Beat that was easy to maneuver around in a place like Chandigarh and offered really good FE on diesel. Prior that I have been a frequent commuter on my faithful partner, a Honda CBF Stunner 125CC which I thoroughly used for in city and touring purposes.

Then, the destiny had it say. I moved to Mumbai and this is when I felt need of a two-wheeler instantly. Some friends / family members suggested, as I am married now, that Activa would be ideal candidate as it is effortless to drive, can be used by wife and is suitable to run errands. However in my mind that was never an option .

The old traits of a biker gave a knock on my consciousness and I actively started looking for a bike that would suit my stature (I am 6 feet / heavily built), is ergonomically comfortable and also satisfy long oppressed yearning for speed & revs. As I would be regularly using it for office commute and occasional highway stint, linear power delivery and mid range performance was a priority. First option which came to my mind (being a hardcore Punjabi) was RE Classic 350. Test drove the same and, to be honest, wasn't very much happy. High amount of vibrations coupled with long waiting period and high maintenance was a deal breaker . This is when I decided to drop my pre-set notion and explore the market.

Next in line was CBR 150R, it seemed a bit over priced and also the committed stance made me pass on the same. Post that, I tried Karizma ZMR (did not understand the aesthetic sense behind this design, MEAN NO OFFENSE TO ANYONE), R15 (amazing refinement / fit-finish however too sporty a riding position along with uncomfortable pillion seat). All this meant that I should extended my search further.

Read some reviews about Gixxer SF and test drove the same. Really liked the seating position and ride-ability in city. It had the required grunt I was looking for and also the design to suit my body type. However wifey wasn't too much impressed. Her major apprehension was that I recently bought a buzz blue Tata Zest and that Gixxer SF Moto GP version has the same color tone . In addition to that, I did not like the white & black color options so this resulted in a stalemate.

In the mean time I was thoroughly going through reviews / ownership reports of other bikes which may be a worthy candidate and came across this thread. Was instantly hooked to the same and spent couple of days in going through all the posts. With each passing moment, my affinity towards the bike grew. Called up the nearest showroom, obtained details and confirmed availability of the test drive. Visited the dealership on following weekend and felt the bike in flesh. Took a couple of KM test drive, was more or less satisfied and the best part was that wifey also gave her affirmation on styling and color . Booked the bike yellow 'bumblebee' version instantly and paid the balance in next couple of days.

As the bike was available in stock, there was no waiting period and the delivery was given once all formalities were complete. I have rode it for 75 KM till now and have few queries, that I would like the members to assist me with-

                                1. What is the optimal engine breaking-in pattern / schedule I should follow taking engine's health & longevity as primary aim? I have ready many contrasting replies on this thread as a result posting it here for final confirmation.

                                2. Do I need to change to Motul Engine Oil after first service or keep following the prescribed Bajaj DTS-I mineral oil till 4K KM?

                                3. If anyone is from Thane, let me know a good place to buy nice sturdy helmet & gloves (the one I have presently is a simple ISI mark and not very much comfortable) along with other accessories such as bike cell phone holder.

                                Regards,
                                Abhey
