Yes, and the real pain is, to adjust valve clearance every 5000 Km's, again we have to remove the seats, tank cover, tank & air-box.

I feel the biggest drawback of 200NS/AS/RS engine must be the lack of DOHC setup. Bajaj could have charged us10K more and retained DOHC setup.

You believe the CBR250R DOHC does better here?

Yep, most probably it does.

Because

1) CBR250R has standard quality & well engineered components, less prone to wear & tear.

2) Honda engineering & design in the CBR250R engine

The CBR250R engine is not pushed to its maximum mechanical limits by Honda. CBR250R engine can make upto 40BHP once its redesigned & pushed to its mechanical limits. The current configuration stands 25BHP, is actual in its relaxed state.

But whereas Bajaj has pressurized the AS/NS/RS engine by limiting to SOHC configuration & with slightly reduced quality to meet affordable price point. Regardless of all that, in practical sense & In our Indian conditions, a CBR250R still will be complicated to maintain & service when compared AS/NS/RS. Spare parts will be expensive (200% the price of Bajaj) & not easily available too.

But aren't we seeing poor build quality and other issues with the RS already and spare parts already not being available?

Hi Guys,
Am looking to modify my Pulsar 200 NS,
Modifications am currently looking for -
1. Headlight
2. Exhaust.

My Queries:
What Headlight setup should i go for ?
LED, HID or HID with projector ?
Expectations:
Light should be powerful enough for Night time riding and Highways.
Light should not disturb any on coming vehicles.
The setup should not get burnt or drain battery completely.

What exhaust should i go for ?
Expectations:
Should look good and should not make noise which threatens or disturbs other riders. ( Not a cop magnet as well)

Budget: No issues. ( Can burn up to 10 or 15 k if the parts are the best )

I currently live in Velachery (Chennai) and i dont know any shops nearby who could help me with this or do modifications. So i am planning to go to Pudhupettai today, but i dont know any shops there too.
Please provide suggestions on the setups and shops which i could go for. If i could add more mods in that budget, please suggest them too. Thanks in advance.

Well said, you spoke my mind. When ns was praised for everything, whole media criticized the lack of FI and DOHC which Duke had. But then there is no point in selling ns and Duke being both naked, both will performe de same, then none will buy costlier Duke.

So they played the game well, they had to remove some from pulsar to keep it a level down to Duke and SP low(about 50K). Maybe this could be an agreement with KTM too, we don't know for sure, but it looks so true if we are to believe media.

Now CBR250 on the other hand, has top quality, a premium product. That doesn't mean no issues at all, but issues like tappet adjustment, overheating, calibration error, etc will be minimal.

But this Indian version of cbr250 unfortunately isn't an aggressive make and hence lost its battle with KTM. Another problem is, anything with Honda tag is always damn costly. Though they justify the quality, but most Indians wont be a pray for that. That's the reason why duke and pulsars sell more than this jap.

But now things are changing and we are getting more and more competition from various makers including BMW. Even big makers are coming down for single cylinder which is a good welcoming move. Hope this also helps improve our Indian companies like Bajaj to improve quality and durability.

Poor quality has always been there with Bajaj, but the beauty here is, it makes up for the initial low cost investment. You might save up to 10-20% of vehicles cost if you buy Bajaj product.

]Offtopic:]
For example, when i bought Disco125 disc, it cost me 56500/- in year 2011. I had shine as my first choice though it cost was 63,000/- disc version, but due to heavy demand and 3 month waiting period, I came to know Bajaj is the only one who gives delivery in two days, plus Hero (well i got it in three two days [emoji9]).

So i saved ~7000/- in 2011, but sold mine in 2014 for just 22k, where as the selling price of shine was still 32-34k, so that was a loss after all, plus battery replacement, engine issues, etc cost me more.

But the newer version pulsars are better compared to old gen, which made me choose Bajaj again.

Point is, even ktm india lacks in front of jap sadly.

Ns or rs?. Asked because this question came in rs forum [emoji6]
Funs apart, i live in madipakkam, own ns. I am the one among many who burnt their money in listening to HID fancy looks. Please, never buy it. Don't go to pudupet. You can check my posts, might be around apr/may 2015 i think. I had explained very detailed about my experience.

Some disadvantages
1. Other rides trouble
2. Loosing warranty
3. You will lose your headlight reflector too. To bring it back to stock, you need to shell out 2000/- (which i did recently)
4. Many duplicates are there
5. Cheap brands last short, might result in burns too.

If you need HID whatsoever:
But Phillips or hella brands which cost 6-7k. Never but Chinese items in pudupet

Led vs HID:
Led is waste, just takes 1/8 th of the power that's all

Best option:
100w bulb H4 halogen setup with relay and wiring setup. Im yet to do it.

--> Go to GP road, mount road. Don't go to pudupet. Avoid Sunday, all places will be very crowded...

Hi guys,

I wanted to confirm the grade of engine oil (mineral) for RS200. I've read that the specifics of oil are SAE 20W50. Kindly validate and also let me know the quantity of the same required to be put in bike.

Regards,

Well said bro... raghavs ... Light modification with the NS i feel should be restricted to only a higher wattage bulb being used.

Personally, i have never seen a happy owner with an HID / LED light mod on the NS. You lose way more than you gain.

2. Gear shift from 2nd to 3rd is bit hard. This might be due to new engine.
3. The bike reached 141kmph as max speed for me. (As of now)

and i asked svc about this they said it's normal and all RS having the same issue coz of exhaust design and during first service they just washed and changed the oil and said we won't open any part of bike (not even for cleaning) before 30k kms

i asked them to replace but they said it's not possible and we can't. i asked them what if i tried to replace they said then you will Loose warranty of battery and wiring of bike.
don't know what to do... even i have brand new Gps locator for bike worth 1.8k (imported one) but still useless now
