  • Re: Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 Owners Review and Experience

I've been reading this thread for sometime now and I noticed that around over 60% owners of the RS 200 are not really happy with their bikes..

I also see many ads for the RS 200 everywhere - owners are selling this bike left right and center. So far, I have read about vibrations, clunky gear box and engine, chain rattling and poor service - Is this common for everyone?

What's going on guys? Can you please shed some light on why you're selling your rides so quickly?

No need for third bike, My RS has the exact same sound and the exhaust sounds out of sync too just like in your video, made several trips to SVC and gave up.

      Its definitely the tappets.

Hi guys.. This is my first post in this thread..
At present am not a RS owner.. But soon in future I wish to have that machine in my porch.. I had read almost this thread and as xodus99 has said, almost all owners are saying about the bike having this and that problem.. This had shed a dark light against my wish of buying RS..
So guys, as my heart is still standing for that machine, please do say whether it would be a good or bad decision if I buy the RS..

The yellow RS has more prominent tappet noise than the black one.

The reason why SVC dont set them is: RS200 needs fairings, tank, air-box opened up to access engine head. SVC dont have talented mechs, & they might do something wrong.

Therefore they avoid doing any work altogether.

RS200 is value for money just go for it. Yes there are issues but they are not major ones. I've been using RS 200 for past 6months and it never let me down.

All machines have their own problems , u have to correct them .
There is some misleading faith regarding bajaj bikes like they have cheap parts etc but its totally wrong.
Bajaj ASS is not so good , so u have to rectify the minor problems yourself. That's all.
                  The choice is yours .

Not facing any issues as such mate.
Have covered quite some distance and used this bike to head to all sorts of places without any problem at all

Thanks bro I already tried that. But they seem to be scared to open the fairing. I'm still thinking what to do now.

                        Thanks a lot guys!

The problem now is the dealer is refusing to open up the bike. He says he will do so at 20K Kms now, and he also mentioned that it should go away with time. Will it go away?

The mechanic's are not trained properly and therefore I myself am hesitant to let them open my bike up.

No other SVC in my city. Nearest SVC is Panvel/Thane. Should I go there? Is it worth it?

Thanks again guys for the replies!

please shoot an email to bajaj with the video and that the svc is refusing to fix it.
it definitely looks like it needs at-least a valve clearance and timing adjustment. only after doing this basic fix will you be able to know if its resolved or needs further looking into.
You guys need to take up the complaints with the company on time with proof. keep it in writing and watch the magic happen.
the svc (irrespective of brand) most of the times try to avoid doing such repairs because it eats up time and they don't make money from u (considering its in warranty) and the customers are equally to blame because most of them are not very mechanically inclined and tend to believe things such as 'it will be ok after 1st svc'

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll mail Bajaj and attach the video also and see if it helps.

I do hope they send someone trained properly to work on our bikes or at least train the existing staff to meet the standards. The guys in my SVC are basically just used to working older Pulsar's (old 150, 180, 220) so I don't know if they are certified to work on the RS 200.

I'll let you guys if I find a solution.

To adjust tappet they wont need any extra skills,
If you know how to disassemble the fairing and fuel tank and have gauge you can do it yourself..!!

sorry if i sound arrogant, but if they can do it on pulsar's it should be similar on the rs200. i assume the rs200 has the commonly found nut type adjustment and not the shims as found on the ktm's/cbr's. even then its still a basic procedure that they should be able to handle.
pl try to get hold of the workshop manual that might be lying around in the workshop to find the right clearance values and have it adjusted correctly. maybe even the owners manual might have the spec for valve clearances.. dont let them adjust it randomly based on their 'feel' (they might get it right but dont take a risk)

but do shoot a complaint to bajaj.. be polite but firm.
