• Serious advice needed regarding fuel issue

Guys...
Which petrol should I use on my pulsar rs200(still in run in period) the speed from bharat petroleum or the normal unleaded or the power?

I usually upshit in that case .But this problem is really annoying.
For the fairing vibrations at low rpm:
The fairings have a resonance at that rpm. Everyone's RS has those vibes. More so during initial stages since we don't go to higher rpm often. Easier solution would be to tighten the Allen screws on the fairing yourself every couple of 100kms. There are two Allen key given in the tool kit. Use those yourself and tighten the screws around the console and handle bar and use the star screw driver and tighten those on the windshield. This is a temporary solution which u have to follow every couple of 100km. After initial couple of 1000km completed on odo this issue will not pop up often since u will ride at higher r often and also the engine smoothens out a bit. Permanent solution would be to fit bush/washers in all screws on the fairing. U have to ask the service guys to do it. But we all know how much afraid they are regarding the fairing.

Could you please elaborate how speed/v petrol will do damage during running in. I am aware that they contain some additives. But, will that damage the engine in run in. I am curious to understand this.

Approved and merged!

You already have a discussion going on here. Why create a new thread?
Speed/Power etc are the same normal unleaded RON 91 petrol with some additives. They aren't RON 93 or 95 fuel. They are (higher octane) available at designated petrol bunks in the city (only metros).
Now, if you want to run (run in or even later) your bike with fuel + additives, its completely your prerogative. The engine isn't harmed in any way. Just make sure that you get the injectors cleaned every 20k km as a preventive measure.

In my case it happened unfortunately. Even I have got the same issue symptoms with hp power petrol.svc suggested me to use only unleaded normal petrol. I have pictures of my dirty throttlebody when the bike had only 1300kms on odo and ran only on speed petrol. Petrol with additional additives doesn't burns well thus leaves residues. Speed or power petrols are not high octane petrols.these are only nomal petrols with additives. Speed 97 is the only high octane petrol available here in india I guess.ktm and bajaj service engineers are saying not to use any kind of fuel additives .

Issue could be of particular petrol pump because i fill mostly speed from BP on my R3 and previously D390 and R15 haven't faced any issues with that. Try filling from another petrol pump.

From the same petrol pump I fill speed in my car.i don't have any issue with that.after watching the condition of throttlebody and cleaning it at the svc I stopped filling speed petrol .the problem just vanished.after some days I started filling power petrol from a coco pump.that same problem started to creep in.i again visited showroom and cleaned the throttlebody. From then using normal petrol and no isssues so far.may be this kinda particular issue happend with me .a well skilled ktm engineer said me to fill normal fuel only.they were asked from the company training days for not to use any fuel additives. Even I saw in ktm manual to avoid fuel additives.

Ohh
Now onwards I'll use only the normal petrol and will also clarify this topic in the svc next time when I'll go there.
And I have one more doubt(out of topic) too the svc guys of honda told me that I can put speed petrol in my activa,it's better. You tell guys should I use it pr avoid it permanently for my two wheelers.

They told me to change the petrol pump and fill only unleaded normal petrol afterwards I have no such issues.
In my experience (as I've stated earlier) using speed petrol the bike seems more responsive. Using normal fuel the bike gives a snatchy low end. It jerks and cough's as if it's about to die. That's why I've been using speed ever since. I avoid HP fuel as I've felt that theirs is usually of low quality and the bike behaves very in a very weird manner if HP is used.

Maybe you can try a different pump and then check if you feel a difference?

Also, if I understand correctly the throttle body is located underneath the tank. Removing the tank and complete fairing is required for cleaning the throttle body right? How much time did it take when you had this done?

Thanks guys.

Guys a suggested the throttle body is the culprit ☺
Good thing we were able to find it out.
With speed it has additives which helps in better combustion.but the problem is single cylinder can't burn it properly.its because the fuel is not getting burnt, which damages the throttle body. emm please try with shell.you will know what I am trying to say.

Hey All,

Thanks a lot for making this thread so very informative. I guess there are so many things in this thread from people's experience that most service center guyz might nt have any idea abt. Atleast now I will be able to understand something if something goes wrong with the bike.

I got my RS200 in Dec and sadly have been able to do 500km only as I was not having a valid two wheeler license previously. last week I faced a problem which seems to me like a design issue to me. during the rides, due to the uneven road surface the front lower steel brake hose got bent for its inability to absorb the shocks while the fork was at play. Forgot to mention that in ABS variants, the front brake hose is in two sections for ABS to work.

Upon some googling around found this issue with some others too.

As it seems like a design issue, I dont think that replacing it is the solution. I am thinking of using a little longer hose and make a loop like structure so that it can absorb the bumps easily with out breaking.

Issue faced due to this- I was unaware of the situation that the hose was choking. I was riding on a city freeway at around 60kmph. tried to overtake a truck but didnt feel confident as another car was approaching from the front, so I applied the front break(with abs) a bit hard(no so hard to lock it) for a split second and when I let go of the lever, the brake didnt release and in a matter of max 2-3seconds, I was dead stop in the middle of the highway and I am lucky enough that the vehicles behind me were not in a straight line to me or else I wouldnt have been here today...v scary...when the cars and bikes went past me like a shooting star...

here is a pic to show what exactly the brake hose looks like with the issue-Click image for larger version

One more thing to note imo, when the fluid line is choked, the fluid's free flow is disrupted and as a result ABS might not work at all. So, be very careful with this issue on the roads. once brake is applied it takes considerable time to release the brake and get bak to normal, but is sufficient to cause serious damages to the rider. It could also be the scenario that one locks up the breaks and when it doesnt release in time, you know of the consequences...

I am a very new bike rider and an experienced Scooter rider. this is my first bike. So, please correct me if my understanding needs any correction and also do share your views on the issue and suggestions to rectify it in such a manner that things like this dont happen so easily.

I have posted a solution to this,
I think you haven't noticed that,
Remove 1 hose holding bracket under triple-T.
