Re: Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 Owners Review and Experience
No need to change it now. Change it at 1000kms If you feel roughness in the engine. You ask the service centre guy to change the oil in front of you. For 1st 5000 km while changing the oil, change the oil filter also. It may have metal particles. After 5000kms switch it to synthetic oil. Also keep in mind while downshifting if the rpm is high dont change it. Let the rpm comes down and downshift the gear. To adjust the suspension you have to go to service centre.Originally posted by sevendustankit View Post

Go for servicing after 500KMS, change the engine oil outside and not in showroom.
They won't replace the oil, showroom fellas will just do topup..which is bad for bike's engine.Originally posted by sevendustankit View PostGuys seriously I just had my rs200 serviced it says on the bill engine oil change so should I change the oil from outside also or let it be...I think at 500km oil has to be replaced, its written on the manual clearly. they only do top up at 5k km.Originally posted by Sharma Ji View PostBrother what does 'rev' mean?
And seriously I am gonna stay a far away from stunts.
And will you elaborate the engine oil issue plz.
You mean that I have to drain the previous one first and then fill with the new one?
Also if you do not do the oil change at the recommended period and if you dont use DTSi oil, then bajaj will certainly void tour warranty, they clearly repeat that point on all their free service leaflets.
However,
like in my case ,depending on the service center if they allow you to use whatever oil of your choice without making a not of noise then your a luck guy.
In my case my service center used motul 3100 gold(semi synthetic) by default and if we want full synthetic they use motul 7100. They said they would entertain other oils only if it is of 20w50 grade. They dont make any issue.
If your service center insists to use bajaj oil then you can change the oil in between services using a local mechanic and go for your regular oil change and the repeat the process. it would be slightly more costly though, since you would be paying for their DTSi oil as well as your own oil.
I advice you to use the DTSi oil that they replace at 500 km and switch over to semi synthetic at 1.5 k km and then make sure at 5k km they dont top up your existing oil. then you can safely use semi synthetic oil every 3k km or go full synthetic.
Do all of the above if you really want to avoid bajaj DTSi oil, its a pain to avoid it if your service center is stubborn. Else try and find another service center that is not so rigid to your demands.
Happy riding.

Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 Owners Review and HORRIBLE Experience....
Guys, I am beginning to think that I made a wrong choice in buying this bike. Though on paper and preliminary test ride, this bike feels excellent value for money, the ownership experience of mine is not really encouraging me to suggest this bike. I have followed precisely all the instructions to maintain the bike in good form from the minute I got it out of the showroom.
1. Followed running in period instructions so that the engine sets in up to 5000km.
2. Lubricate chain every 500km.
3. Periodic service as per the service manual.
4. Ride in a sane way.
The first thing that gave a hint was rattling of fearing. After 1000-1200km, the front fairing on the left side of the bike started to rattle a bit. I thought its just one of the cases where the fitment is not done properly and adjusted it by placing a small rubberband between the two plastic parts that were making the noise. Then the rattling started from the right side after 2000km. The same solution did the trick. After 3000km, the front glass started to rattle just above the meter console. This really pissed me off. Though I had told the service engineer to check the fitment of the fairing during the service, it was not done. Then weird sounds started coming from under the meter console. This sounds like loose bolts. This was also told to the service engineer when I gave the bike for service at 4500km. Nothing was rectified and it continues to be there even now at 7500km.
Just hold on, the troubles are just starting here. At 4450km, my bike started acting in a weird way. First, the clock was reset. Then the trip meters. The fuel gauge started to show wrong reading of fuel volume in the tank. This problem started in the morning when I was going to my work place. It a really a long day and I left for home at 1am in the night. While going back, I had the same problem. Except that, after 2-3 km into my journey back home, which is 27km, the horn started to fade, headlights became dim. Engine light started to flicker. I stopped the bike to see if there are any loose connections, unfortunately I could not even get close to any of the wiring. There was an obvious burning smell too because i could feel the engine overheating. Checked the fuel and saw that atleast 4-5 liters of fuel was there. However, I thought the bike should atleast take me back home. I started the bike again and the bike felt really in a bad shape. Throttle response was bad and it was like as if fuel was going to go below reserve limit or as if there was no proper petrol flow to the engine. At the time when ghosts will be partying, I didnt think of any service centers to be open to take my bike there. Not even dogs were there on the road and I felt I had to just leave my bike there and take the cab back for the rest of 20km journey. However, I managed to ride the bike in the devastated state it was it for about 12 km until it gave up. At this point, I seriously thought of selling this bike and buying a basic 150cc bike, like unicorn or FZ or Gixxer. Next day morning, however the bike started in the same condition and i managed to ride it to the nearest Bajaj service station. They took 2 days to service it. The reason they gave was that there was one fuse that was burnt and nothing else. I wonder why they took 2 days to replace a fuse. The bike was anyway back on track. The rattling obvious remains though.
The next incident was today morning. As told earlier, my house is 27km from my work place. 20km into the heavy Bengaluru traffic, with a few high revving kms, the bike again started to cough. I saw the meter console and High Temperature light was glowing. I managed to pulled over and waited for about 2-3 mins with engine turned off. I turned on the ignition and the light was off. Bike was back to normal. I started riding it in low RPM till I reached office. I am really frustrated and seriously thinking of selling this bike now. I am really concerned about the reliability of this bike considering the time of the day and night I travel. I paid like 1.53 lakh and get stranded in the middle of the night in pitch dark area or in the middle of an insane traffic in the middle of the road.
Please suggest any other bike to replace this bike. I guess KTM Duke will also have the same problem so thinking of alternatives.

I am also from Bangalore. My bike is 28 days old. We cannot trust service centre guys. I hope you have checked the coolant level everything. I was looking for RS 200 detailed manual to understand myself in case of any emergency I can repair it myself. But I could not find any detailed manual. In heavy traffic, within 15 mins the engine becomes very hot and radiator is getting on.
If they do proper service most of the issues will vanish.
Your experience really making me sad. I had pulsar 220. P220 gave vibration problem so I switched to RS.
You can go for bikes which don't use radiators. Gixxer gearing is bit hard. FZ is very smooth but you may need to sacrifice the 3 digit speeds. Old unicorn was best not the new one.Last edited by 2008venkatesh; 02-10-2016, 03:42 PM.

Sad to hear. IMHO Selling it might not be the solution, as its resale would not be good. Most Fuel Injected bikes can face such problem. In my opinion, the inability of the SVC's to understand digital and analog electronics for FI system, only aggravates it more. Not just bikes, even 4 wheelers also suffer because of incompetent SVC's in terms of electronics knowledge.
Since the problem is now resolved, get the bike checked up by a senior service technician/engineer in your presence. Maintain the bike periodically. And enjoy riding.

+1 to resale comment. Resale value is not good, trust me. If you enquire about selling price of this bike in market, you will be offered such a price that you would want to keep it in your garage or on open road but not sell.Originally posted by jetsetgo08 View PostHi sandeep,

Another issue that i feel is lack of proper knowledge amongst service center guys and their willingness to open the bike and fix issues. I have the tappet settings out of bounds as of now and it's not fixed yet. The SVC guys are just too reluctant to open bike and get into the mess and fix it. I am going to look for some better alternative rather than servicing at bajaj SVC in Gurgaon, who are willing to fix things up.
If any of you can suggest a mechanic or a great SVC who can service properly and fix issues, please do let me know. ThanksLast edited by nayan_jindal; 02-10-2016, 05:10 PM.

Re: Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 Owners Review and Experience
I would never neglect regular maintenance of bike. However, I dont see these kind of issues happening for Karizma ZMR (which I owned for 4 year and 44000km) or R15 or CBR150R/CBR250R. I would definitely call it reliability issue from Bajaj.
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
I definitely agree with you. After sale service of Bajaj is horrible. Service engineers are not trained properly. Also, their attitude towards resolving customers' problem is bad. This is one of the biggest drives for me to sell my bikeOriginally posted by nayan_jindal View Post+1 to resale comment. Resale value is not good, trust me. You are sayin rev it hardOriginally posted by milan2377 View Postsharmaji... rev means open the throttle upto rpm limit light glows...accelerate more in every gear.
For engine oil..during your any servicing DONT CHANGE ENGINE OIL IN SHOWROOM. You never know what they are using and are they really changing it with new oil???
Change the oil from a local mechanic always, use a semi-synthetic or full synthetic engine oil. This will ensure your bike's engine (heart) is pumped with pure oil n fresh every 3500KMS.
But somewhere in this thread I had read that we should not cross a certain rpm limit.
