    When should i change it?

    Thank you! ☺
I would advise you to change the oil now since the drain interval for 7100 is 4500-5000 km. It's better to be safe now rather than being sorry later.

I was one of the first owners of the bike in India and have clocked ~ 19k KMs on the bike. The experience till now was very good and thankfully, without any niggles. But this all changed last week. Please allow me to share my story.

Last Friday, while going to office (one way 23 km. 18 km on highway) the battery warning sign started glowing. Since I had to take the bike to servicing on Monday, I ignored it. I thought that my ride anyways consists of a long stretch on highway, so the battery will get charged anyways and there is no need to panic.

    I was wrong.

I hope they will be able to identify the issue and fix it soon.

    Will share the progress soon....
What make is your Battery? I'm thinking since it's from the first batch so it must be Exide.

I too have sent my battery back to Exide once as it seems it's draining itself for no reason. They said only the CCA was down, so they just charged it and sent it back to me. I too have the bike from the first batch and have 9500 km on odo.

I think the culprit here is definitely the wiring. My bike stalls a lot of times but thankfully it always starts back up. However I would not want to be in a situation like you so do inform us what the issue turns out.

    Cheers buddy.

Yes just GOING to change it.

I would like to know two things,

      Which oil do you use?

And is there anything wrong, if i switch back to Bajaj dtsi oil as they realy recommend that oil?

      ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

Bajaj says that their oil can be used for 10,000 kms,
After seeing the Vikas Rachamalla vlog on Engine oil, i am very confused,
He even said that mineral oils can last till 10,000-12000kms.

From somewhere I heard that , FS oil can cause issues to the engine in longer Run, because bajaj recommends Bajaj oil is the most suitable one for RS200.

What is your opinion on this?

      ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

Vikas Sir uses mineral oil for his 1000cc super bike 😐 yes its a 15year old bike, so old tech.

But still what if RS200 engine was designed for a Mineral oil?

I've personally used it for 8k KMs.
But that was over a duration of 5 months.
If the oil is around 5 months old or more then pls change it.

Regarding your query of next oil change, would recommend sticking to Motul and put Motul 5100 or 7100 as per your usage.

I use Motul 7100 FS as well. I have been using it for more than 3000 km now.

No there is nothing wrong with switching back to Mineral oil.

I personally find the bike much smoother on the synthetic oil.

I don't know why he says it can be used for that long, but in my case the stock Bajaj oil would turn black after 2000 km. The engine feels very harsh after it gets hot in hot weather and vibes start to creep in. This is what I have personally observed on my bike with the cheap Bajaj Oil. No way is it going to last that long in a bike which revs to almost 11K RPM unless you ride it like an old woman rides an Activa.

I would suggest you stick to Motul 5100/7100 as these are best suited for our bike engine. The Duke/RC 200 have the same engine as the RS 200 (only cylinder head is different and RS is SOHC) and KTM advises to use Motul oil. So no it won't do any harm to the engine.

No the engine isn't designed for Mineral Oil, quite the opposite, in fact mineral oil in the long term may damage the bike due to it's rev happy nature. Hope that clears your doubts.

          Cheers.

The fact that the new battery drained within 2 hours of replacement shows that problem is definitely not the battery (and charging as well). There is some short in the wiring that is draining the battery. As of now, SS ppl have taken the bike back to SS and are testing the wiring. Will be calling them in another 30 min. Will keep members posted on the outcome.

I hope this does not happen to anybody else. Good thing was that the breakdown happened while I had not reached the highway and I could find a shop to park the bike. If on highway, I don't know what I would have done since there are no shops/houses on highway. BTW the SS fellow told me there were two other similar instances within past three days.

(PS: For folks from Mumbai, I am referring to the Eastern Express Highway: From Ghatkopar to Thane)

I'm highly suspecting a magneto or a rectifier issue. The battery symbol you see suggest that the bike is not changing the battery. What you've described seem to be an intermittent issue - which is a pain to diagnose.

Get your fuel filter changed, air filter and get throttle body cleaned.

Fuel filter changed, does it required in a 1500km run.

After seeing mixed reviews and opinion about RS200,
let me ask you guys a random question,

Are you guys satisfied with the BIKE ?

I am not fully satisfied with the bike. Again it is a mixed feeling.

Even with all the troubles that I've faced. I for one, am satisfied with my machine. Yes it's not as reliable and smooth as a Japanese bike, but at this price and for what it offers it doesn't have to be.

It's like a Ducati, needs constant attention and I think that gives the bike character. So yes I love my bike and I wouldn't trade it for anything (except maybe a S1000RR [emoji14] ).

                              Cheers!

Yes, that can be possible too. I have a bad feeling about this. Usually anything to do with wiring is tricky and difficult to diagnose

If it were some part, I would have just replaced it. But identification of the root cause is PITA...

Does the engine turn off with hiccups or just after you let go of the throttle? My first idea will be to get the throttle body cleaned.
