Do ask the mechanic to put washers at all points.
The service centre has a rubber dampener which the mechanics will put at a few points near the speedometer and coolant box.
This should take care of the vibrations.

On a daily used motorcycle, the proper interval would be 3000 kays with 3.5k being the max you can extend. Considering you use the bike on a daily basis, to office commute or college commute, basically your sole mode of transport, that would be the right ballpark.

        Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
        The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

        THE END

My bike has completed 17k km and the chain is still fine. There are signs of wear and tear on sprockets but they don't need to be replaced for atleast 4k km more. But this is when I lube the chain regularly, once every 2 weeks and am generally not abusing the bike with mad acceleration.

The rpm meter(engine) which generally stays at 1.8k, rises to 2k, then to 3k, then falls back to 2k, again goes to 3.5k, then falls down again and the engine shuts off. This is happening every time without any throttle input. I know this is not the auto choke working. Riding the bike in this condition is similar to case when you are low on fuel on carb bikes and have to give constant gas when having to slow down, to prevent the bike from stalling. Whenever I pull the clutch on 4k-5k rpm, the revs fall down and the bike shuts off.

I've tried riding the bike after 8 hours, still the condition prevails. I've given the bike to the SVC today and I was told they were gonna work on it on Monday or Tuesday since tomorrow is a holiday and they have a couple more bikes to work on.

            Some info,
Bike is 11months old, did 6600kms, Switched to Motul 5100 15w50 on Nov 24th, 5900kms.

Please do reply if you know anything about this issue.
Did you get petrol from your regular petrol pump? This might also be caused by impurities in petrol clogging the FI system.

Checking/cleaning the throttle body can also be tried.

PS: 5900 km on Motul5100 is on a higher side. Usually drain interval is ~ 3-3.5 k km.

Previously I used to fill up at Indian oil, but I've switched to Bharath for the last 4 fillings, almost full tank every time.
And I meant to say that I switched from Bajaj oil to Motul when the odo was at 5900kms. The oil is so far just 700kms old.

Guys i really need your help.. Please do answer me. Because I haven't ridden an RS before.. I was planning to get a brand new one.. But the price drop seems too big.. I might use it only for max 4 years. So I thought about getting a used one.. So far I've found mid 2015 bikes with 10k-15k at the range of 1.1Lakhs.. Give or take a bit.. So is this a good thing.. Since you guys are well aware of the bike.. And have ridden the bike over 15k kms.. So would it be wise to get a used one. Or is it not worth all the upcoming troubles.. And what all would probably need change/repair once I get the bike.. Trust me I've read this whole forum and have done my homework. But I really need u guys right now.. Please do help. Me out.

Price wise would recommend to do your research online and with local second dealers.

Regarding your concern on parts that would need to be changed / looked into
                  - air filter ( cost is around 250 )
                  - check wear on chain sprocket set (set is around 2k)
                  - check wear on tyres (set is around 5k)
                  - check wear on brake pads (one set is around 300-400)
                  - replace front fork oil and do a cone set overhaul (costs about 1k)
                  - check clutch and accelerator cable condition and replace if needed
                  - clutch plates don't usually wear out so soon but do ask the mechanic to check.
                  - get the fuel tank and fuel injection filter cleaned

These would be the major check points from the service point of view. I'm sure you would check the body condition for damages, scratches etc.

Yeah... Thank you Santosh for that.. So I don't have to worry about the ecu/abs.. And about the run in.. If the bike was used rough during run in what is the worst case scenario? What'd that cost.. Please do reply

Ecu / abs doesn't have to be looked at if it doesn't show any error on the console.

These machines are well built and can easily take the abuse even if used rough during the run in. There is a possibility that it could lead to lower mileage figures like 30-35
For the first few months just ensure that you monitor the oil levels and during oil change see if the drained oil is significantly less.
Worse case scenario is that you might have to change the piston and do the run in process all over again.

Thank you so much for your response..my biggest worry was about the faulty ecu/fi/abs and run in. I assume even if I have to change pistons.. It wouldn't cost more than 5k right... And about the shock absorbers.. Are they really reliable? Or would they give up later?

Remember to check the service history of the vehicle before deciding on the final purchase. A bike not serviced at regular/correct intervals tells you a lot about attitude of the owner and the way it is abused. Another advice will be to take along a good mechanic with you when going to inspect the bike.

I have ridden the bike for more than 17k km now and the only maintenance issues that have come so far are (1) front fork leakage/seal replacement and (2) front brake caliper spring replacement. So, at least in my case the bike has been almost maintenance free.

Reg pistons, it would cost a lot more than that as a piston change will be accompanied by a hot of other replacements as well. I had to do that with my Karizma and it cost me ~ 12k 8 years ago.

Shock absorbers' life totally depends on the rider's riding habits. If not abused, they will last much longer than the 15k km interval you are looking at.

there should be a bolt holding the silencer expansion chamber in place . Don't worry it has total 4 bolts to hold the silencer. just buy a new bolt & tighten it
