Honda CBR 650f's maintenance cost seems pretty pocket friendly.

Same here The other thing that put me off is the massive weight.

you will feel the weight only when reeling the bike in parking or taking tight U-turns, rest assured, on the move, it just like any other bike.

May be to keep the costs at bay, they have used heavier materials.

the bikes are damn lovely..its just the service interval & the cost of spares are hight & DSK is to be blamed for that...i personally love the 600i

Believe it or not, I was hell bent on going for this bike and had nothing else on my mind other than this one, I was so damn serious that I had even contacted a Russian through YouTube who had the same bike and had used it for around 30k KMS, even though his reply was positive, but the biggest disappointment was DSK themselves, the way they have handled Hyosung, I was a bit skeptical to go with Benelli, and they proved me right. The service intervals are not only very short but are too costly, and so are the N number of issues that are cropping up from almost every other person who has owned it. I agree that new bikes always have teething issues when they are launched, but this is huge and then the part availability wherein a bike breaks down and then it has to wait in the service station for weeks together. Until then I had no other bike in my mind, but then all of a sudden the ER-6n came to my mind as that was the only nearest competitor to this bike and since I got the chance to rent it too from Wicked Ride just like the Benelli, I fell in love with it and finally bought it at the end of June with a very sweet deal from Kawasaki and till today I am loving each and every time I take it out, never have I felt that I have made a decision only thinking of my pocket but a decision which made me fall in love with a bike which was already there in our midst before the Benelli. If naked bikes are your liking, try this one out, you will surely love it. I had always read about the Ninja 650 about how good its performance is from owner's experiences and on bike magazines, and with the ER-6n, its the same plus the nimbleness you get to ride it in traffic is second to nothing. I can't believe this bike weighs 200+ even through traffic.

Didn't consider the ER-6N due to no ABS. For a bike this expensive, ABS is a MUST. It has saved my life more than a couple of times. Till now, not read any ownership reviews of the Benelli 600i ABS version. Does it have the issues ironed out? I got to know that the service interval is 5000kms or 5 months. For me, 5000kms is a whole year of riding So every 5 months or 6 months service doesn't sound too bad.

Yes ABS is must... In 2017 hell lot of new bikes are in line for Kawa. Are you sure about 5 months or 5k interval for 600i ??

The showroom floor manager told me so. I didn't ask to see the user manual though.

Can you get a capture from the Service Manual about this. I doubt this one. Or the sales person is just bluffing

Since there is a discussion going on about the service cost and interval.I thought of sharing something.

I bought the bike in Aug,2015 and my bike has done 6.5k kms. Currently, I have completed just 2 services. If I had given my bike as per the Benelli's recommendation of 4 months interval, the no. of services would have been 4-5 services. Being just 6.5k kms on the bike, I don't like giving the bike for service, just because Benelli has said, this is where they make money. Moreover, the cost is way costly, around 7-8k per service is ridiculous for the bike with less usage.

I know I might lose the warranty of the bike if scheduled services are not done and it is the risk I had to take. I will go for a max of 2 services/year if the usage is around 6-8k per year.
I am taking the bike for 3rd service next month.

But there some things which needs to be taken care of if you are not giving the bike as benelli's recommendation

                          1. Check for oil level every now and then. If it is less you can buy a liter of Motul 7100 4T Fully Synthetic 20W-50 Petrol Engine Oil for Bikes and costs around 700 Rs to top up
                          2. Check the coolant level and while riding make sure, the engine temperature is not too much
                          3. See for any other kind of oil spills
                          4. Check of electrical wirings, Brakes, tyre wear and tear, Chain and sprockets

Finally, I am not saying everyone to completely avoid the regular services, I am just trying to avoid/skip one or two services in between if the usage is less inorder to save your hard earned money !!

Hi Guys, I have completed the second service. The Bill Amount was 8.5k. I added Teflon coating as well Now the bike feels smooth and the front noise which I had mentioned in my previous post is gone. I am happy about it.

But the service guys showed me worn-out back break pads. I was surprised to see 80% of the pads completely gone for just 3400kms. They told that I was using too much rear brake, which is wrong. I use front a lot and rear to support the breaking. I am not happy with the quality of rear breaks. They told me that it should be replaced and the cost would be 4.2k +400 Rs labour as it is not covered under warranty. Initially I agreed. Later I thought of digging in aliexpress and found that the rear brake pads cost just 1.8k. Hence ordered this. I will try to get it replaced in normal garage

Now I will be careful with ridiculous pricing of the spare parts. He also told that the Chain + 2 sprockets costs around 30k . The life of the chain and sproket is around 25k kms.
