    I have a Suzuki GS150R 2011 model clocked 39,350 KMs.

    39k, Fantastic.

Freak inExile has already given a list - I will try to add/emphasize a few other things.

Actually I got an issue my bike was serviced only twice in Suzuki service centers in 2011, its 150 kms away from my place so I was not able to get it serviced their just used local person from oil change , battery check , air filter cleaning., chain and brakeslubrication, That's all.

It is perfectly okay to get it serviced at a local garage. Any sane mechanic with common sense and experience of handling similar bikes will do the job. So your mechanic buys the spares ? Just make sure they are Suzuki Genuine Parts (SGP).

My air filter was changed once on13k kms whole chain set was change on 20.7k km .

Replace air filter no matter what the argument from your mechanic/SVC is - ideally, in 36,000 kms, the vehicle should have seen 2 changes. It is a known fact that most of us are able to extract only 19000-20000 kms on DID/SGP chain-sprocket set. Weekly lubrication, gentle right hand and regular adjusting at least every 2000 kms might give it more life. So, check chain set again.

Disc brake pads were replaced at the same time as well the read drum pads also.

Check disc pads again since for your pattern of usage they last 20k kms. Replace brake fluid with DOT4. Check fuel/brake hoses and replace if necessary - Suzuki recommends to replace these every 4 years (usually no one replaces but just inspect yourself if they have cracks or leaks). Rear brake shoes usually last more than 20k kms - check if the pads are glazed, if so, rub them lightly with emery paper and refit.

Valve clearance was also done once at the time of 2nd service on my demand. But now I'm facing issue with unwanted engine noise when it's hot, I noticed pick have really got worse and mieage has been dropped a little giving 40-45 before was 53-55 kmpl. The strange thing is when my engine is cold it's runs very smooth but when it gets got it starts acting really harsh. I could notice unwanted kind of sound from left side of the engine whn it is hot.

Check valve clearance again. If they are to be adjusted, make sure your mechanic/SVC uses a feeler gauge. I feel the drop in mileage could be also due to clogged air filter as you changed it only (?) at 13k kms and second one has done duty for more than 24000 kms !! The engine, silencer and crash guard mounting bolts have to be re-torqued.

And their is a noise coming from rear drum brakes always. Also I have to apply front disc brake harder for making it in process. Please help me guys.. Also it has clocked this much kms please tell me all the necessary checkup and the adjustments for getting my beast in its original state...

Change fork oil and if necessary, repack grease in steering cone set. Drum brakes make noise (similar to old buses/trains coming to a stop) when the lining is contaminated with rust (bike/brake not used regularly or water has entered due to rain) or brake shoe dust (normal). Clean lining and de-glaze pads. Replace pads if worn.

    Replace spark plug.

Replace oil and oil filter. I hope your SVC doesn't miss the small o-ring in oil filter compartment like mine did. If I were you, I would clean oil strainer too.

Adjust clutch free play - inspect for damages to the cable at both lever and engine ends (the finer metal wires that make the cable start to come off) and replace if necessary.

Expect: "Not required saar !" as reply to most of what we said by the person filling the job card. If no, expect a slightly hefty bill.

I really appreciate this reply,Thanks a lot once again. I'll keep this important points in my mind buddy ashwanth.r and freak in exhile and 1 thing more should I change any other parts??. I'm having issue with hard handling as well a (khat) sound while braking on bumpers,I think the handle racer is faulty too. Correct me If I'm wrong and also their is continuous sound of disc brake when I move the bike while standing, but once the bike is started the sound is gone and the same alerts when I move it ideally and bike was fallen right side once by my uncle the disc lever is bent to little bit down side, Also I want to change both of the tyres could you please tell me best tyres for both good grip and mileage. If you don't mind guys can you give me any proper estimate for the above service by Suzuki service centers, I'm not asking the exact figure just the estimate. Take Care guys and I'm really very sorry for so so long questions.

Don't be sorry, you are keeping the thread and us alive.

Estimate attached, prepare to spend more or less.

No comments on tyres - I have not changed them yet. Please see previous posts on what tyres Sarvodaya or Punarvasu used. I find stock tyres have decent grip (It depends how much you want to push the bike).

Can you post a picture of the bent disc lever - usually the alloy lever breaks into 2 in a fall (it is supposed to sacrifice itself in these conditions).
Khat sound is due to race kit, I think.

If the disc brake goes "keee keee keee keee" at very low speeds/silent environment, consider it as normal. But check if the front tyre moves
freely after jacking the motorcycle up. It won't move as freely as the rear one, but there should not be too much resistance.
      Cheers !

Buddy thanks a lot I really appreciate for the reply and for the estimate.
1.Actually stock tyres are not got for rainy season and sudden braking specially the rear thinking to change to
        MRF Zapper Q-rear & MRF ZAPPER ZQ-Front
        2. Will post the lever pic soon. Actually it's bend from the joint to downside...
        3. And yes I'm taking about the " kee kee" noise.. The disc brakes is not much effective too.. It feels I'm pressing drum brakes.

          Air-Filter may cost Rs 250-300/-
And assuming 3-4 hours of manual labour at rate Rs 150-200 per hour; we add another Rs 450 - 800 /-

                Hello All,

What is the reason for low mileage in new engine ? Gs150r odo 8xxx kms

                Mileage 45kms ..

Speed 50-70 kmph (usually 95% highway) very less braking and gear shifts..

Everything except Engine and carb are maintained and tested by me for perfect condition include (Engine oil,air filter, battery, spark plug, fuel flow, brakes ,clutch, chain,Tyre pressure, idling, wheel free rotation ,fuel quality and quantity)

Carb cleaned and tuned like 3 times no use :-( (with and without 5 gas analyser)

What else could be the reason ?
My doubt is something to tune with the engine :::

Why didn't you had them both replaced?
The right one had a problem from the beginning. It all started with a handle/hook accessory which I got fitted while taking delivery in 2009, to damaged nut in 2010, to strut coming out loose, etc., As a result of all that, oil was leaking from it, leading to bouncy rear suspension.

Other than that, everything works fine with the bike.

                  Odo: 69,000 kms
                  Mileage: 52-55 kpl in city

                  - Worn out key/lock, leading to the key coming out even in ON position
+ Excellent grip from the new MRF (Zapper FS and Moto Meteor) tires
+ Excellent ride quality even on bad roads (especially after recent fork springs and oil change)
                  + Good headlight throw
                  + Super useful gear indicator
+ Super smooth gearbox and engine
+ Bike can easily cross 1 lakh kms without any issues.

                  Recent spares:
                  * Chain sprockets and set replaced 8K kms back
                  * New tyres 3000 kms back
                  * Front fork stem and cone set replaced 1000 kms back
                  * Rear right suspension... 1000 kms back
                  * Oil and oil filter... 1000 kms
                  * Fork oil and springs.. 1000 kms

It'll be a bigger problem with a pillion on the back. Both new rear-suspension would have given you better response.

Depends on where/when you ride. Night rides on highways after the rain are the worst with stock 35w halogen on any motorcycle.

                      Vanakkam Durai,

Since your query was immediately after my post, I assume you were referring to me as ‘Sir’. Feel free to call me by my name (Ashwanth). I hope you are going great too !

                      1. Any good motorcycle oil (20W-40 or 15W-40, preferably with JASO MA/MA2) will do. Just make sure it is original – try to source it from authorized retailer or COCO petrol bunks in case of Shell/Indian Oil. Drain it 2500-3000 kms (mineral oils) and replace oil filter every time as it is just ~40 rupees.

                      2. Presently runs on Mobil Delvac 1300 ‘Super’. This oil is for diesel trucks (HDEO). It is 15W-40.
Oil is now ~4200 kms old (Suzuki’s recommendation is 4000 kms, took previous batch to 4000 kms as well). Will change tomorrow to Motul’s 20W-40 Mineral.

                      3. Not recommended. Yes, there were some xbhpians reporting clutch slippage with this, IIRC.

                      4. See #2. Can you say why you want a HDEO? The only reason why some of use HDEOs is because of slightly higher ZDDP content. But remember, no amount of
ZDDP can reverse/protect damage from driver’s abuse.

NOTE: Last time when I opened the oil filter compartment, the walls were having a slight tinge of brown (similar to neglected engines) instead of silvery aluminium. I don’t know if it this sludge/deposit (?) is due to the Mobil oil/HDEO.

                      5. 8000 kilometers is not a new engine anymore – a teenager perhaps.
How do you calculate mileage – reserve to reserve ? Can you elaborate on your driving style a bit more – at what RPMs do you upshift? 45 is too low that too for a GS. Did you get the carb tuned at SVC or local mechanic? Are you sure there is no brake binding and chain is correct slack?

                      6. Insurance: Got this settled? Did the guy accept SMK’s labor charges ??

Why are you replacing rear shock absorber - leaking (?) and handlebar - bent (?).

Yes, it was leaking. I got ut repaired from local shop but no use. It's really uncomfortable now. Even the front shock absorber also. I have changed front Shocker oil thrice...

Usually sometimes I park it near front of building where there's no shed, and sometimes under tree.. Thinking for white..

Changed the 4250-kms old Mobil Delvac Super 1300 15W-40 to Motul 4T Plus 20W-40 yesterday.

Pictures: The oil filter has a bypass mechanism - if the filter is clogged, the oil pressure will push a plate up and exit (unfiltered) and save the engine from oil starvation.

The green dot on the filter-cover-side of the oil filter is perhaps the QA marking for this bypass mechanism? Elofic SGP filters are "factory tested".

Is that sludge inside oil filter compartment ? Usually its shiny silvery aluminum. I cannot make out whether it was sludge or partial engine casing paint (like on cars, the interiors of doors - metal part - will have partial/incomplete painting). Also, look at the brownish deposit inside oil filler hole.

The old oil-filter small o-ring was a little bit reduced in size compared to old one - replace every time while changing filter !
