  • Booked SZ-R

Booked SZR after considering all the factors. Suzuki GS150R was dropped just because of damn expensive spare parts and poor availability of spares. GS is a great buy but only price of its spares let it down.

Then came the fight between Unicorn and SZ-R. And after one hour of debate (myself and brother) the SZ won. Because we were getting nothing but a kick and monoshocker compared to SZ. And the price difference was 6k. SZ has got better handling among three and the grunt of the bike is unique and amazing. Comfort is great. I think this bike will give tough competition to unicorn. Mileage is 50-55 as reported by some known customers.

    • Mileage of GS is great among three. Unicorn is the least selling 150 here at my place. Sale of SZ and GS is getting some pick up.

Anyway one of my known who is milkman is using GS from more than 1 year and this bike has got the most durable engine. 50k in milk loading and his bike is still going strong. So enjoy the bike guys.

        Congrats for your new ride.

Keep your bike in good condition to reduce the cost of buying SPARES ..

          Congratulations on your booking.

I would like to make an appeal to other prospective buyers.

Firstly with the GS150R or any reliable bike for that matter, you don't need to buy spares unless you have a crash or a fall. Therefore, it is not a recurring cost but a one-time investment. So don't let the cost of spares factor into your decision of selecting a bike. Availability of spares and cost of service are two other factors that some people doubt about this bike. Availability is not a serious problem with Suzuki unless you live in remote areas, the only thing is that you have to visit the SVC for spares. This is a move by the company to maintain quality of parts and prevent fake unreliable parts.

About the comfort, this factor assumes importance when you have to travel long distances. For short commutes to office or college, you don't feel the difference between Apache, GS150R, Bullet or any other bike. For long distance rides, the comfort offered by the GS150R is well known.

Handling- Each bike has a target audience, the target of the GS150R is for tourers and commuters requiring a reliable and comfortable ride. Therefore, this bike is not meant for aggressive cornering. But on the other hand, the suspension setup of this bike offers a smooth ride.

Mileage- This is another factor which should not matter if you travel less than 50 kms a day. But for every other purpose, fuel efficiency is one of the USPs of the GS150R. It offers a mileage which is in the domain of 125cc bikes when not pushed too hard.

Price- Although the price of the GS150R is higher than some bikes like Pulsar or SZ, the package it offers is more reliable and complete than some other bikes. It is a VFM product considering the reliability.
In today's world, quotes don't matter. Quotas do!

Agreed, to know what tappet noise is, you'd have to purposely loosen you'r tappet and ride the bike for a few mins. Cause to be honest people these days even consider the engine over heating noise to be tappet noise.

            self engine tuning,

Its the best, cause only an owner can tune his bike to its prime. Do you even think a mech(when left alone) would even bother to use a feeler guage????

engine oils, JASO MA2 specifications, cleaning non O-ring chain,

I clean my chain, but am against the idea of lubing it, cause the ZMA's already too quiet, its nice to hear some chain noise.

necessity to reach 4K or higher rpm to shift up to higher gear (the tachometer of almost all bikes are show pieces; not showing correct engine rpm) etc. etc. Actually, riding in higher gears without straining the engine gives better FE.

Everyone knows the tacho's wrong, its just they use it to measure the engine's condition. Just like, say you've been kidnapped to CHOKOSLOVAKIA and you'r trapped in a cell and you've got nothing other than you'r wrist watch showing IST, you know its not the exact time, but you'll still measure you'r time in captivity with it.

Some are claiming that a specific brand of oil is giving extraordinary speed, engine smoothness and increase in FE, which is doubtful and needs to be proved.

If you'r talking about Gulf Pride 20W40, then I guess its best you dont waste you'r time testing it on you'r already set bike and instead try it on a new ride, and believe me, the engine will be rough till you switch back to OEM, this time Gulf made the bike rough right.. Thats what happened in my case with my ZMA, the oil paused my run-in. This doesnt mean that the oil's bad cause it made my ride remain rough, it shows the extent of lubrication the oil provide.
And about the mileage decreasing if ridden at higher rpm's.. I believe you should reconsider, cause am a rought rider, only upshift past 5~6k rpm except in 1st gear... And here's my mileage stat, its not exact cause my mom only gives me 100per day as travelling expense.

            Take a look.

Im sure the SZ is also durable enough to have some milkman or delivery boy somewhere pull his loads on it....so, you enjoy your bike as well.

Its the carburetor Drain Hole tube, used for draining petrol from the carburetor bowl.

Actually I do respect the daring mind of the bikers like you who go for very long rides on bikes. What I said was not to hurt the feeling of anyone but to point out that tuning the carburetor with a mere screwdriver alone, depending the engine sound and the tachometer reading in the bike is a blunder.

Please remember that I, Vishnu, is not personally gaining or losing anything if anyone is getting better mileage or performance by self screw driver tuning as I my profession is not engine tuning.

Thank you. I am convinced now that it is - at least - good enough to carry milk cans as the old Bajaj M80s. Hope the spare parts of that SZ are very cheap.

Congratulations for this self explanatory note. My bike is 20260 kms old now. These are the parts I have replaced:
                          1. Oil filter at the time of every oil change.
                          2. Recently replaced the second one.
                          3. Headlight bracket or cowling bracket under warranty.
                          4. Spark plug changed to iridium at 8700 kms.
                          5. Side and main stand springs to check whether the metallic sound is from the stands.
                          6. Steering ball racer recently.
                          7. Fork oil at about 16000 kms.
                          8. Spark plug cap a few months ago.
                          9. Nuts on the chain cover every 4-5 times I remove it to lube the chain.
                          10. Twice the Headlight visor nuts as the visor was removed to replace the headlight bulb and pilot bulbs.
Nothing else but the RR, headlight bulb and pilot bulbs. Replaced the RR and pilot bulbs to convert the bike to full DC and the HL bulb a few days after purchasing the bike for better light.
