Is the GS vibe free in the 60-70 km/hr range?.How is the GS's handling.I used to ride an apache 150 before and it handled way better than the 220.How does the GS compare here?.I will soon make a test ride myself but the info from you guys is just as reliable.Thanks.

Go for a test ride on the new GS.

Its certainly a bit harder to flick around than an apache but is definitely more stable. Cornering is also quite a pleasure...but no point comparing it to bikes like apache and r15 that are built to handle nimbly.

The front suspension is also very good. It is softer compared to the RTR. But I felt that it contributes to a good line and grip while braking and entering into corners (not breaking and entering ). Overall, handling on the GS is very satisfactory, damn good for what its built to be, an all-rounder. Its definitely a leap better than a pulsar.

Standing still also, if youre used to the p220's weight, the GS should be no problem.

Better to take a test ride and see things for yourself. Dont forget to tell us what you found out. Good luck.

          • Chain Guard replacement.

My GS is almost 4 months old. Completed 5000 Kms.

Today removed the chain guard to clean the chain.. Shocked.

The chain guard was rusted very badly.

Is there any possibility that it will be replaced.

Cleaned and oiled the chain, applied Kerosene for the Chain gurad for now and refitted.

Planning to paint it black, if replacement is not possible in the third service.

Happy with the Mileage and comfort. Gives me 55-58/litre for daily city ride..

I am sure that the petrol tank will not be rusted as I fill the tank almost up to the brim every-time.

How about 2010 sep model ?7000 km done

It comes under new refined engine?

                Waiting for your reply
Take a test ride in a showroom and then a ride on the used bike. See if you notice any difference.
If the current owner allows, do a jar mileage test, and try to get a good mechanic to check the bike.

                • Please Help

                  I have a GS 150 R brought just 2 weeks ago.

I feel that the handle bar should be inclined closer to my body me as i feel now that my hands are always straight while riding. Also i tend to lean forward a bit and ride.

Hence can anyone please suggest any ideas to get a handle bar with more height or any other additions like the one in Avenger/eliminator(handle bar riser).

                  Please help.

Even the scientifically nourished, cleaned (in every 500 kms as advised by others) and lubed chains of some bikes are not lasting more than 15-16 K kms. Same is the case of some engine parts.

Without any doubt, go for GS. It is worth the money you spend.
Thanks for the reply mate!!! I already rode this bike only once the experience was really cooooooll!! decent pickup in the old model. I hope pickup has been little bit increased in the newer GS150r. By the way, this is the first bike I am going to buy with my own... I almost read all the posts in this thread almost all are satisfied with this bike.. But why still this bike is not much popular?? It is a big question to me... Very soon I will join with you guys with my GS150r baby... Thank you all, for making this thread wonderfull!!
All for the best!! Just Go Ahead!!

                    • @ gnarendra2003,

if it comes to used bike remember the performance of bike mainly depends us on how the owner treated (maintained and driven) it,

so go with your knowledged mechanic let him test it and certify on its real worth and performance.

also remember to completely check bike documents.

@ gnarendra2003: Check and verify documents first, then proceed with the rest.

As far as Ive seen, the GS is mostly ridden very sedately. It seems to have an 'uncle gaadi' reputation, just like the unicorn. Though its got enough punch, its not an instant thrills bike, so less likely to be roughed up. In that respect, the probability of finding one in good condition is more, as compared to most other 150s.

But, nothing beats first hand, even though initial invstment and maintainance expenses are more.

As you said, the pickup of the new GS has been increased. Suzuki, the manufacturer, is to answer the question about its unpopularity of GS but, as a friend here said, we are working as brand ambassadors of it. And welcome to our family.

                          • Saw the new model yesterday in the showroom and am so happy coz the old models look much cooler. The stickers on the new ones look like the tacky ones on some of those HH bikes. Also since the Unicorn CB availability has pretty much stopped in my city, I am seeing a lot of GS' around. Popularity of this bike is definitely not an issue in Calicut.

If you like colour white; then new GS in white suit is fabulous. I guess waiting period for white GS will be more.
