Adjusted the rear suspension to the next step but due to roughness returned to the original position. Replaced the fork oil once at about 12500 kms.

It's a simple DIY.. You can adjust the reach of the handle bar with few steps below.
          1. Get a 12 - 13mm ring spanner.
          2. Loosen the 4 screws located at the middle of the handle bar.
          3. Now pull the handle bar slowly towards you, set it at one position where ever you feel it's easy for reach..
(Make sure that none of the cables on the handle bar are touching the fuel tank, when the handle bar is tilted towards extreme left or right )
          4. Tighten all the screws.

If you tilt the handle bar more towards you., consider the RVM position too and adjust it if required so.

From the 2nd day of purchase, the handle bar was adjusted & inclined towards the rider to its max(considering the cables on handle bar)..

For the first few days I felt some pain around the wrist and fore arms.. Later I got used to the position..Now there is no such pain..
The bike is very easy to handle even in heavy traffics..

          • Is it very difficult to move your feet a little to and fro to shift gear? Then how is the car or truck driver using the same foot to accelerate and brake? Keep the heel on the heel shifter up to 6th gear and move it forward for downshifting. It is not comfortable to up-shift using toe shifter in our bike. [/QUOTE]

Its not "very " difficult..the point is,it is not convenient.

May I know how you shifted gears in your earlier bikes..(Foot operated gears)

In GS it requires just a little more movement when compared to my old bike HH Passion Pro..

If you don't find a alternate lever to replace, you can cut and weld the GS lever itself to match your style..

                Excellent suggestion.

An altered riding position may not be comfortable to you. If you still like to modify it, a local mechanic may be helpful, as Rajesh said.

                  thank u for ur reeeply....

can any one explain the diff b/w the unicorn and GS...

                  • I think the gs is the spiritual successor to the unicorn cb. It has similar classy but plain stylings (unlike the stupid fairings on the dazzler), smooth engine, performance, mileage resulting in a similar target demographic. I think that a lot of people(including me) considered the gs because the bookings on the unicorn became over a year long.

As far as which is better in terms of actual features I guess someone else will be able to explain but I am assuming that since the unicorn is the relatively older model the gs will have the edge. Honda probably has a better established service network than Suzuki though.

i went to didar showroom in chennai...it is a unicorn shownroom... they didn't consider the cust as a customer... the treat the customer as beggar.. wn i enter they ask what bike do u want to know.. unicorn.. then they give me a specification details and ask me to book it and get it after 6 months...

                      so i don't like that...

is there any spl in GS

                          Siva,

Choosing a bike is a long affair. We all have gone through the process ..

Finally the 6th gear makes the difference if you are a long-distance traveller.

If you travel less than 10km, then even a scooter will do

I have a query to Vishnu, Sparkot, Maestro ...

I have completed 1st service and we are allowed to run upto 7500 rpm

Now what I want to ask is whether it is better to run the 6th gear at above 5000 rpm or is there any possible damage in running on the 6th gear in low rpms [ below 5000rpm ] considering the long engine life

As far as I know, there is no specific rpm to change gear. I am shifting up at around 2.5K rpm in plain road from the first day and my bike is now 20200 kms old. The reason may be this carefree riding, my bike is free from problems like low FE, tappet noise, etc etc.

In normal riding, shift to upper gear when you are sure that the engine will produce enough power to accelerate without knocking.
The advices like shift up at 7000 or 8000 rpm for an ever living engine is nothing more than utter nonsense. Change to upper gear at the earliest possible and always try to ride in higher gears. You can easily ride at and accelerate from 28-30 kmh in top gear.

is there any calculation or time period gap to change a gear... at which speed we can put the 6th gear...

No such calculations or time gap; I think. We can ride in 6th gear from 28-30 kmh in level roads provided the bike is accelerated slowly and gradually.
