Dont bother with asking for a replacement. Instead, buy stronger tools.

One of my spanner mouths got bent and grooved out of shape while loosening a rusted nut. Now, its fairly useless. Apparently, you cant use these tools for anything more than some small work around the house or showoff.

Better to buy a good quality set if you're looking at heavy duty.

    ----------

On that note, I wonder what kind of quality are the tools supplied by other bike makers.

It is not difficult to get a FE of 60 kml. However, check it yourself.

Can you please tell me the procedure:
                how to identify it?
                how to get it replaced?

                • > Just check for rusting on any part of your bike...not just the tank. For the tank specifically, check the mouth, as shown in one of vishnukmd's recent posts as it is the most prone to rust. On mine, its on the mouth of the tank, one of the exhaust nuts, the chaincase and the saree guard, as well as a bit on a weld point on the frame.

                  >> Show it to your nearest service centre (or any SC for that matter) and ask for a warranty replacement of the affected parts.

                  >>> They'll replace it and give it back to you, the time taken being subject to the availability of the spares. Although, how readily they will replace the part might depend to how much rust has accumulated on it.

i too have rusting of the mouth of the tank. I have complained to them from the first service. They just hit some spray and tell me it will go away.. The worst part is i have rusting on most of the lower parts like side stand joints, back wheel...etc. When complained to the head office of my sc, they say it depends on the area in which we reside??

It is common in every bike in the coastal area and is mainly due to the salty air . Demand replacement of rusting parts.
Can you please upload the picture of the rusting back wheel?

How easy or difficult was it to get a replacement? is it only tank or any part can be replaced under warranty? Which is your SVC?

Earlier, For me, they just rejected to replace saying the petrol had water mix so the rust was formed.

If water goes in to the tank, it is a design defect for which we, the customers, are not responsible for. In fact the dealer is selling the defective product, hiding that fact. Ask him to either replace the faulty parts or give the reasons for rejection in black and white.

No idea why they'd reject a valid claim and risk their reputation.

Like vishnu said, ask for the reason in writing...that alone should put the fear of god in the SC people. If it doesnt and they give it to you in writing, scan the written document to suzuki along with pics of your rusted parts. If nothing else works, threaten with CC like gs150 did.

It appears to me that these rejections have something to do with the middlemen suppliers than suzuki directly.

                            ----------

If the rust is on non-critical parts, Id rather let go of it than push for a replacement. Critical in the sense that it might affect performance of the vehicle and might lead to costly repairs if neglected.

                            My case:
Tank = definitely critical and needs replacement.
Chain case = critical and needs replacement.
A few nuts here and there = critical.
saree guard = couldnt care less.
Side stand bottom = Its just a spot here and there.

For the non critical parts, if its just a spot of rust and if its not eaten up, I think I'll just sand the rust off, paint it and wipe it with oil once in a while.

Anyone, who is having issues getting the tank or any parts replaced, should just complaint through the suzuki india website. In the complaint, just say you would sue suzuki in CC if you arent getting tank replacement. Give all your SVC details, and you would get a call right from the SVC in few hours...For me i had to go thru this way...

I got my bike today after doing a 200ml mileage test in my presence with the SVC mechanic. With pillion i got 10.2 kms running so which means the FE would be 51kmpl...He told it would be 55+ without a pilion.

My Tank was replaced, however, the carb assembly also replaced which i had not requested for

Also, i wanted to know what is the normal paid service charge? Here it is 450 Rs..

It totally depends on the SVC personnel who operates on your bike and the parts being replaced.

also if you choose a less crowded(weekdays) day you might end with a higher cost.

my last paid service cost me Rs 300/-
                                - without any replacements
                                - just cleaning.

so far being the worst service I received

I suppose you can ask them for itemised bill listing specific details.
