      Mind it.
Look at what the CBR250 was and what it is now. If at all we get a rajnikanth from suzuki, I hope we get one with a moustache.

@sparkot: Yeah, its going to be interesting. Single cyl 250 cc development will definitely see some action.

Yesterday, in Bangalore at the bank, I met another GS user. He was mentioning to me that the new model has an extra piston ring in the engine. Wonder if anyone else has knowledge about this.

I couldnt ask his name though. Hope he is there in this blog

              • ^^^ So thats what suzuki meant by "new design engine".

Maybe our models werent sealed well enough for compression???? Maybe our models lose compression sooner????

Did anyone compare the performance of new GS with the older ones??

Extra piston ring? If true, that extra piston ring would enable better compression. Since the piston ring sits on the piston in a groove, that means it has to be a new piston too.

Bore size given on website indicates there is no change in piston diameter. So, if there is no change in new piston diameter, the new piston with extra piston ring should fit in the old gs too, provided there is no change in piston height and connecting rod length. Now, only suzuki can confirm if there is a new piston and if its size is same as old one.

                      • I have measured mileage by using Empty 2 Empty method...

For Rs. 500 Petrol i.e. 6.94 lts, It only ran 237kms.

                        That is 34kmpl mileage...

I agree that it gives 10% lesser during run-in period, but this is too less...

I am sure something is wrong with bike...

                        Please guide

Now Ive got a newfound appreciation for the way the GS is set up. The relatively weak but adequate low end apparently helps conserve fuel, while the above 5k rpm happiness keeps the petrol drinkers satisfied too. A good compromise between both worlds. I wish it weighed 15 kilos less. Maybe I should just reduce my own body weight.

I also wish we had R15 quality brakes. Most of the out-accelerating fun on this bike comes at above 50 kmph and the stock brakes cant constantly handle the abuse of sharp braking from above such speeds. My brakes are half dead after just 8k km.

I also also wish for a sportier seating, grippier tyres, lower centre of gravity and 4 more bhp..............I might as well wish for an r15.

I hope suzuki brings an r15 eater soon and I hope its a proper sports bike and not some stupid CBR250R wannabe.

If not a rear disk, a bigger front disc would be nice.

Gs with 15 kilos less weight? Wishful thinking.

To reduce weight slightly, they need to use lighter fiber material for noncritical parts, like SZ and Fz. But they didnt even attempt any weight reduction in the new 2012 gs150r too.

Unfortunately, suzuki does not think power-to-weight ratio is important for a commuter bike.

Seems like just cosmetic changes in new bike. Or are there any other hidden technical changes or weight reduction? Even i wonder what that price rise was for?

Extra piston ring? Now too GS is having the same three, as in almost all other bikes.

                            • I am going for 8th free service for my GS on friday. My odo reading is 10890 KM. Whats need to be taken care once odo crossed 10K other than usual servicing.

I haven't changed any thing except engine oil and oil filter at service intervals.

I think i need to change my engine oil this time as it is turned black once i crossed 800KM only. Is any other things need to be ask for inspection?

the one on CBR is my Bikes output and the one ahead of CBR on the road is the state transport bus's output......
