whether a loose chain or a tight chain set up wears out the drive chain and sprokets early????

If i undershift the gears i notice a grinding sound from rear sprokets

    • recorded mileage in a crazy way.

      s
I really have to regret by saying that i really have no time to do a can test. and there is no suitable enviroment to do it as my part of B'LORE is hilly.

As today i left my house early i decided to do some experiments with the bike.
I rode the bike for some km till it was warm.
Then shut off the fuel knob.
then rode it normally till she struggled for energy and stopped.
      then recorded the figures at the end of the run;

      TRAIL 1 - 1.7 km:
it was on a flat threeway road, without pillion.(started the bike from 0 gear and to top gear in no time of 40km/h and maintained constant speed of 50 to 55 for the rest )

      TRAIL 2 - 1.5 km:
ON a mixed terrain in the same road, other parameters remain same.

      TRAIL 3 - 1.3 km:
inclined road with heavy traffic and 6 speed breakers in the stretch solo riding, max 4 th gear.

i switched off the fuel knob at a level terrain all the times.
I am aware that this not a correct way to check mileage, but it allows us to compare each others mileage in a cheaper and simplest way.
I believe that fuel hose and carb capacity are same in all versions of GS.

I would cordinally invite others to share their figures.
Which would help me to rationalise these figures for a litre.

Ambient temperature also matters.in bangy now its cold in morning and if you do the same test during midday your current figure may totally change.

since i recorded this when the engine was warm it should not vary .

or whether r u trying to bring variable density of fuel at temp's and all other jargons into it

You can notice the difference in bike's performance during morning(cold)time and midday(hot weather).During midday while riding I feel like bike behaving little bit sluggish...Its because of the climate(ambient temperature).Engine heat also will be different during this time(extremely high) .

yes i believe he is talking about density variation of fuel at different temperature

If any of the distance is from the starting of the bike - if the bike is started after closing the tap - the FE is extra ordinarily (impossibly) excellent. If you are closing the tap while you ride, the 1.7 kms is excellent as it comes to more than 65 kml.
Please clarify whether the tap was closed when you were in 6th gear or the bike was started after closing the tap.
In either case, you are getting very good fuel efficiency.

GS was not available without booking recently and even the SlingShot is not in stock here now and it is due to the strike. It has affected the production of the bikes and scooter.

hi, are you using hid or higher watt bulb. I am unable to switch to dc as the dealer does not have the gasket with them. A mechanic was telling me that the gasket is bound to break/tear when you try to remove the coil. How much did you pay for the rewinding job. Also, did you do the wiring yourself? I guess you are using ape rr, right? Thanks, Raj
