my bike is driving me crazy......... today i checked my bikes mileage with the can method for 100ml of petrol i got 5.3 km and i drive insanely i give sudden acceleration the also its giving me good mileage i am satisfied with the mileage

and regarding the speedo error posted by someone i think its fault with ur bike's speedo only bcoz if at all it gives error then the mileage will not be certified by ARAI.

OT - I am using the Waxpol Auto polish ( hard carnauba wax , comes in orange tubs for around 100Rs ) , since ages on everything , including as a shoe-polish ( it's better than the kiwi parade gloss , the other best high-gloss polish I know .. and I never wear unshined shoes ) . It is meant for cars (mainly) , bikes ( painted surfaces ) and whole lot of other things like wood , plastic , vnyl , leather , linoleum , chrome .
Ok sure. Thanks. Sticking to one oil will take some time with all the brands available in the market.

Even if we don't tell it you will learn it faster and sooner because next fuel hike is not far away.

If your bike odo reads just 400 kms then its not the right time to look at the mileage, as your first priority is finishing the run-in period by strictly following the guidelines said in the manual.

Let me confuse you little bit on mileage.

              1. Normal way set the trip meter to "0" once it reaches reserve, then fill it shut it and don't forget to see the trip meter again when it hits reserve again.

              2. Buy the mileage testing can and follow the way as said by arulfast and others.

where did you get ARAI certified mileage for GS? and how much is this mileage? (if at all it's certified)
AHAIK no bike is tested for mileage at ARAI. It's a different story with cars. ever seen any bike's advt. claiming ARAI certified mileage?

dude look at the advt and even websites show that the mileage tested by ARAI under experimental conditions, our GS150R returned 62kmpl and even honda bikes are also certified except hero honda

                    * Mileage of Suzuki GS150R mentioned here is the ARAI mileage. ARAI mileage is calculated under standard test conditions. Real time mileage of Suzuki GS150R will be lesser than the quoted figure. Mileage of Bike doesn't vary with variants but with engine options like petrol - Suzuki GS150R.

Even if Unicorn's speedo shows a lesser Km than the exact KM, it would not run 58KM for a litre (Considering it a 150CC and driven at 50-60 KM/H)..

Thus i came to a conclusion that GS is showing more KM than the exact.

                      Hope you understand the fact.

I dont have any issues in the KM it shows in the speedo.

Any machines wont have 100% perfect. Just interested to find out.
GS150R uses the same contactless speedometer and odometer system that has been employed on the Karizma ZMR.........so the reading of the GS maybe anything but more exact than Unicorn anyday, considering the fact that such a set-up has no space to be error prone since it is free of the front wheel rotation and road speed translation of errors.

Owning a GS150R for 13 months now and my average mileage is around 55kmpl where in most of the times my bike is used riding above 80kmph,fast acceleration and decceleration and constant employment of clutch in city environs...........some 100cc and 125cc bikes fail to deliver such mileage in such conditions.

Mileage is literally a distance measured in miles!
ARAI never certifies fuel efficiency as MILEAGE, rather it's mentioned as Km/litre of Petrol or Diesel.

BTW: "The ARAI certified maximum mileage is 65kmpl." i found this on Mouthshut.com,

                        • Weird chain problem

Chain getting loose and touching the chainguard are known issues in our forum,

But in my GS during the past 11k kms I haven't faced any such chain issues, but today !!!!!

Returned from chennai after 3 days trip started driving my GS after three days gap some sound comming from chain but that doesn't sounds like a chain loose or chain touching the chain cover sound, so applied oil, while oiling found chain seems to be so stiff ( as if it is too tight) hence opened the chain guard to see it found its really much tight and stiff, I don't know how it became like that ?

Haven't got puncture during the past 2000 kms so no mistake or chance in fixing the rear wheel. Serviced at 9000 kms now my bike is 11122 kms old its time for service too have to check with my local mechanic tomorow.

when you did the can test for the diff settings, the road conditions(traffic, pot holes, temperature) were all the same each time?
My Road condition is a Village Road (Mud road), here it a windy season(some pages back i posted my GS picture with windmill)

I think I dont feel much difference but i will cross check this and report you back

The Speed Sensor of My Bike is Fixed properly by that TVS Mech Guy, so no problem in this and also i Tuned the Golden Screw after the Second Free service so if anything wrong with Speedo means SVC guys may informed it to me(while in the second service) but nothing happened like that, Today also i cross checked the Distance from my home to my Research center, the trip meter reading and original distance was same

                            • @All

I installed the Remote Security System(Roots Gladiator II) for GS
                              This works awesome,
I can start the Engine with Remote With No Fear on whether the Gear is engaged or Not.
There is Line for sensing Neutral Light so the engine will start only if the Gear Position is Neutral.
When any Gear is engaged, if i press the Engine Start Button on Remote means Just the Indicator Light will Flash once and the siren will give a Different Tone, but the Engine will not start through Remote until Neutral Line is Detected.
