Even I said like that and did so for my GS while it was new,

Am recommending that pratice as a new vehicle generates more scrap particles as all engine components are new and matting for the initial time

These scraped minute particles settles down in oil, thus changing engine oil at 200, 750 and 1500 will help in smooth ride and no need to say the new oil change will help on setting the engine well

That's the reason for strictly recommending mineral oil only during the run in phase

      • Advice req

Finally decided not to wait for the new GS-150R 2011 EDITION and my Favourite Greenish Blue Colour.

I made up my mind to pick up a candy orange GS from the dealer next week .
I would to allowed into their Godown to choose my bike before registration . So wat all factors should i consider before selecting my new Horse? I was told by the salesperson tat there r few GS wit CEAT TYRES on them. Not sure whether he s confused between the tyres of SLING SHOT. so if it happens to be true which one should i opt???

And how to distinguish a new bike and the bike used for test drives???

I wonder why the manufacturing company never recommends such frequent oil replacements. Not only Suzuki but none of the other bike manufacturers are instructing to change the oil before the first service. Perhaps the engineers designing the vehicle may not be aware of the contaminants in the oil.

Yours is a wise decision. Otherwise you may have to wait endlessly to get a newly designed GS or any other bike from Suzuki as they are not planning to market any new bike here in the near future.

New bikes are not given for test riding. Filling the oil, fitting the battery, washing etc. are done after you select the bike.

If Suzuki is fitting Ceat tyres on GS, it may not be for a few bikes but for a batch. If it is so, there may be no chance to select the tyre. The new GSs I saw today are with MRF tyres. Incase you get a chance, select one with MRF tyres.

Check the bike for any scratches or dents. Try to get something like saree guard, crash guard, seat cover etc free.

I am using Motul 300V 15W50 full synthetic without any problems. My bike is now vibration less and do not heat up as expected from a normal 150cc even after continuous operation in peak power and redline zones.Engine sounds new and unstressed.

I have used Motul 3000 4T plus before,it is a mineral grade oil.........very much compatible with the GS150R..........15W50 is nice.....starts in colder temps and endures high rev use.

@Vishnukmd: you must be joking..........Suzuki is more enthusiastic than ever to expand their network far and wide........even it is frantically searching to hoist a main-dealer in my city.
If it would not have been for marketing new models,Suzuki won't have pursued this strategy of theirs. They would have phased a slow exit like LML.
In this market without new and updated products.....a company is dead.
I hope, they want their new models to succeed and not fail and thus they are trying to make sure that the network is wide-spread before they launch them off.
The revamped GS150R is coming-every dealer without GS150R stock has the same thing to say....and it is coming with new design and name.
Next is a 100-110cc........Suzuki's building up wide market plan.....I think this time they would succeed.
The premium launch would be GW250 and the launch of such a bike would put a dent in the TVS premium market.

If the people who draws salary from Suzuki still chooses to remain blindfolded in their beliefs, they are welcome.

It won't make a difference to me,I always love Yamaha in absence of Suzuki...........still I do whatever I can for my Suzuki.

I am telling about them who keeps a tab on this thread from Suzuki.

But right now I need a cost estimation of few parts:
                    1.Fairing unit of the GS150R.
                    2.Handle
                    3.rear panels of both sides.
                    4.Tank...............

I want to change them......too many scratches........may use insurance, but still trying to get an estimation......please help me

                    • I have been hearing about the refreshed Gs150r/new sporty 150cc/slingshot150 from suzuki since March 2011. Its already end of June 2011, but still no new/refreshed bike in sight from suzuki. To make matters worse, the current gs150r too has disappeared from showrooms, just at the time when it was selling well. With honda opening its second manufacturing plant, for how long can suzuki afford to not have a 150cc bike in their product lineup. The sooner suzuki get the refreshed gs150r/sporty 150cc/slingshot150 into the market, the better for suzuki. Else, it could be too little too late for suzuki bikes in india.

Remember, maruthi cars are suzuki cars. It is unfortunate that suzuki, which is so successful in car market in India, is struggling in the bikes division. Guess the bike division needs to learn from the car division and bring in modern stylish bikes. Like yamaha SZ-R, even commuter bikes with full chain case can be stylish and light. Most importantly, suzuki need to ensure lighter bikes for good power-to-weight ratio and improve style of their bikes.

The dazzler is a good bike, but many customers dont buy it because it has no kicker and looks small. The apache is currently the only bike with both rear disk brake and kickstart option. Bring in a 150cc that looks neat like gs150r, but 8 kg lighter and slightly smaller, with rear disk brake and also retain kickstart. That could bring a crowd to suzuki showrooms, because suzuki products are built strong and price is very reasonable and honest compared to honda. But suzuki motorcycles seems to be in deep sleep in india as far as styling and upgrades go. yawn, yawn, yawn..

There was a lean phase when Gs R was not available . Now the situation has improved, Here in my city B'lore most dealers have stock of atleast 10 GS now(except Blue colour).
As far as i was told Suzu is planning to launch a 100 - 110 cc Bike first.

But as far as new/refreshed GS s concerned Suzu might provide the same quality at an increased cost or Reduced quality at the same cost
Remember now GS s one of the cheapest 150CC after Disco and SZ__ .

Seems to be well maintained. Now your 1st service is over. If you know how to change the oil and oil filter, clean the air filter, lubricate the chain etc, do all these yourself.

Use a good imported car shampoo and wax like Formula 1 (not Formula 1 USA), ArmorAll, 3M, Meguiars etc to wash and wax the bike and park under shade.

If well maintained and well handled, GS will give good mileage of around 65 kml or more precisely, 62-68 kml.

                            • I think being an employee of Suzuki needs a lot of good luck.........I wish to be one for sure, even if that is on part time or honorary or volunteering basis.

But some people want to waste that luck.

Can the so called "employees of Suzuki"......explain the poor marketing and domestic product line-up of the company in India ????

Can they call, the job they did with the company's reputation, is flawless ???

Healthy discussions are favored by truths and not by deception or wrong conception.
As far as I know PSR says and believes logical way of thinking........which is very right. But the learning never stops for anyone anywhere,Sharing and learning cannot be be termed unhealthy.

While not helping others and having personal grudge is surely unhealthy.

Right now I am in need of the price estimation of certain parts......and no one is answering me.......????? Can that be termed healthy ????
