No my friend i am not joking here, i used a special separate CAN (which from my brothers TVS service center) for this test.

(btw, if you spoil the threads in the golden screw, a new carb would cost like 6k, so i would recommend just leaving it as it is for now)
      cost of Carb is 6K
Thanks for you advise, now i dont have plan to seal the Golden screw

But motul was worth it compared to shell and veedol, i might use it again sometime.
Anyway, i guess you had mentioned some wax polish that you use for your bike, could you tell me what the name was. I remember you saying that its not meant specifically for bikes but it works better than most other polishes.
You better find your oil and stick to it for good .
OT - I am using the Waxpol Auto polish ( hard carnauba wax , comes in orange tubs for around 100Rs ) , since ages on everything , including as a shoe-polish ( it's better than the kiwi parade gloss , the other best high-gloss polish I know .. and I never wear unshined shoes ) . It is meant for cars (mainly) , bikes ( painted surfaces ) and whole lot of other things like wood , plastic , vnyl , leather , linoleum , chrome .

If the mileage is satisfactory and you are not to do any more tests, seal the golden screw using Araldite.

        • Mileage Vs Performance

          @ Arul Fast,

That's superb great mileage you are getting now.

I believe you tried it on a good nice highway ride.

If we tune it towards more mileage I feel it may impact on performance (i-e pickup, speed) so make sure the bike performance is. Not impacted.

Moreover as told by falcon, don't seal the golden screw as the mileage / performance of the bike may varry from time to time because even after crossing the run in period, still the bore, piston and other blah blah blah componunts are getting shapped day by day kms by kms so carb need to be get tuned again sooner accordingly....

Recently I used amway car wash ( one scoop donated by neighboor)

Its good and gives good shining tooo but cost seems to be around 266 rupees.

and the waxpool car wash with polish is worthy as it costs around 15 rupees per sachet, it comes for four washes as I used it only for the bike shining is good
Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity

Currently Using Gusto |Enfield Bullet 500 | Ecosport Titanium+ Diesel

          • I use the amway auto-wash too .. it's good , price is justified considering the recommended dilution , half a capfull per wash .

            • Issues !!

              Hi,

I did a 300 Km round trip yesterday from Chennai - Thirupathi with my Unicorn and GS. My Unicorn Shows 296KM (Showed the same in all previous trips) whereas GS shows 307KMs.

I am wondering if this is the reason that GS owners (Now including me !)
get very decent mileage with their GS...

I usually get 58Kmpl to 61Kmpl with Unicorn

Have been facing issues from the first day with my GS. .

The bike also stopped a few kms after taking from delivery. We had to walk back all the way to get it fixed... !!

Also the next day it got stopped in the mid of a highway. Disconnected the sparkplug holder and inserted the wire to the sparkplug and rode back home.. It is currently running with a TVS Victor Spark Plug Holder !!. The backlight does not work on applying brake..

Any comment on Suzuki service at Chennai ?? I noticed that there were damages in the side cowl and seat on the day of delivery. The same was repalced from a bike which came for Service !.. The replaced seat which looks good is not fitting properly.

Hope it is all fixed in the first service

MA2 is a standard designed by JASO as SL by API. Castrol claims that their Power 1 SS oil exceeds the requirements of SL and MA2 standards but do not claim that they are certified by API or JASO. I cannot understand what is wrong in their claim.

Ask to replace the spark plug cap with one of Sues or SlingShot and get the rear brake light switch adjusted. Get the seat replaced if it is not fitting properly. Riding with a faulty seat is dangerous.

Don't wait until first service to get the faulty parts replaced. It is better to approach the SC at the earliest; if possible, today itself.

Covered 650Kms in 7 days.. Service Center is far from my locality. Anyway i wont be using it much this week(Max 7Km/day) as alternatives are available.. Will give the bike to service before weekend.

And any idea about the Speedo KM readings ?? There is a 10KM difference between both bikes for the same trip.

If the KM readings are set in such a way, there is no point in telling that GS gives an awesome mileage. I am going to check my Friends GS with my Unicorn and both the GS with some other brand bikes. Will update the same asap.

This is the first time I am hearing about this problem. How are you sure that the Unicorn is showing the correct distance?
This difference of 11 kms is in a distance of 296 kms and it is about 3.71%. It may be possible in every bike. The odometer is connected to front sprocket of the bike. Please ensure that there is no loose connection in it.

Owning Unicorn for 18 months now(18,000 Km), the mileage i get is 58Plus..

Even if Unicorn's speedo shows a lesser Km than the exact KM, it would not run 58KM for a litre (Considering it a 150CC and driven at 50-60 KM/H)..

Thus i came to a conclusion that GS is showing more KM than the exact.

                        Hope you understand the fact.

I dont have any issues in the KM it shows in the speedo.

Any machines wont have 100% perfect. Just interested to find out.

Need few helps regarding GS.. Will surely need your help if some issues(gearbox, engine noise - not tick tick sound, chain constantly brushing the chain guard, etc etc) still persists after first service...

Just now, i read the user manual of Roots Security system in that there is page that shows the circuit diagram for our GS(as in the Below Picture), Today i am going to fit the security system and report it back

While replacing the stator coil, the mechanic may have opened the front sprocket cover of your bike. All the meters in the instrument panel are connected to the front sprocket. Open the sprocket cover and ensure that the speed sensor is not loosely connected.

                              Hi Firegun,
                              Have a doubt..

when you did the can test for the diff settings, the road conditions(traffic, pot holes, temperature) were all the same each time?

can you post a photo of your current Screw position compared to the original position.

Although the can method is proven i still have a small doubt over this method as one cannot judge mileage of a vehicle over a short distance. will actual riding through traffic etc yield the same results?

                                1. For tunning the Golden screw i came to know one thing that is we dont need huge turns for tunning. For Example if turn the Golden screw for about 1 or 2 mm the Result will differ of about 1-1.2 km per 100ml of petrol, so we need much calm in tunning this Golden Screw.

                                2. I was socked with the different mileage obtained while in different Modes at same carb. Settings(please i request some senior members to Explain why there is such difference in mileage while switching the Modes)

                                Notes:
                                1. I used 100ml of Petrol for every Test i made
                                2. Before Starting each and every test it is clear that the Carb. was emptied until the engine dies.
                                3. I ride every test around 4 - 5.5k RPM

Foot Note: Guys Please make your comments or suggestion or ideas about this Small Research
                                Wow.. great.

Can you elaborate the procedure in which you have done the testing (rom rising the idle screw to completion of test)?

After this setting, did you find the difference in engine note and performence?
