  • @sparkot: Ive had my paid services done on both extremities of the week and was charged not more than 300.

@gs150: You mean to say you were charged Rs.450 as labour for the replacement? or did you get it serviced separately?

If its regular service and if its including engine oil, then youre getting it cheap! They charge about Rs.260 for the oil at my SC. So, ith 560 with labour.

Rs 450 was the final bill after service which includes labour and service charges and tax.

A few nuts here and there = critical.
saree guard = couldnt care less.
Side stand bottom = Its just a spot here and there.

Suzuki is replacing every rusting part in the warranty period and the fuel tank after that period too.
The dealer hesitates to replace because they are losing the sales commission. Besides this, they have targets for the sales of bikes, spare parts, number of bikes serviced etc and incentive for all these.
Ask to replace the rusting parts including the saree guard.

also if you choose a less crowded(weekdays) day you might end with a higher cost.

my last paid service cost me Rs 300/-
          - without any replacements
          - just cleaning. I suppose you can ask them for itemised bill listing specific details.

The allowed rate is Rs. 100/- per hour of work but the quantity of time taken is decided by the mechanic. A good part of his monthly income is the incentive he gets for selling spare parts.

ok. I'll get it replaced. Greedy showrooms.

              • ^^ So youve got friends at the SC.

                220 - labour
                50 - consumables
                30 - tax

Thats the approximate here as I remember it.

                  • ^^ To each his own, but I think the second set of graphics suit our bike better than either the older one or the new one.

                        • you are right Aneesh. Actually I wanted to buy 10 mm and 8 mm sockets also. They were not available in my village shop and will be made available to me in the next month.
The three sockets and handle cost me Rs.65 + Rs. 65 + Rs.45 + Rs.120 i.e total Rs.295. It may be much cheaper in Chennai.
                          Regards,
                          Partho.

Nice. Then, you have decided to do some maintenance works yourself. Congratulations. Buy an 8 mm “T” spanner for oil filter cap and front sprocket cover and a 10 mm socket spanner for chain cover, as Aneesh suggests. Try to avoid using open end spanners as far as possible.

All along this, I was concentrating on interior(tubular orifice) for rust. Will post my tank's pic soon. you'll be able to tell the difference.

PS: I don't clean my bike daily/weekly. I clean when a I feel like; so far only twice in almost 10 months.
