Binil and I got this beast almost at the same time, just a month here and there. I am not much active on this forum and also with my motorcycle traveling for about one year. I have met Binil few times. He is a gem of a guy with lot of knowledge and channels his knowledge in the right way through right forum. Not the one who boasts about his knowledge. I am not trying to flatter him. There is no need for me to. But, just wanted to say this.

@brokenbinil how are you buddy. Whats going to be your next beast. Let us catch up some time. Will whatsapp you soon. I guess you are still having same number and still have my number

Those are some BIG words buddy ... I believe knowledge is of no use till you share it. Also, one cannot know everything. We should be open to learn everyday from anyone for that matter.
Its been long we have not met. Let's do it soon.
My bike's up for sale, I am sure I will still be active here even after I sell her. :P

I will surely be around. I love this bike and the bunch of people here. Would love to contribute in whatever way I can.

Regarding what I will upgrade to ... well that's still in the planning.

I am looking for a adv for sure. New or Used is being contemplated. TRK 502x is tempting but I am put off only by the weight.

Let me put a seed of thought here. - What if I retain the 300. Change the front shocks to that of the 502x (if it's different) and get the 19/17 inch spoke wheel set.

I know a lot of sparks are firing as you read this !!!

Sadly I too am selling my Benelli.....Hard to believe a year has gone by since I got her....The past few days ride , I had to make a hard choice.

My wife is my constant ride partner, as she loves rides just like me...When we were coming back from Madurai in last Nov, as we crossed Pollachi, she got a very painful cramp. We stopped for about 15 mts rubbing the calf muscle and stopped at my parents place palakkad for 3hrs as it had become unbearable for her. I understood the situation as my two Rynox saddle bags were too forward and her legs were angled too much at back.

Sunday before last we took a ride to Nelliampathy and back, about 160 kms one way and again on the way back she got a cramp in the same place and this time we didnt have any luggage. Now I knew the pillion seating is not suited for long distance. Like the rider the legs are bent back which is not good as more pressure is put on her calves and more so when I apply breaks. And on downhill rides she constantly slips forward and has to keep adjusting herself which is an irritant more for her than me ! On my front, the entire weight of my body comes on my palms as the posture is a slightly forward leaning. After 9000 odd kms of riding my palms have callouses which now pain after 2 to 3 hours of riding....My back starts paining after 2 hours, due to the slightly forward lean posture..

I am not sure I will be able to do any really long distance....last weekend we went Kochi kanyakumari ...The stretch between trivandrum to kanyakumari was a nightmare....with bad roads and even worse traffiic through a very narrow NH. It was the worst ride I ever had, and by the time we were back in trivandrum both of us got tired. And then again on the way back to Kochi she got the cramps....So this finally made up my mind...

I have but a few years to work and maybe another few years of riding and I need comfort for long distance....

So painfully we made up our mind to give up the Benelli and look for a good used Tiger XR....Yes its a huge decision in terms of money, but if I dont do it now, I will never do it....Riding solo in the 600i is a dream, but with a partner for short rides its ok....but no, its definitely is not a 2 person long distance bike. With plans of going to North India we dont have any other choice. Its better to spend the money on a Tiger , I feel, rather than buy a new Versys 650 or a V Strom 650.

If I could afford to keep two bikes, I would have definitely kept her. For me she has given immense riding pleasure and not a single problem.......

All the best - hope you get a good bike you are looking out for.

In the mean time.... The concerns you have highlighted are things that can be tackled with slight adjustments. Saying this as I have traveled 5000kms in one trip Bangalore to Kutch and back down the western coast with my girlfriend as pillion. She is as tall as me. We are both 5.8 feet. This was with luggage. We did not face much of an issue.

            Things I can suggest :

            1. Sri Hari in Bangalore has got the GT 600 handle bars for his 300. The difference is mind-blowing, especially for touring usage. - i have not done this but I have ridden this bike and it feels great.

            2. Gets seats modded a bit to suit the need. Rao Seats in Bangalore does an amazing job in designing seats which give added support to the buttocks and thighs making riding a pleasure. - Only if other options do not work.

            3. Yes, There still is the issue of seating posture. My girlfriend is 5.8 feet tall, so I can totally understand what you mean by the legs being bent.
She never faced an issue, we followed some procedures to ensure that though.
            a. We both do stretches and some basic warm up exercises before we start a long journey.
            b. I encourage her to tell me to stop if there is any discomfort. Regular breaks and some stretching goes a long way.
            c. Regular clothes will slid on our seats, get some basic riding pants. I use the Rynox Air Tex pants with base liners from Decathlon. Trust me it does wonders in matter of comfort and staying on the seat.
            d. Get the luggage carrier sorted. Even an inch of luggage creeping into the heel or onto the seating area will cause discomfort.

            4. Posture goes a long way. How you sit ? How your pillion sits ? Here are some tips that have helped me.
            a. Ensure you and pillion have good shoes, I am not asking you to get riding boots. For touring purpose the Forclaz 600 from decathlon works well. Look out for sales. Very comfy and helps in hiking too. Breathable and waterproof with good ankle support.
            b. Sitting on the bike. Rider - Considering you are touring, remember that your elbows should not be locked. Fore arms should be flexible and not stiff. The weight should not come onto your palms or wrist. Hold the tank with your thighs, If you are doing it right, your thighs should hurt a bit after a spirited ride in the ghats. Pillion - Ask pillion to hold your waist using the knee (like lock self on to the riders waist). This will prevent her from sliding around to quite an extent. Added support in a leisurely ride can be the riders shoulders. Just hold lightly, not grab it. If you are riding fast as to hold around you and take support of the tank in front of you. Again this helps in avoiding slides.

Try a few minor changes, you will see results. Trust me apart from the rider, the pillion also needs to contribute a bit to enjoy the ride. Hope I made some sense.

Considering you have not yet sold the bike. Try a few of the options, if you want to hold on, before you take the final call.

              Binil,

I spoke to the Kochi service manager. He said he will try and let me know in a weeks time whether they can source the handle bar. He says most probably all the cables might be needed to be changed to GTs as he is not sure the length of the current cabless will be enough, he is checking into that too.

Will try the seating mentioned for the pillion in our next sunday ride. If I can sort these both out, I will not think of selling my 600i.....And I would save a lot of hard earned money too ! !

                Hi Mumbai guys,

The Andheri SVC (ISHNA) is closed down without any notice leaving owners high & dry.
Now only Thane SVC & dealer is operational.
Not sure of the reason for SVC closure.
                Regards,

That's a bummer. Hope they have lined up another dealer.

Apart from the points mentioned by @binil look into the following points too...

                      1. Saddlebag carrier.
Get a saddle frame with carrier which extends outside the pillion seat. This will help the pillion riders to sit comfortably. Additionally you can get a back rest for pillion.

                      2. Sitting posture.
As mentioned by binil, posture plays a very important role. If you r locking your elbow while riding, you will feel the strain after couple of hundred kms, even if you take breaks. Locking your elbow puts all the pressure to you palms and unconsciously you tend to grip tighter which adds up to the problem. Sit straight loosen up your elbow and grip. Your grip should be like holding a raw egg. This takes practice so go for short rides consciously doing the same. If you feel the handle is bit far for your body, you can get GT handle or get a handle risers and adjust handle angle to suit your needs. Check this out for the same(Motorbike Handle Bar Clamp Extend Handlebar Riser Kits For Benelli BJ300 TNT300 BN300 BJ TNT BN 300
                      https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/cUmZpqnW).
And don't rest you feet with arch on the foot peg instead try using heel or sole while sitting. For rider heel is the best option. for pillions the can rest their feet with heel or sole whichever is comfortable for them

                      3. Health
Riders and pillion riders should have a healthy and active lifestyle. Cramps usually occurs when you strain muscle parts which is rarely used. Warming up before every ride helps, but not as much as a regular exercise. I would suggest active sports like batminton since most people wouldn't hit gym so that they can ride bikes.
Anither common reason for cramps is dehydration. Keep your body hydrated all the time. Always carry a bottle of water and pack of electrolytes. You should consume more water during ride compared to your regular consumption.

Even i had the same issues and above are few things that helped me.

                        Hi guys,

Nikhil here from pune. I just bought a used benelli 300. I am totally in love with the beast, but there are a few shortcomings. I am looking to add auxilary lights next to the headlamps like many other members have done. Can someone help me out with a few pics as to how to mount the lamps? Also, i loved the note of Ixil x55. I would love to buy one, but is a bit expensive and out of my budget. Is there any other exhaust that sounds close to the x55?

                        Thanks in advance,

                          Regarding AUX Light Mounts -

I am using this one - Light Clamp Mounting Bracket
Order the 2 Inch variant. Works well for our USD Shocks.

You can also try making something like this - under the headlight mount

Not sure what this does but i am really worried now. I will be going to the service center today evening. However, do any of you guys know what this sensor is for? Its on the right side near the engine block head. Also, im from nigdi and i can see 2 benelli outlets in google. One in baner and the other a bit far away (A B automotive center). Can you guys help me out as to which service centre to be visited?

Hi, I'm also from Pune and for a new TnT 300 this January. I don't know what that connector is for, but I can help you with the service centre.

The one that you see on Baner road is only showroom, and no servicing is done there. The one you need to visit is the service centre (Google Maps location below).

                                Benelli - A B Automottive - Pune Service Center
Plot no.: 427/10, Lahane Road, Opp. Chandrashekhar Agashe College, Shankar Rao Lohane Marg, Gultekdi, Pune, Maharashtra 411037
                                020 2427 2050
Find local businesses, view maps and get driving directions in Google Maps.

You might want to call Mr Amit Pathak, the service manager there, on +91 74200 12076 before your go to schedule an appointment.

                                How this helps!
