Yep. I went to the Kawasaki showroom at Dhole Patil road, Pune two months ago to try out the Z250

The manager there actually stated that the only way for me to get a test ride (for the Ninja, at least) was to:
      1. First book the bike first by paying Rs 30k,
      2. Take it for a spin
      3. Cancel the order and get a full refund.

For the Z250, the standard line over the duration of a month was that there were no Z250's for sale in the country, and no imports were expected in the immediate future.

Guess Kawasaki expects us to plonk down 4 lakh without even bothering to check if we like the bike or feel comfortable riding it. Needless to say, I immediately decided to go for the Benelli TNT-300.

@Pune people: the guys at Benelli are asking for a Maha e-Seva Kendra Certificate as part of the required documentation for RTO registration. Can anyone shed some light on what this is, why it's required and how to get it? I don't recall being asked for anything like it when I registered my FZ-S back in 2010.

That is the only reason why I'm not considering kawasaki. I liked ninja 300 a lot but the sales person doesn't act like he actually wants to sell the bike.

Hey buddy try to post it under Bike registration thread. I checked with one of the TNT300 owner & he said he did not require such document. Probably they are asking for address proof or something like.

Guys, I'm in a very confusing situation. I have visited and called Benelli showroom in Cochin a few times and each time they quote a different price. Now they have quoted 4.99 which is not a good number at all. Initially I wasn't intent on purchasing this bike and was looking at a getting a 390 and wanted to compare them just to get a perspective. But now, my parent are against the duke and asked me to look at the Benelli. But this behaviour from the showroom is just strange and disheartening. If anyone here bought a TNT in Kerala, I'd like to know your experience and more importantly the price.

                Hi buddy,
The prices were revised twice in Bangalore. Once due to rto tax changes n then by Benelli. So when I first went to enquire. The bike was 3.54, then by the time I booked and got delivery it was 3.65, now its 3.70. So yes there have been increment s .... Din know Kerala was more expensive.
                i don't have a carbon footprint, i ride everywhere !

Thanks bro, an increment of 20k or so is understandable and possible due to tax differences. But a solid 1L is just not making any sense to me. I'd love to get this bike but I didn't want my folks to have any burden from me buying a bike. That is why I decided for the Duke, the VFM aspect. Now that they are ready to help me get this, I don't mind. But these variations in quotes and their approach towards me is pissing me off. They don't take me seriously, I don't think me looking like a school boy should affect their approach to me, cause that could lose them a customer. I hope that my mom misheard 3.99 as 4.99. Else I'm getting a Duke. But I really got excited now and now a 390, while faster, won't pull at heart the same way as it would have if I hadn't been given this idea.

Go to the showroom and get a quote. N book accordingly. That way you would have a better idea. ... A lakh increase doesn't make sense.

It's not only the price (I faced similar issue only due to price change), but I have to say that DSK is not able to handle the service well too. There is no issue with the bike or quality of any part, but service all together is not at all satisfying.
When I faced the issue, I thought may be it's early & over the period of time things will improve. I was wrong.
But it seems that the things have become more worst. There are guys who are not on any forum have faced major issues due to the bad service. One case I know in which the technicians at DSK's so called Excellence Center broke a part during root cause analysis & instead of replacing it, they used some cheap jugaad (used feviquick & duct tape) to fix it. Later in Mumbai SVC they found out the issue & escalated.
So see how the service at your place & only then decide.
                      Regards,

Is this the service center in Pune? There are too many complaints about them in sales and service. Seems to be arrogant and not customer centric. At least that's the feedback I have got.
The guys at Bangalore have been good. Atleast I haven't faced any untowardly issues yet. Will be going next week for my 2nd service. ...

On that note : I feel that the service intervals are too close. I have done 3500 + kms after first service and the oil is in very good condition. Feels like it can run another 3000kms. What's ur take on this ?

I too feel so.. I guess 6k or 6 month interval like Kawasaki should be the benchmark. May be for some reason its placed like this. But I have no idea why.

Yes, it's for Pune. I heard otherwise as earlier guys from Mumbai were getting their bike serviced there. But it seems the technicians there have left the job or moved elsewhere due to which job is now done by unskilled technicians.
Regarding service interval we can not do anything as it is related to warranty so we can't change the interval. In my case as I said, they used 300V during first service. So during 2nd service when they drained the oil, the green shade of the oil could be clearly seen. But follow the service schedule as it gets reported to Benelli as well.
