Re: Benelli TNT 300 Ownership Experience
Its time, after lurking in this tread for almost 6 months, its time.
A liltle background, I am a proud owner of a lovely yzf r15 v2, but with a heavy heart i say goodbye to my ..... by this weekend she will be galloping Chennai roads with someone else on it. I needed a change from the super-sport stance and want to ride with ease yet i want power at my disposal. I don't want to be forced to speed up just to enjoy my ride (looking at you r15). Don't get me wrong if i had the money i would have kept the r15, she has got the best riding dynamics in its segment yada yada and so on.
But I'm here to talk about the day I met benelli. I was stuck in traffic at sardar patel road(adayar) and i hear a green naked whiz past me. Boy oh boy was I hooked. That exhaust note
(eargasm any one?). I look at the tank and spot the name "benelli". The bike felt big for a 300cc. I recalled the name from some documentary i watched on YouTube long back.
That day on i have been hooked to this forum.
I have a few questions to the owners before i make my final decision
- How is the service center in Chennai.
- Is the made in china stereotype any true?.
- I read in a news article that ABS variant is coming soon. How soon can i expect it on road?
I am yet to take a test ride. I plan to do in soon after my hectic work schedule is behind me by this month end.
And finally thanks to "The Monk" who manually verified my account since I lost the account verification mail in a spam clear session.
Ride safe,

I have a few questions to the owners before i make my final decision
- How is the service center in Chennai - SC centre in Chennai is located in the Arcot road (while you travel from Virugambakkam towards Vadapalani, look out for the Ceebros building after the Avichi School, take the first left after the signal and it will lead you the SVC, in case you are not sure of the route). I would not say it is the best in class atleast by its looks as it is an annexe building of the Hyundai SVC. But the technicians attending the bikes are one of the best I have seen. I feel all Benelli owners who has interacted with Prashanth or Sarathy will say the same.
- Is the made in china stereotype any true? - Not at all, if you look closely, you wont even feel it so. But, certain areas could have been improved. I am saying this based on the 600i view since I own one. Switch gear could have been better especially the indicator and the side panels could have been a bit stronger. I feel certain plastic is a little plasticky. Other than that, its solid built for high speed rides.
- I read in a news article that ABS variant is coming soon. How soon can i expect it on road? - No freaking idea. If you have to keep waiting. you may end up waiting for ever, No offense.
I am yet to take a test ride. I plan to do in soon after my hectic work schedule is behind me by this month end. - I would advice you to do that first. You may take the inputs of others from this forum, but your real feel of the bike counts more.

Dhanushkodi - The last time I was there they were beginning to build a road till the ghost town. I hope it never completes. It's gonna ruin the place. Did you take the bike till the end through the off road swampy stretch ?Originally posted by experimentalhead View PostCompleted Solo trip

Re: Benelli TNT 300 Ownership Experience
Well this friday i went about to test ride Duke390, Z250, TNT300
- Duke 390/Z250: Went to KTM anna salai, they said only RC200 was available and directed me to KTM ashok pillar. When i got there and asked them for a duke390 and z250 test ride they said they give 390s for test ride only at adayar ktm and z250 test bike was not there anywhere in chennai(it seemed like they were really not interested in selling them either) . Although i have ridden duke 390 before i wanted to test it on the same day with z250 and tnt300 for better comparison, well atleast i tried.
- TNT300: Just walked in to DSK benelli, asked them for a test ride, without much fuss i was on the test bike in 5 mins. Man what a fantastic motorcycle, every one on the road had their eyes on this beauty. People ahead of me were turning back to check out the source of the grunt. One of the apprehensions I had about this bike was built quality, however the bike felt really well built. In fact built quality is way superior to KTM as far as I know. The 300's engine was the star, it was smooth but gave very nice feed back(felt like it was alive and all
) . The bike was not jumpy like KTM, it felt at ease at low speed city traffic (which is what exactly what i am looking for).
Verdict: D390 vs TNT300, TNT300 wins hands down for me.
Had inquired about ABS version for TNT300. I was told by feb next year it will be available.

He previously owned a RC 390 and now owns a T3. He even touched 172 kmph on the T3 and said the bike was rock solid at high speeds and also had very good braking power. As I gaze upon your beauty, I think to myself, "never have I seen an angel fly so low".

Re: Benelli TNT 300 Ownership Experience
Seems to be an issue with KTM/Kawasaki everywhere. In Bangalore. Went to Kiviraj Motors. Least bothered to even check why we are there. Went 4 times to be told there is no test bike in n300 or z250. The staff is dumb does not have the facts right. ONe tired to sell the n300 to my friend saying that its better as its got slipper clutch. He had no answer when he was asked what it does.Originally posted by ridermusings View PostWell this friday i went about to test ride Duke390, Z250, TNT300

Had to pull strings and a few calls to get a test bike. Z250 - was a test bike. N300 - They gave a bike which is used in the race track. No rear foot pegs, no number plates, no rear view mirrors. N badly maintained.
Do not know how Kawasaki manages to sell bikes without any test rides.

Before buying TNT 300, even I went to KTM and Kawasaki showroom, the sales person was least bothered to sell the bike. When I asked them for the rest ride , no bikes were available
