Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Top speed won't change by changing oil. It is a little thicker than stock 10w30, so you will need to warm up for about 2-5 minutes in the morning. Yes, during traffic it heats up, but nothing too serious. This engine runs quite hot so it is normal.

Hi,
I just wanted to know that in Hornet 160 CBS model, will the rear disc break be as responsive as Front disc brake, like when u press the rear disc will it come to stand still suddenly or it just reduce the speed progressively. how is the effect in u people hornet 160 CBS. Just guide me on this CBS thing.

CBS is much better than std brakes. The stopping distance is much lesser when compared to regular breaking. This is in part due to the triple pot front disc and two pot rear disc. The CBS system basically activates both when the rear brake is applied. I would suggest you take the bike for a test ride and check yourself.Originally posted by sriramp87 View PostHi,

I have just given mine for painting under warranty. I was wondering, is the new paint job good? Has the rusting stopped?Originally posted by darthvader_omi View PostI always follow the manual. Changing oil only at 6k kms. If the manual says it, its designed to last. Honda is not dumb to risk its motorcycles getting screwed over if someone follows the manual rigorously. So far I've ridden 3k kms with no oil change. I ride 70kms everyday, averaging 80-90 on the highway. I haven't seen any change in efficiency, or fuel economy or roughness. I wash and lube my chain regularly. The engine gets gunk from the chain as it is the only mechanical member which goes into the engine.

Bro, welcome to the club. Even I am facing severe rusting issues. My entire sub frame is re painted and fixed. My steering bolts also caught rust and have been changed. Looks like we are in the same boat. I called Honda 2 Wheelers India, the main office in Delhi. They informed me that because its a new product, issues like this happen. They asked if anything else was wrong. I was told that this is absolutely not normal and I can have my entire bike replaced if it comes to that. In my previous post on this issue, I have told members facing this issue to complain to Honda so that a recall for rusting can be issued.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Changed to Motul 7100 10w40 Fully Synthetic today.
The engine oil drain bolt can be opened using a 12mm ring spanner.
Drained honda mineral oil after using it for 400+ kms so that I can fully use motul 7100 until my next service which is in march 2017.
The oil that came out was dark brown but was not burnt had many suspended gunk particles. Cleaning part was good imo. I made sure that even the last drop of oil came out it was around 100-150ml more than a litre.
After changing to motul 7100 the engine instantly became vibe free and Rev happy. Knocking sound has also been eliminated.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Definitely going to shift to Motul Synthetic
Quoted from article: Oil Specifications Explained - What does 10w40 mean?
VISCOSITYMost oils on the shelves today are "Multigrades", which simply means that the oil falls into 2 viscosity grades (i.e. 10w-40 etc)
Multigrades were first developed some 50 years ago to avoid the old routine of using a thinner oil in winter and a thicker oil in summer.
In a 10w-40 for example the 10w bit (W = winter, not weight or watt or anything else for that matter) simply means that the oil must have a certain maximum viscosity/flow at low temperature. The lower the "W" number the better the oil's cold temperature/cold start performance.
. This is a fixed limit and all oils that end in 40 must achieve these limits. Once again the Your handbook will specify whether a 30, 40 or 50 etc is required.------------------
