Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
i somehow maintain 29/29(solo) , 29/33(pillion) bcoz of our famous Indian road's , bcoz the cbr 250r got the same rear tyre now and they maintain the same,it will not affect your balance too( again personal preference )Originally posted by Motomonster View PostAFAIK it is 25/25 for only rider and 25/29 with pillion. 3 psi shouldn't matter .

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
congo buddy congoOriginally posted by wdrwilfred View PostDear friends, after reading various reviews online & the reviews by X-BHPians I narrowed down to Hornet. This is my 2nd motor bike after HH Splendour which I used 2001-2005. My red Hornet 10 days old, covered 460 km. So far the experience is good. Since the manual says run-in period till 500 km I am just following 3500-4000 rpm & speed around 50 kmph. It is a big challenge to run under 50 kmph, when it can go much more. Ride is comfortable. Also my usage were 50/50 - city/highway (since while going to office in early morning when traffic is very less I could ride @ 5th gear & evening will get stuck in heavy traffic so frequent gear changes. Hence 50/50). At times I was tempted to cross 55 kmph, but I felt anything above 4500 rpm the engine is harsh (May be because the engine is new & due for the first oil change.) But still the power band being at 6500 rpm to 8500 rpm, I thought to be smooth till 6500 rpm at least. Is this harsh behaviour above 4500 rpm is normal ??
Regarding the mileage it gave 62 km/l. At the time of delivery the dealer told they had put 1 litre, then I had filled the petrol for Rs 500 ie., 7.92 litres, then I turned the knob to ON mode from RES. I was hoping a FE of 45+ so expecting to be forced to turn the knob to RES mode when it crosses ~ 310-320 km (at ~320 km the fuel indicator was at the last band.) But it kept continuing till 412 & the last band started blinking. I was in total disbelief may be the gauge or the main/reserve mechanism isn't working. Then I read another ownership review about Unicorn 160 & I understood that if the last bar is blinking then it is nearing the reserve mode. At 452 km it went to reserve. I was happy about this. Anyway after run-in period & first service I may take to long drive and definitely ride above 70-80 kmph so there will be drop in mileage. Still hoping it will give 45 km/l. I am planning to give first service @ around 850 - 900 km.
Also friends, I have one query regarding the tyre pressure. The manual says 25/29 psi for front/rear. I was filling the same at the air filling station. Just adjacent to me one more guy was filling at 30/40 psi. It was Hero bike of 150 cc segment only. What is the pressure generally followed without giving any issues ??
, my bike is 10 days old and im near 550km, well after 4k rpm the sound is bit harsh but after 5.5k rpm its gone ( i tested with the test ride bike lol )
, and after 500km im riding at 5k rpm except 1st n 2nd gear. and i have posted a reply on air pressure though its personal choice.

but moto, if its that much visible then i guess its just ir-responsibility of dealer, coz when i inspect my bike before delivery i told him that if i c even 1 deep or visible scratch, you have to change my bike in front of me.Originally posted by Motomonster View PostThese are present on all bikes formed due to dust cleaning

ya i guess its common in all bikes cause its only visible when u carefully inspect the bike its like loving your wife i wanted to put 3m coating but my study says if we invest in coating every 6 months 2 years itl be approximately 3000 rs so in that i can buy new tank shrauds on both the sides so brand new bike after 2 years

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Hello all, Got my Hornet yesterday. Will like to know if any thing specific to follow during first 500 or 1000kms. The mechanic suggested trying to be below 5k revs & 50kmph speed.
Have been a long follower of xbhp & am sure the my bike & biking both gonna benefit a lot from being with you guys. Thanks.

Oh, that is nice to know after 5.5k rpm it is smooth. Have you changed the oil along with filter after 500 km ??Originally posted by Ayns View Postcongo buddy congo

yeah, I think little more psi above the standard won't harm I hope. But again I think when the tyre pressure is more, the cushioning effect on the tyre is gone (also the friction with road reduces), so you have to be very careful while applying the brakes in the sandy road (thin film of sand or gravel on the road), bike may skid.Originally posted by Ayns View Posti somehow maintain 29/29(solo) , 29/33(pillion) bcoz of our famous Indian road's , bcoz the cbr 250r got the same rear tyre now and they maintain the same,it will not affect your balance too( again personal preference )

Congrats !. Till atleast 500 km, better to be under 50 kmph. Under 50 kmph means you might not even cross 4200 rpm (from my experience). But as quoted by Ayns after 500 km I think gradually (I mean phase by phase till 1500 km ) the rpm can be raised (may be around 5000-5500 till 1000 km)

I am looking for some cover, Sometimes it feels uncomfortable on long because of friction between pant and seat.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Hi, thanks. No I along with mine other 4 fellow hornet owners here have not got covers. To my knowledge honda dealerships of 3 towns/cities (Mau, Azamgarh, Lucknow) are not providing them.Originally posted by skbikes View PostCongrats for your new bike. Drive safe

To add I even have not got the seat cover yet.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
It has a hard suspension setup and is comparable to unicorn160 but the old unicorn is softer.Originally posted by nirmalnimz View PostHi everyone,
Is this bike giving the same comfort as that of CB Unicorn while riding in bad road conditions /bumpy roads? Or is it's suspension better than unicorn?
