but moto, if its that much visible then i guess its just ir-responsibility of dealer, coz when i inspect my bike before delivery i told him that if i c even 1 deep or visible scratch, you have to change my bike in front of me.
This is very common with Hornet I guess. I delayed taking delivery of my bike because of this reason only. Unfortunately all the Hornets are with minor scratches. The dealership people casually say that its common and we can't avoid it.

Off late Honda is least bothered for quality. I can see so many parts in the Hornet with such low quality. Sometimes I even felt that its simply not worth a lac.

Which parts did appear as inferior?? While test drive I felt the switch gear was of low quality but served well the purpose, so ignored it.

            Hi friends ,
Today I noticed that chain slack is almost 2 inches.the lower part of chain moves up by about two inches but doesn't go down by any amount .I got the chain adjustment done at535 kms and kilometers travelled is450 kms.is it normal for chain to get loosened in 500kms or is there any problem with my riding style.

            • Break-pads in touch with Disc (CBS)

              Hello all,
My friend has bought CBS Hornet. While we were inspecting bike manually, we found that break pads are in touch with disc. So, when we rotated tyres with hands, we could hear noise of pads having friction with disc and tyre stopped rotating earlier as compared to other bikes.

Can you explain what's the issue? Honda mechanic says, it is okay. But, it may heat up disc and wear out even when not applied.

              Please help out here.

PS: Where do you attach helmet?
              Ride hard, Ride safe! :D

It is normal for disc brakes. After you drive for 10k or 12k the noise and friction will drop.

[QUOTE=wdrwilfred;1209300]Oh, that is nice to know after 5.5k rpm it is smooth. Have you changed the oil along with filter after 500 km ??

                    ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

nah, i will do my frst service within 820 km, n i will go for 10W 30 engine oil.

yeah, I think little more psi above the standard won't harm I hope. But again I think when the tyre pressure is more, the cushioning effect on the tyre is gone (also the friction with road reduces), so you have to be very careful while applying the brakes in the sandy road (thin film of sand or gravel on the road), bike may skid.

yeah im very careful at that point bdw thanx for saying

As per manual, for every 1000 km the chain slackness need to be checked & adjusted, but in ~ 500 km I will check with my other friends & let you know.

It is perfectly OK with disk brakes. This situation do not happen in drum brakes as there is spring which help to retract after you release the brake, where as for disc there is no springs to retract. Once you ride for about 1 or 2 km there will be a retraction a bit. If there is this friction even after continuous riding then it is to be checked.

Helmet you have to attach in the crash guard only I guess.

Dear friends, I have a query here regarding the engine oil change. Those who change oil on their own or in the petrol bunks are you also changing the oil filter as well at the same time ?

I believe hornet has a centrifugal oil filter and needs to be replaced after piling in 10-15k kilometers. I am not sure about the duration of replacement.

per manual, it needs to be lubricated every 1000 km. The driving style also have some effect on the chain wear. ( as per manual) e.g., hard acceleration

As per my understanding riding fast in the rough patches of roads (which makes the more vigorous suspension up/down movement) or not downshifting the gear at the right speed ... just my thought . I could not get much answer on what may cause the drive chain to slack apart from default wear and tear. let's put this question in the other relevant topic thread to get the expert's thoughts.

Thank you all! We'll get it checked from Honda Showroom again. May be need to buy helmet lock to attach to leg-guard.

How much tyre pressure should be kept? Should it be changed if there's a pillion rider?
