Is it in Kolkata ? With extended warranty? Then price is OK.

Did the first service today @ 885 km. Only engine oil & cost is 310 & along with that I bought the seat cover, it looks cheap the total bill was Rs 686/-. I did not receive the invoice yet so did not know the itemized bill

Also I enquired.. I mean double checked (as some members here raised questions regarding the oil change interval), he told it is every 6000 km. They had put fully synthetic oil. Also for the Unicorn 160cc it is 6000 km. Only the old unicorn it is for every 3000 km.

Also regarding drive chain slackness, in general it is required to tighten every 5000 km (Some exception can be there ofcoarse). They had only cleaned & lubricated in the first service.

According to my ASC the oil used is the normal Honda mineral oil. I don't think the synthetic oil is so cheap.

If the slack is excessive, then get it tightened. When it becomes too loose or too tight, it can have an effect on the gear shifts and it makes a lot of sound (of course for the sound, it has to be dirty too).

A small complain & may be it is with me only in particular "Is any one out there experiencing any pain in the palm/wrist?"

Also there's a small [aprroximately of size of this AtTheRate symbol "@" ] paint scratch on tank -- Any tips?

Other than this am really enjoying the bike, & too be true its quite a punishment to wait for 1k kms not going over 4krevs/50kmph.

The 2nd top-up fuel for Rs 500/- (7.9 liters) have yielded me ~ 58.2 km/litre (The fuel gauge just started blinking so I am assuming it to run another 30-40km before reserve) as compared to 62 km/litre for the first 500 Rs.
Kept the rpm always below 4000 rpm during 1st 500 km & after 500 km I have been riding between 4500-5000 rpm (that may be the reason for the drop in mileage)

                            Speed range & Gear:
                            0 - 15 kmph @ 1st
                            10 - 30 @ 2nd
                            24 - 40 @ 3rd
                            34 - 52 @ 4th
                            Above 40 @ 5th
All gear up shift @ 4000- 4500 rpm.

Haven't gone for long drive / highway till now. Early morning (cold) driving is smooth, where as afternoon (hot) driving is harsh (ie., when the engine is very hot) but no drop in power or pick up in respective rpm.

thanks a lot brother... the issue i was facing seems to have disappeared ... i also had escalated the issue through mail to honda customer care.. i got a calll the very next day morning... ( send mail at night)..and they took the bike and seems to cleared the issue for good... it was something to do with the tyres.. that was all the person who consulted me explained... though i wanted to know more... the person who was consulting wasnt the mechanic.. he just takes down the complaints... so that was all he could say...
i am very happy with the acknowledgement and the courtesy with which the service center people treated me...

Guys,, I installed the Hornet seat cover as mentioned in the HOnda website under accessories, the seat feels much comfy and looks premium now... Guys interested should really have a look.. I got this seat cover only when i specifically mentioned i need the seat cover mentioned in Honda website... They were giving initially giving me some other seat cover which didnt look to be one from authorised Honda...
I also installed chrome Handle bar ends and black grip cover with HONDA written over it in red fonts .. It feels a lot more premium and macho too... i also added white rim stickers on my red hornet, all as shown in the accessories page of Hornet in the HOnda website.. It all together feels like a segment above now...

As someone mentioned here... The bike does seem to be mistaken for benelli from some angles....

                            will share some pics soon...

I think the run in period neednt be that long... i mean 50 kmph till 1k??? i did a lot more... i did it at the most.. 4.5k till 500 kms... and always rode it in varying rpms and never lugged the engine ... and did the first service at 700ish kms.. after service.. i do go up to 60 or 70 max... ( thats coz that is my speed limit... nothing to do with the bike ) .. and i still avoid outright acceleration and sudden brakes...

nope, i dont feel in the palm or wrist.. the clutch is really light....

paint scratch on the tank? where? i didnt notice it happening in normal course of riding.... :O

                              Hello friends
Planning to buy a bike this march yet to decide between gixxer and hornet.
                              Few questions:
1.which one will be a better bike for long run ?
2.which one has a superior built quality ?
3.is there any cold start problems with the hornet?
4.the price for the standard variant is 94k in Noida whereas the cbs variant costs 95k in Delhi. So is there any way i can buy bike from Delhi without much complication and voiding the warranty ?

                                1. First of all, you are asking this in the Hornet thread. I guess most of us could be a little biased towards Hornet. Even then, if you ask me, I had also gone through the same dilemma. Both are good bikes. Each having its pros and cons. Gixxer has better handling, more suited for shorter riders, has a better inital punch (which might make you feel it is faster than hornet. which it isn't, try watching drag race by motorbeam, on outright acceleration, hornet wins). It has cons too, the rear brakes, I found, wasn't good enough. But a rear disc version of gixxer is coming soon, I think that will be good when it comes out. Poor pillion comfort, ground clearance issue, hard gear shifts are its problems. Hornet on the other hand has better gc, smooth as butter honda engine and gear shifts, superb brakes, better (proper) pillion seat, better suited for taller guys, a higher capacity engine etc... and regarding mileage, I read in gixxer thread that they get somewhere around 35 t0 40. But from hornet, I get do really get 52 after run in ( I am very sane rider). And regarding the cons of hornet, its swichgear and console is not as advanced as gixxer. It lacks an engine kill switch (a top priority for many, as I understand). It is a tad more expensive, and the exhaust note is better on gixxer. That is as detailed as I can get without being biased.

Nevertheless, trust me, you can't go wrong with any of them. Both has their character which you would love. I have gone through the same phase. I chose hornet. And I love my bike so much. I was trying so hard to recollect its cons. Any bike, once you start loving it, you end up forgetting its little niggles and will learn to live with it.
                                2. Cant comment on that, usually honda is known for their quality. The refinement, I felt was better on hornet.
                                3. Idk bro, as of now, the bike is doing just fine. It starts in cold mornings without any troubles. I use kick start at morning 4am(usual time for me on weekdays, and I live in manipal, the climate is cold here in the early mornings).
                                4. I think, to buy a bike from some other state, you have to show some proof that you are living in that state. Not much idea about it.
