Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
did some 700-ish kilometers and gave it for the service. I did first 500 kilometers in some 10 days. then waited and rode less for the next 10-15 days and gave it to service because I thought waiting for 1000 kms for the first service would be an overkill. Hence counted on days to get closer to a month and rode less.Originally posted by @raghav View Post

Check for the alignment of the Fork (front shocker), “T” section and handle bar.Originally posted by Siddarth M Vishwanath View PostThanks everyone for your valuable suggestions, I will take one more test ride this Sunday and take decision.
I actually rode Gixxer for a week, it was great fun riding it, it exactly does what you want with more confidence. Whenever you hop on it, yiu like to push it more. But on the other side it had already completed 2 services yet the gear and clutch were very hard. It's my cousin's bike he told that now the bike us dragging him towards left ( he rides economically) and pillion seat, it really is uncomfortable even for short distance ( I don't want to be forever alone
Hence Hornet )

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
The suspension set-up does have effect on the brakes performance (apart from road condition or tyre grip .. etc ..). It's all linked in ride & handling of any vehicle be it 2 wheeler or 4 wheeler. May be the softer suspension is good when you ride slower, but at higher speeds it reduces the handling ability. I agree with you the original setting on the Hornet is stiffer. As pointed out by another person better check in another service centre.Originally posted by hisham2k9 View PostAfter complaining it thrice, the service center people although seemed very caring, couldn't rectify the problem. They seem to have made the suspension softer(without my request whatsoever, is there a way I can check it myself?). The ride is now a lot less bumpier. I don't feel the potholes anymore.... hornet goes through it without transferring anything to the rider at all. Is the softer suspension(assuming it is..) affecting the breaking ability?

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Hello friends, I have completed 880 km. Planning to give it for the first service. Till now the ride has been very good. The 2nd top-up fuel for Rs 500/- (7.9 liters) have yielded me ~ 58.2 km/litre (The fuel gauge just started blinking so I am assuming it to run another 30-40km before reserve) as compared to 62 km/litre for the first 500 Rs.
Kept the rpm always below 4000 rpm during 1st 500 km & after 500 km I have been riding between 4500-5000 rpm (that may be the reason for the drop in mileage)
Speed range & Gear:
0 - 15 kmph @ 1st
10 - 30 @ 2nd
24 - 40 @ 3rd
34 - 52 @ 4th
Above 40 @ 5th
All gear up shift @ 4000- 4500 rpm.
Haven't gone for long drive / highway till now. Early morning (cold) driving is smooth, where as afternoon (hot) driving is harsh (ie., when the engine is very hot) but no drop in power or pick up in respective rpm.

Yeah, I should try that. For now, they asked me to wait for 2 days.... I am waiting to see what they are gonna do tomorrow.
Guys, one doubt, do they change the brake pads on first service? The brakes feels spongy, I read somewhere about CBR that spongy brakes are because of poor quality brake pads. Can anyone who hasn't done their first service check at the backside of that first service slip in the user manual?
Attached the instructions as requested.

You are getting excellent mileage .is it in city with traffic or open roads.also what is your weight. I am 110kg[emoji30] and in stop go traffic (malakpet to punjagutta @ 9 am and 4 PM ) I am getting 45-48 kmpl.Originally posted by wdrwilfred View PostHello friends, I have completed 880 km. A Query regarding chain slack.
I got my chain tightened by a local mechanic and slack is 25 mm when the bike is in center stand , but after sitting on bike there is no chain slack is it alright or should I increase chain slack.Last edited by Motomonster; 02-24-2016, 10:28 PM.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
It is in Bangalore city traffic. Morning I leave by 6:00 to office, so not that much traffic & ride 75% of the time @ 5th gear itself, but while leaving office heavy traffic time in the evening I guess not even 25% of the time I am in 5th gear. Sometime even 3-4 km constant ride @ 1st gear only. I am 72 kgOriginally posted by Motomonster View PostYou are getting excellent mileage .is it in city with traffic or open roads.also what is your weight. . But weight does not impact any significant mileage. May be in your city traffic is even more ...
Hope they do not mess up anything at the service centre (in the name of carburettor adjustment or something like that ...)
I felt one more thing... during the cold start at early in the morning, I had to kick start atleast 4-6 time to get the engine to life. Some times it gets started but after 20-30seconds or so it switches off. When the engine starts @ cold, the rpm is flickering below 1000 rpm & doesn't gain any quicker. The moment I pull the choke (when I feel the engine is struggling to keep up) thinking to raise the rpm, it switches off in a milli second. Any suggestions ?? Am I doing something wrong or is it normal in the early morning start ? How is your & others' experience ?

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
You should depress the clutch, ignition off and then 4 to 5 kicks. After that change ignition to on and pull the choke then kick start it will most probably start in 1st kick.I too faced the same problem but after using the correct technique it starts in 1 attempt.Originally posted by wdrwilfred View PostIt is in Bangalore city traffic. Sorry I forgot to mention this.Originally posted by Motomonster View PostCan you please tell chain slack in your bike.does the bottom of chain touch swingarm when moved up with hand . my chain has 1 cm difference from swingarm when moved up at the center of Chain.
I had checked yesterday, pushing the chain upwards. It went up by ~ 30-35 mm I guess. As per manual 25-35 mm is acceptable. How much does it slack in yours ?
But I do not hear any noise other than engine because of traffic & full face helmet.
Hi, I just checked now. I doesn't seem to touch the swing arm, but the gap seems to be less than 1 cm. I think if the gap is 1 cm it should be fine I guess.
Also it should not be tight as well.Last edited by wdrwilfred; 02-24-2016, 11:11 PM.

Don't know much about highway manners but the bike can easily cruise at 80 kmph at 6k rpm.this is the max speed I have done till now.Originally posted by ronitgandhi24 View Postguys any one here can put his thoughts on highway manners of hornet...a friend of mine is interested in hornet as a daily commuter with short weekend rides ....apologies as I know owners are still under running in period but still if can share their experience. ..

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Just booked Orange Hornet CBS, it looked most exciting when compared all of them side by side. Black and Blue actually doesn't highlight all of the muscles especially headlight and sometimes reminds me of CB Trigger
Will get delivery in 2 hours
They took 97,106/- Is it good or being overcharged ?
