Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
After complaining it thrice, the service center people although seemed very caring, couldn't rectify the problem. They seem to have made the suspension softer(without my request whatsoever, is there a way I can check it myself?). The ride is now a lot less bumpier. I don't feel the potholes anymore.... hornet goes through it without transferring anything to the rider at all. Is the softer suspension(assuming it is..) affecting the breaking ability?Originally posted by wdrwilfred View Post

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Well, for one, they may have polished the disc. On my Unicorn 160 they polished the disc, as a result i couldn't use the front brakes much. What made it worse is that the polish (maybe oil as wdrwilfred said) spread on the brake pad as well. All i could do was clean the disc daily with dry cloth before riding. It went back to normal after riding around 50-100km.Originally posted by hisham2k9 View PostGuys please do reply, its quite urgent as I have to complain again.
Honda's service can be horrible. I just get the oil changed by them in front of my eyes (only for free service) and the rest i leave it to my trusty mechanic. Also, the 6000km drain interval is too much. Heck, i change the Honda oil to oil of my choice after only 1000km, after which the Honda oil seems to turn watery.
I don't think the suspension has anything to do with the braking.Originally posted by hisham2k9 View PostIs the softer suspension(assuming it is..) affecting the breaking ability?Last edited by Shashank K R; 02-23-2016, 11:55 PM.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
No idea about your problem bro ,but do you feel a drastic difference in suspension. I feel each and every bump on road and will adjust the suspension if it makes the road undulations less noticeable.Originally posted by hisham2k9 View PostAfter complaining it thrice, the service center people although seemed very caring, couldn't rectify the problem. Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Yes I do. I would say the hornet is now comparable to older unicorns. ... and I am not exaggerating. ..just rode hostelmate's older unicorn and hornet back to back. Just as much as I feel difference in ride feel (is it called ride quality?), I can feel the difference in brakes too... in partial emergency situations, though being the cbs variant, I end up using both the brakes which wasnt the case before. Previously the rear used to lift up on the slightest of application of front brakes. :/
Totally confused what has happened qith the brakes though. Though even the ASS people acknowledge the problem. They are uable to rectify. They just asked me to wait to for two days and see

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
You are 5'6 and you feel the seat height is high !!! I am 5'4 what about me ? Do you think Hornet is not a good choice for me ?Originally posted by kausumi20 View PostBought a red hornet today .. and rode 30 KMS back home initial impression performance is very good but gearbox is a bit harsh specially downshifting from 3rd gear it gets stuck sometime. Also i am 5.6 and i find seat hight is very high for me
Please suggest guys...
I took a test drive..which was very short and didn't have much traffic, I was not concerned about about height then but waiting for your response as you guys have donedone more kms

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
It depends on your leg height(I don't the exact word).you should push the showroom go give a test ride in traffic and follow the method said by divya sharan sir.instead of tiptoeing place one foot on ground.Originally posted by Siddarth M Vishwanath View PostYou are 5'6 and you feel the seat height is high !!! Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
you can take hornet if u like refinement , also if you want your bike for long run ( you can c relic like unicorns & cbz's are roaming and the sound came from their heart (engine) is still saying that im just 18Originally posted by kumars View Postcool, thanks
If I take hornet, do you think I should opt for teflon and honda shield or anything ?
, also my personal feeling is hornet's handling is slightly better than fz ( bcoz i own fzs-v2 for a month). and for tvs i heard the 180abs is good but i never rode tvs so honestly i dont have any idea. The ultimate decision is yours.

hey siddarth - i/o both tip toeing , i wud advise you to start riding with 1 leg down on traffic it may be right or left which ever is more comfortable with you, its mainly hornet's ground clearance which is 162mm if im not wrong, you can opt for gixxer too but wait for a bit if youre going for gixxer they are bringing fi & rear disc.Originally posted by Siddarth M Vishwanath View PostYou are 5'6 and you feel the seat height is high !!! Its all about how you use it. i like to keep my both feet flat on ground,if you are 5.4 u can tiptoe the bike easilyOriginally posted by Siddarth M Vishwanath View PostYou are 5'6 and you feel the seat height is high !!! I am 5'4 what about me ? Do you think Hornet is not a good choice for me ?

The brakes actually feel spongy, its kinda effective enough when i press it hard if I compare it with other bikes... but the hornet has superb brakes na... I can't feel that anymore... :/Originally posted by Shashank K R View PostWell, for one, they may have polished the disc. Yeah, I should try that. For now, they asked me to wait for 2 days.... I am waiting to see what they are gonna do tomorrow.Originally posted by Harideep View PostCheck with other Service Centre
Guys, one doubt, do they change the brake pads on first service? The brakes feels spongy, I read somewhere about CBR that spongy brakes are because of poor quality brake pads. Can anyone who hasn't done their first service check at the backside of that first service slip in the user manual?

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Thanks for the information, friend. So the screeching from the chain has stopped.. thats good, was worried. My own[local] mechanic had warned me of chain issues of honda's so was worried if had taken wrong decision. Time will tellOriginally posted by hisham2k9 View PostDone with first service from Matrix Honda, udupi.
The bike has become a lot more free revving and a lot more smoother. That "sound" about which I was saying before has disappeared.
One thing I have noticed after service is that the brakes have become a lot less powerful. When I complained after a service, they took the bike again and did something and brought it back again. When I asked what was the issue they said, they had diesal washed the brakes and forgot to wash it with petrol and now they have done it and should feel normal now... I took the bike again for a ride. Though the brakes seemed a little better, it isnt as before the service. Is this normal?
Other than that thanks for shedding light on brakes issue, will pay attention to not go through same carelessness of service center.
By the way when did you get your first service 500 or 1k kms?Last edited by Raghvendra; 02-24-2016, 04:02 PM.

Hornet is really a smile. Dont listen to anyone & just drive it, feel it.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Thanks everyone for your valuable suggestions, I will take one more test ride this Sunday and take decision.
I actually rode Gixxer for a week, it was great fun riding it, it exactly does what you want with more confidence. Whenever you hop on it, yiu like to push it more. But on the other side it had already completed 2 services yet the gear and clutch were very hard. It's my cousin's bike he told that now the bike us dragging him towards left ( he rides economically) and pillion seat, it really is uncomfortable even for short distance ( I don't want to be forever alone
Hence Hornet )
