      • Hornet FE test III

This thursday, i changed my engine oil from to honda throttle full synthetic oil. Engine smoothness difference is marginal as per me.

My last tankful completed today and i did a F.E. test after it, following are the details.

Reserve Came at : 1440 km
        Fuel Used : 1.4 Ltr (Rs 100)
Reserver came at : 1526 km

        Total distance : 86 km
        Fuel Economy : 61.43 kmpl

This ride was both in high way and city condition, most part being on highway, i was expecting around 45 kmpl. This was first long ride after the service and i revved very much, checked top speed and i could go up to 112 kmph. In most part i did around 80-90 kmph in the 60 km on highway.

        Other points:
        1. The suspension does not feels hard at earlier, the 60 or 70 kms i did where almost like without break.
        2. The front tyre pressure seems to be increasing with usage, i checked it before ride and it was around 35 psi, the recommended being 25 psi, need to check it in every 15 days i think
        3. I feel the bike is very smooth upto 75 kmph, after that the vibration starts in though manageable
        4. Power is not much enough for long triple digit speeds for long touring etc

Sad part is I don't know how may meters/kms it ran before delivery since the odd meter don't work without battery fitted unlike my earlier Unicorn.
            slow down.

It should not be more than 30 kms

That's true but you should be happy of owning a new vehicle first.

Why to be sad? Did you get any sign that the vehicle was used?

We have not heard any such story in the thread so far.

How to apply chain lubricant?? ie. After wash or any other method??
                  What are its advantages, disadvantages??

Clean your chain every 500kms with kerosene, then lube the chain using chain spray or you can also use SAE90 grade gear oil. If you give your bike for pressure wash and if they clean the chain with petrol, lube the chain after wash. No need to lube after normal wash. Chain lubes:
                    Rolon chain spray.(₹120)
                    Tvs chain spray
                    Motul c2 chain lube.

The yellowish part is the reflection of wall paint...

I am happy about owning this bike.. Was Just curious how much it did before the handover to me. That it :-).. And I feel doing 30kms before delivery is too much. Just my view.

On mine idle rpm is 1100 while cold and after 20 or 30mins ride the meter toggles between 1200 and 1300.
                              slow down.
