It used to start after short stops and in the evening after being parked for 8 hours. But since a few days, it is not working at all. The starter motor make some sounds, the instrument console turns off momentarily. If I try to use ES again, there is a delay after pressing the switch and starter motor working. Multiple attempts will reset the clock; but horn, indicators, position lamps are all working fine. Kick starter works mostly fine even in the morning. After this total failure of ES, surprisingly it worked one afternoon after being parked for 36+ hours (Wow!!), it worked, but a sluggish start. Sometimes kick start also started giving me leg workouts. So I decided to go to a service centre.Surprise! the mechanic started the vehicle multiple times using the ES. Nothing seems wrong. No delays, no hiccups. As I showed him the reset clock, he asked me to wait 30 min. Later when he started, it started but with a delay. He took the bike, checked the battery and said battery is dying. As there is no stock available, he asked me to check with him later or buy a battery from any shop. Exide FEXO-ETZ5 VRLA Battery (12V, 4Ah) is the stock Honda one. Amaron Pro Rider Beta (AP-BTZ5L) battery will cost Rs. 1200 with exchange of old battery when I enquired in a nearby shop. What’s your recommendation? Does anyone here went through the same situation and/or changed the battery? Thanks in advance.
Yup, I had the exact same issues with my 5.5 year old R15 V2.
It started with self taking a bit longer to start the engine, which was not really an issue.
Few months later the console would go blank every time the bike was started, and as soon as the engine turned on, the console would light back up and all was good.
I replaced the battery during Diwali brake last year, cause I did not wanted to risk any issues with cold starts.
The V2 being a fuel injected one, does not come with a kick starter.
All went back to normal after replacing the battery.

The ideal battery life is 4 years, after that how long it will stretch, that is your luck. Mine lasted 5.5 years which is very good. It might have done a few more months but I did not risk it. Replace the battery as soon as possible and it bike will be back to normal.
    Cheers
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Do you have the habit of keeping your hand (front) and leg (rear) pressed while riding? If not you pads are rubbing against the rotors. Get them checked.

Definitely the battery is at the end of it's life. A battery in general goes for 3 odd years at an average. Just change the battery. Your issue is that of a dead battery that is not keeping charge when you need it to. Go got the Exide. I have nothing but good experience with them. Still worth all the money.

I live in Lingampalli area. So far I have not visited any local mechanic for big issue.
There are many off-ASC mechanics. Find some mechanics who work on CBR 250.

Also, at ASC, talk to some manager about your issue. They will assign the job senior guy. I did the same at Vashnoi Honda, Kondpur when cone set gone bad. The junior guy tries to clear off without resolving the issue.

The issue might be break getting jammed. Most of time service center guys won't touch the Disc break system. Good mechanic in ASC or outside would fix for you.

Only the Hornet is remaining to be updated to bs6.
Unicorn is also now updated with a bs6 160cc engine.

Hornet and xBlade will probably use the same mill with a different state of tune as the Unicorn 160cc.

Looking at the new features added to the scooter line. I thought the motorcycles would receive some good upgrades.. but now after unicorn's release, I don't know.
Well I think there is no point in releasing bs6 Hornet and X blade without proper updates. Hopefully they don't disappoint!

I too felt the same seeing the BS6 Unicorn. But this new 160 cc is deliberately made to look like the outgoing 150, they are afraid that even addition of a gear position indicator will shoo those ~25,000 uncles that buy this bike every month. It will be a mistake if they simply launch the Hornet and Xblade with Fi and with no other changes; atleast a gear position indicator should be provided as even the SP125 gets one. Just imagine a Shine user proudly mentioning the GPI and ACG on his bike, all that ego inflated by that 140/70 punctures instantly.

Problem solved. Battery was the culprit. Bought the Amaron Pro Rider Beta (AP-BTZ5L) battery, cost was Rs. 1200 with exchange of old battery. There was an Amaron dealer near my place and the service guy also said it is better to buy Amaron battery from outside. As the stock Exide is not available, I went for this. The outgoing battery was about 3 years old. I think the AHO is affecting the battery life. Anyway, the starting problem is no more. Everything seems to be fine.

Time for the second chain & sprocket change. It’s nearing 28000 kms and the chain adjustment is over.

Yeah.. the always on headlight could be the issue.
Did you got 4Ah battery, similar to stock one? Can you inquire that higher capacity battery (5ah or 6ah) fit in the compartment?

I think it is the same 4 Ah battery, just Amaron make. The model AP-BTZ5L specifications show that it is a 4 Ah battery. Many shopping sites show it as 5 Ah, but I don't see any difference or it doesn't seem to be reliable info. The battery is a direct fit in the compartment. No space to move around. Different capacity batteries have different dimensions (I think so, seeing the numbers in websites) to avoid false fitments. I don't have the old battery to get the battery dimensions. So let me check it directly and confirm the same.

Yesterday, I gifted myself a new Yamaha FZ25 Monster Energy/Moto GP Edition. But I have not decided to sell my Hornet Striking Green Special Edition owing to its good average/fuel consumption and other positive attributes.
