In highway, 85kmph or below is the ideal range to get decent/best mileage, anything beyond 85kmph worsens mileage...

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
If pushed hard, can be reached around 125kmph...
but even at such speeds,
And my personal best of 137kmph (though it's on a slight downwards inclined road[emoji12]) the bike is so stable without a bit vibration ,that's what called as engine refinement , the HONDA's refinement...Originally posted by gowthamh View PostHighway is the home for hornet...
Considering its underpowered character in low RPMs,
Also cruising at around 90 to 95kmph is the sweet spot of hornet...

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Completed 50000 KM
Booked this bike on November 2015 and got delivered by February 2016
I use this mainly for office commute.
Liked
No history of breakdown
Highly dependable
Goes berserk after 6K RPM, always eager for dash even after 4 years
No vibrations even at 105 KMPH (Slight vibration on footpeg)
No major wear n tear
Still the best looking in this segment
Not liked
Short lower gears (but can get used to it)
Stiff suspension
Hard seat
Changes made to Bike
Changed to Osram silverstar Headlight(Stock bulb is an insult)
Changed Zapper tyre to MRF Massetter. Little expensive but great performance and sexy look.
Everything else is stock
How I Maintain
1) Wait patiently for engine break. Strictly not more than 50 KMPH till first 1000 KMs with occasional bursts. Once engine break happens, we are free to rev the heart out.
2) Strictly stock oil for 3 services. then change to semi-synthetic(Motul the best) for two service periods and then you are free to use FS oil but strictly 10W 40.
3) Religiously follow service interval.
4) Keep chains clean and lubricated. Check tautness then and there. performance drops to half if chain is dry and clunky.
5) Dont squeeze at lower end. this bike is not designed that way. Show your mettle at higher gears.
Overall Experience - Extremely satisfied and dropped the idea of selling this gem (my lust for jawa can wait
)

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Thanks.
I called service center.
If there is 900 in the part number, its for old hornets.
So its suitable.Originally posted by ashwanth.r View PostCompare the new handlebar with the old after removing the old. The only thing you need to see - there are some holes near the throttle and LHS hand grip for proper alignment of the switchgear. These have to match.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
2 weeks back SVC cleaned spark plug and adjusted clutch free play and chain slack, now bike taking 5-10 kick to start but working fine on self, before that it used to start at 1 st kick it self , what might be the problem ?
also i observed i am able to shift gear with out engaging clutch while bike is off and while running also , local mechanic told me its common after doing few thousand KM, kind of general wear and tear is that true ? and kick start issue he said it seems bcz of bad clutch plates what you think ?
but kick problem happening only after SVC visit.
local mechanic told me new original clutch plates cost rs 400+ any one know hornet original clutch plates cost not clutch assemble that cost something 2500 like that just to make use he don't use duplicate or compatible plates of different vehicle,
also thinking to do engine flush with 3m engine flush and will use https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B00...G9ONZD7S&psc=1
motul 7100 10W-40 oil any suggestion, is it safe to use this oil ? i have done 19300KM till nowLast edited by raaz321; 01-02-2020, 12:24 AM.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Mine is at 30k and from other people's experience clutchless shift-up only advisable after 6k RPM. Once in while I could do in 5K RPM unintentionally.Originally posted by raaz321 View Postalso i observed i am able to shift gear with out engaging clutch while bike is off and while running also , local mechanic told me its common after doing few thousand KM, kind of general wear and tear is that true ? and kick start issue he said it seems bcz of bad clutch plates what you think ?
In sub 5K either shift doesn't happen or it's very stiff/with loud thud (BIG no).
I feel engine flush is too early for 20K. Motul 7100 is fine oil to use it.also thinking to do engine flush with 3m engine flush and will use https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B00...G9ONZD7S&psc=1

called service center people to esquire about hornet clutch plates ,they said for hornet company not selling clutch plates separately but need to buy complete assembly that cost 1400 around ,so i think the outside mechanic will only unicorn clutch plates that cost around 400+Last edited by raaz321; 01-02-2020, 02:08 PM.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
visited 2 out side mechanics they both took the bike for test ride and said clutch plates problem, one guy quoted 450+ for clutch plates and second mechanic said
need to open the clutch cover to identify clutch plate type as hornet using 2 different version of clutch plates
- i am surprised to hear that and suspecting his knowledge does anyone have idea about this ?
service center people said for hornet clutch plates won't come separately need to buy complete clutch assembly ,went to ram koti Hyderabad for checking original clutch plates cost and they quoted 750+ for hornet clutch plates.
