Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Its because of loose connection in battery terminal,(most probably negative terminal). I faced it once.Originally posted by Parag Sharma View PostHi guys !! A strange thing is happening with my bike. When i switch on the ignition key, there is no flow of current in my bike. My meter console remains off, so does all the lights. I decided to fix the problem and removed the head of the bike by myself. I found that the wire coming from the ignition assembly is a little loose, so, I fixed it. But the same problem persists. As soon as I use the kickstarter the current comes back and the meter starts working but a kit-kit sound comes for 2-3 seconds from the console and then sound goes off. While the bike is running, everything remains normal but as soon as I put the ignition key off and on again, no current flows. I am running on stock battery setup( which is 3 years old ).
What might be the problem,
1.) Battery or,
2.) Ignition assembly or,
3.) Meter console
Please help me on this. Thanks

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Hi everyone,
My beloved Hornet completed 24,000 km and 2.5 years. Had the sixth service (Paid) from Honda. As usual, oil change and chain tightening + lube. The final bill was about Rs. 1050/- (washing, service charges included). No problems this time other than the pass light switch not working at times. They recommended carburetor cleaning but did not found it billed (Forgot to do it, most probably).
Within this period, I have changed the tires as both of them worn-out on right side. I had shown it to Honda service and they said faulty alignment was the reason, and hopefully rectified it. As the treads began to reveal, I decided to change the tires immediately. In September 2019 and at about 20500 km, I abandoned the stock tires. Got MRF Masseter-X (140/70-17-66H) for the rear and Zapper FX1 (100/80-17-52P) for the front [I meant to get front tire from Masseter itself, but unfortunately not available]. The tires are good and no irregular wear until now.
In between, two times the bike failed to start (after being parked for some 8 hours) in the usual single press of start button (Before this, experienced such behavior only in the first few days of ownership). The bike anyway started after few attempts. (Battery was good, fuel was sufficient and no problems during the ride later). This happened once more, after few days. Checked the spark plug and found nothing wrong (the plug and air filter was changed in the fifth service). The air inlet was unhindered. Contemplating what the reason would be.
Front fork oil change, and Front brake pad replacement were two things I planned to do, but not yet done as neither me nor the service personnel found any reason for the same. Hopefully, they will be good till the next service. (Front vibrates a little bit on sharp braking). Is there anything that must be changed in 30,000 km or 3 year?
My humble update. Thanks.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
I prefer changing the front fork oil every 10k to 12k. Ensures smoothness and makes sure that the front stays stable. Pretty sure that a lot others here do the same as well. Vibration is due to the instability. Does your bike dive hard under braking? If so, get it changed immediately.Originally posted by unik View PostHi everyone,

Hi, Thanks for the input.Originally posted by Bismaya View PostI prefer changing the front fork oil every 10k to 12k. Ensures smoothness and makes sure that the front stays stable. I will try to get the fork oil changed soon, as in these 24k km it is not changed even once, AFAIK. Regarding vibrations, sometimes I feel it on hard braking. Other than that it is not there in normal ride. Under normal braking everything is smooth. No vibrations or dive. The only problem is, the front end vibrates (but nothing frightening) just before stopping on a sudden/hard braking. Anyway, I think, I will get the front end checked and fork oil changed.
I am planning to get this done from some nearby garage as Honda service is getting bad every time I visit them.

Same here.Originally posted by Suddy View PostMy seat cover's different dude. Yours looks nice. No big difference between the actual seat and the seat cover in my case. By the time I reach college, I'll feel like pouring ice water below my abdomen
And the worst part is, I'm facing this issue even after adding some cushion/sponge to the front part of the seat.
You need to have balls of steel to ride this bike.
I have gixxer also, but never faced this problem on it.Last edited by FreeSpiritedBiker; 12-13-2019, 11:31 AM.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
May the honda retains the same engine from existing hornet 160r with changes in compliance with the BS6. But the improvement in low end performance as well installing a better chain sprocket along with a engine kill switch should be the welcoming change...Originally posted by yash_s View Post

Soon™. That's Honda's excuse. They are just too lazy at this point to change the whole wiring to offer a kill switch. The sprocket on 2018-19 Hornet seems to be better than the outgoing models.Originally posted by gowthamh View PostInstalling a better chain sprocket along with a engine kill switch should be the welcoming change...[My Motorcycles]

So wat do u think abt the low end performance, is any possibility that honda can work on that??? Am not too technically strong about engine working mechanism. Wat i would like to know is, what on honda can work to improve low end grunt? gear ratios/bore-stroke/installing radial tyres/ wat else?? without redesigning the entire engine.Originally posted by Bismaya View PostSoon[emoji769]. Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
I agree, the seat is not wide to support the butt, but is narrow and the whole pressure comes to "perineum" (area behind the balls) which is uncomfortable for long rides.
I modified my seat and I can sit back with comfort but the handle bar reach has become far.
I'm planning to rotate the handle bar slightly towards the rider side so the reach is comfortable. Will the service centre do it or I have to go to some other place, if so can anyone mention any place in Bangalore for bike modifications??

Please post the photos.
And no, service center guys won't help you with the modifications.
We have to find an expert mechanic outside.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Honda only works on its scooters and 125cc bikes. Its disappointing. Their portfolio of premium bikes is rarely updated and they just have been sluggishly adhering to the indian compliance. The motogp version was a beauty they just discontinued it..if only they had kept it updated like the r15..I really wanted to buy that.

Yeah i too did the same , the ride quality is not suitable for indian roads. It's very stiff and uncomfortable !Originally posted by FreeSpiritedBiker View PostSame here.
