Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
I think most of the under 250cc bikes are with stiffer suspension, may comes with adjustable settings. just curious to know, which bike has better suspension according to u (stock setting)Originally posted by #bpk View PostBiggest negative of Hornet is stiff suspension, it is terrible for most of the indian roads [emoji28]

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
FZ 25 has best suspension. I rode gixxer 250 too, it is softer than Hornet but stiffer than FZ ! All Honda's with monoshock are stiffer than other bikes in the same category. FZ 25 has the best balance of ride quality and handling [emoji7] . I've adjusted mine to softest setting but still it creates back ache, i fill 30 psi in rear and 25 at the front.Originally posted by gowthamh View PostI think most of the under 250cc bikes are with stiffer suspension, may comes with adjustable settings. just curious to know, which bike has better suspension according to u (stock setting)

Poor fuel maybe? Is 40 your consistent figure? How often do you change your air filter? In Bangy traffic, I've seen people change it at every 6000-7000kms. Also, get your carb jets cleaned. I clean mine every 10k kms and change the filter with that time. To be through, check your Carb tuning as well.Originally posted by gowthamh View PostAm getting a mileage of nearly 40kmpl, which I feel is low. My daily commute is typical bangalore congested traffic route of around 14km that includes a lott gear shifts, applying brakes.
Before I used to get atleast 42kmpl in the same route, now it is getting lowered., So what could be the reason?

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
I would recommend getting the head cleaned at 30k or around that figure. I got mine (Unicorn) and a friend's Hornet cleaned at the same time. Both were purchased a few months apart but clocked 30k around the same time. The poor quality fuel and adulteration here from outlets had let to a lot of carbon deposits on the valves and tappets.Originally posted by gowthamh View PostThanks for the suggestions [emoji4][My Motorcycles]

Is head cleaning done at the asc or u have get it done outside. Does fuel system cleaners really work ?Originally posted by Bismaya View PostI would recommend getting the head cleaned at 30k or around that figure. Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
I get it done from outside. My mech opens the head and sends it to the lathe guy for valve polishing and head cleaning. After the cleanup he puts back the necessary gaskets and shuts the head. Fuel System cleaners as in the petrol additives? I haven't seen much of difference from it. They have a lot of stuff in them like anti-corrosion elements and all. I've had some improvements in my FE due to them though. So, can't say that they are ineffective. No use of having them while you have a choked head. Clean the head and then start using.Originally posted by #bpk View PostIs head cleaning done at the asc or u have get it done outside. Does fuel system cleaners really work ?[My Motorcycles]

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Am planning to give my hornet for service tomorrow.. i has to change my chain sprocket. I don't want to go with hornet's chain, but with rolon. So what's ur suggestion on rolon guys. Is it ok to go with it. Also it shouldn't affect the stock performance of hornet.

Motul 7100Originally posted by gowthamh View PostGuys also suggest me on the better engine oil to go for...
Either shell or motul, else it's better to settle with Honda engine oil?
Chain Lube suggestion:
OKS 9341 Chain Lub Spray
https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B07...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I found it better than Motul and 3M. It don't spill even if I spray more than needed.------------------

Also can we go for 10w 40?
Does these have any negative impact on engine life? Also will it have any improvement on performance without taking toll on mileage.
Honda service guys not recommending for other brand oils...
So my head is full of doubts, Requesting fellow hornet riders to help me get a clear idea on it.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Honda Engine Oil is the worst I've ever used. Bike used to heat up too much on it for me. After all the warranty was over, I switched to Castrol Power1 20w50 for a while and then Motul 20w50 (still running on this). And no, not much mileage difference. Unicorn gives 52-55kmpl still and my room mate's Hornet gives 50ish or closer on highway rides (that's the only purpose it's used for).Originally posted by gowthamh View PostThanks for suggestion. Before you tell me about using a 10w oil, 10 oils aren't available here, except 10w30 which is poor in heat management. The figures represent the temperature range basically. The temp here never goes below 20'C except on cold winter nights when it's at max 12 degrees. So, 20w oil isn't an issue to use here. Also, it isn't that much viscous or dense for the engine either. Works just fine. 10w30 and 10w40 is recommended in ideal conditions and guess what, that isn't possible everywhere.
If you're concerned about engine life, you need not. Mineral oil works just fine for me. I drain every 1500-1700kms when the commute is primarily in city and 2000-2200kms when the ride is solely highway run. That's it.[My Motorcycles]
