I have bought a sp edition hornet cbs yesterday. The engine response is good but I am facing two issues:

      1) The gearbox is hard to operate, take a lot of force to shift and going to neutral takes two-three tries (upsift).

      2) Though it is CBS, it has hardly any brake in the rear one (front brake is very good). Feels like a rear drum brake is much better. To feel the brake at all have to push a lot harder yet it is not enough.

Please suggest what to do - should it get fixed after first service or need to change it.

        2) I don't know why you are facing this problem, I will suggest you to wait till first service.

maybe dust and brake pad particles are sandwiched between the disc and the brake pads. open the pads, clean and check. Should bring back the previous bite back. Used to happen on my first model P220F.

Even I am facing the same issue like you.
          Hi bro ,
I am from Chennai and completely agree with you. I bought a Hornet CBS recently and facing the same issue like yours.
How much kms you have done on your bike? Have you done with the first service?
Even when I checked with Service guy, He says nothing wrong with the bike sound and its normal . They never listen to our genuine concerns. Hope it get resolved after first service where they will Change the engine oil . Fingers crossed !
I have so far done 275kms only in 3 weeks. Should I drop my bike for service to avoid more damage to the engine ?
I don' t know why I am not having the permission to reply to the query in Public mode and also unable to post my queries here. Can you please post this query on behalf of me.
          Thanks!
          Cheers,

              Hi,
What kind of noise? A video will do no harm. If you are talking about tik tik sound, that's pretty normal. Also sometimes our mindset doesn't let us believe even when everything is normal.

                    Hi Akhil,

Those all are common issues with Hornet. Though it sounds bad, the solution is "you should habituate to those common problems".

I already fought with Honda long back with the problems you mentioned along with some other issues. Two people from Honda Technical team inspected my Hornet and they told that those issues were common in 150cc++ bikes.

But, with my experience during troubleshooting the main problem with Hornet is, blindly using old Unicorn engine parts with updated engine. After 6 months of Hornet release Honda came to know unicorn carburetor is not suitable with Hornet and they are now using Hornet specific carburetor. We don't know how many such types of issues exists.

Don't know man a brand like honda ideally should be spending on R & D before launching a bike . Now days looks like they spend on advertising and buying fake reviews that say bike is best .

Even new buyers are facing issues. Does that mean the newly designed carbs are also malfunctioning?
Can you please help us find out if our bikes are using new Honet carbs or old Uni 160 Carbs?
                        It would be helpful.

I see this issue more on new bikes so looks like they have changed something or maybe the batch it self is defective. I need to coordinate with som1 in Hyderabad who owns Hornet and then I can fight for this with the Honda dealer and resolve this . So do let me know if anyone from Hyderabad can help me out .

Hi, to me engine sound seems normal, don't know what will happen after first service. Clocked only 70 km. Do you have any idea about the rear disc issue for CBS variant. It has much less bite than a drum brake and have to push hard. Will it change? Is there anything I can do about it now?

For now I am keeping the bike under 5000 rpm in all gears. Is it required to regularly go to 5th gear during break in?

My idle rpm in the morning is 900-1000 rpm, once the engine is hot it is 1050-1150 rpm. Is this okay? After starting te engine with kick first time in the morning, the engine stops couple of times and have to kickstart it again. After few times it's ok. Is this normal?

My dealer said that owner's manual will be provided after registration. That's why have no idea.

                              Please reply.

I have myself taken a drum coz when I tried the cbs I din feel it was a great option. For a 160cc bike a good front disc and drum is enough specially when you have a soft compound mrf tyre . As per the manual u should not use full throttle . Hope you don't face similar issue with engine roughness and heating in coming days . Do keep us posted post 300km if you find anything unusual.

My bike is currently smooth as butter when cold and as it warms up after 5-7km sounds rough after 15 this sound increase and don't get the joy of riding.
