I think I can help you out regarding this kick start issue.( Frankly I don't know it is right or wrong method, but it really works for me)

From purchasing bike till second service I started my bike in 1st kick (without choke)in cold morning too.( 9 out of 10 times it's gets started in one kick,i repeat only one kick).I have gone for my hometown for 10 days, after coming back the bike is started is 1st kick,no problem at all. I kept wondering why peoples are facing issue with kick-start.
    Then my time comes😂😂😂

After second service, asc mechanic messed up with my idle rpm(which was previously at 1000rpm) and kick-start issue started after 2nd service.Bike is started facing kick-start issue, I have to give a choke and try 5_6 kicks then it get starts. I noticed that low rpm ideal and kept it to 1000rpm again, still 5-6 days I am facing that same problem,e which was never ever happened before 2nd service. Then every morning,i play with that rpm screw, and change it to little here and there, but I make sure that meter will show 1000rpm everyday, after 5-6 days of playing with that rpm screw, I think I have got good combination and bike is again starting in 1st kick it self (without choke) as it previously. So problem is now resolved,my bike start in one kick.
I will suggest you to keep ideal rpm 1000 and slightly change screw to either side try 4-5 days in morning,u will get proper combination.

Ps- I write this long post, so that people will understand that I know how to kick start the bike, else someone will come and tell "ideal method to kick start your bike"😂😂😂( as previous posts suggested that)

mine is same case as of you....after second service I was unable to start even after 5-6 kicks , tried w/wo choke. I was facing this issue for a week, but I was unaware about idle rpm. some kids playing in parking messed up with idle rpm screw....bike used to stall after 3-4 seconds. So i adjusted the rpm to 1000 again. Surprisingly the kick start issue gone, i start it in one kick now as of before second service, thanks to those kids😉

I'm just implying that I might mess my bike doing this. Just thought it'd be better to see someone do it first. Heck, I don't even know where the fuel screw is on my bike.
You came by bike to Chennai all the way from Kolkata? Patience is indeed a virtue, I guess. I'm happy for you that you were able to enjoy divinity considering the rise in atheism today....

I've seen kids climb onto bikes, feel the throttle, pull the clutch/brake and fidget with the switch gears. This is the first time I'm hearing of children messing with idling screw. Future iit-ians I guess 🤓😂

Not exactly. Here, you can fill this up and build a suitable story:
                I - theatre - today - bike - parked - 3hrs - 7pm to 10pm - after movie - 5 kickstarts - 3 5sec electric starts - some throttle - miracle finally happened.

Look at digital rpm meter 1 bar=250rpm
Kept 4 bars ie 1000 rpm in ideal(when engine is cold)if you kept less than that you will face starting issues with bike. When engine is hot it should rise between 1400-1600 rpm.

Please see above audio record of Hornet idle. As everyone said about loose tappets, I am also worried now..
I have done 5000 kms in 10 months.

I have listened to it just now.I don't know it is normal or not.But I've never heard this sound of bike when it is idle.(Or it is problem of your recorder or my speaker😂&#128514

Yes give it a try.I have tried 4-5 days in morning to set that rpm in between 1000-1250 (kept 4 bars)and from 6th day bike is again at its business, starting in 1st kick itself.

Please provide the information - Either here and there should be - clockwise and counterclockwise turns - clockwise will reduce the RPM and counterclockwise will raise the RPM.

Yes it was loooooooooooooong journey from kolkata to tirumala . I did not passed through HYD otherwise the trip would be short . But because for hotel reservation in CH I had to pass from there . It took me 49 hrs to reach there - speed was 110-120 kmph - it could have been 36 hrs but I had to take 2 hrs rest in between the tour .

It seems low idle race to me.
Is there any metallic sound or just jerking race?
If it is only jerking on idle just increase a bit.

                              How old is your bike?
In 1st few month I also hated the kick start and gave up, using it, because it took 2-3 kicks and some times more.
After second service/ 6 months later, just for change I tried using it once in while. I am able to start it in just a kick.

After every service, bike is feels good at service day but rough for a week for sure. But after a week, it smooth and all good.

I am no expert but seems it just the bike time to settle it down.

I went to nearby service center for adjusting suspension. They didn't have the wrench for it . Asked me come later as it was available at their main branch of showroom.
I asked about curb fuel screw. He told me it is inside and not visible from outside.
If anyone able to find it. Please let us know.

Carb fuel screw can be accessed from the right side.. that's what the mechanic told me .. I don't have my bike with me now it's with ASC . I can check it once I get it back maybe in couple of days. Hondas have a odd placement he told for Shine you need to completely remove the carb to access it . Hornet can be done but not easy.
