Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
65K is a best price for a Drum brake model, which has run 3K kms. However, I always feel Disc on the rear has better braking capability. Please see if you can stretch and go for a Dual disc edition.Originally posted by hemnath View PostGuys, i am planning to buy second hand hornet 160R. Is it a good price to close the deal.
I am coming from a RTR 160, having driven 5years with it. It never disappointed me. What can i expect better from Hornet 160R. Thanks Need your suggestions.

Honda is known for smooth vibration free bikes. If you are experiencing vibration after 65Kmph, then you should get it tested. Vibration may be because of various reasons; even wrongly tightened chain could also make you feel the vibration. Some issue in engine, gear and clutch assembly can also lead the vibration. Please have this checked..Originally posted by sam_900 View PostMaking lot of vibrations beyond 65 kmph.Any solution for this?

Re: CB Hornet 160 R
Depends on where the vibrations are coming from, and their intensity. What's the state of your bike right now? Generally speaking, it could be the engine oil. But you should get the bike checked regardless since it's not very Honda-like for a bike to start shivering at half of the cap speed.Originally posted by sam_900 View PostMaking lot of vibrations beyond 65 kmph.Any solution for this?

I think My Wings Honda has the most incompetent service. Maybe you should try another SVC for this check up. Or better yet, a well known mechanic. If you don't know one, ping me, I know a guy in your vicinity.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
3 weeks since the Hornet delivery; 660Kms on the odometer; I'm enjoying the daily commute of about 25kms each way to work. Whether its early morning or the peak hour traffic in the evening, ride has been joyful. I was worried about the bulkiness of the bike to squeeze thru the slow moving traffic, when I decided to buy this bike. However, I find it much easier to ride than my commute by Unicorn (has been using it for more than 11 years).
Just waiting to get over 1K Kms service so that I can push beyond 40-45KMPH speed. I have lubricated the chain twice in last two weeks as I had to ride in Rainy and dusty condition. Also, I could see the chain slack, that needs attention. It is pretty normal to chain to slack prematurely when it is new (Unicorn/Fiero Experience).
Also, experiencing the left wrist pain, for which I'm trying to change my riding position. This is probably because of switching from my old Unicorn riding position to more of sporty style.

One suggestion, since you're riding daily in rain, check for extended mudguard for front tyre.
Stock mudguard doesn't prevent all mud from getting on engine and your legs.
It's better than installing full wide plastic sheet on leg guard. Since that plastic sheet blocks air flow totally...

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Hello all,
My Hornets cylinder kit and cylinder head has been replaced due to some knocking sound at 7100 km and after that time I am getting an unusual whinning noise when I drive the bike in gear but when I press the clutch and give the throttle ,that noise is not there.
Now I have ridden 1000 km after kit and head change and riding the bike below 55 kph and mineral oil,
Still the problem there...
Please help!!Last edited by Ravii; 07-17-2017, 12:38 PM.

Totally agree with you. I've been searching for a extender for the front fender. Unable to find one. However thinking to install a customs sheet that extends as engine cover as well.Originally posted by vaRider View PostGreat to know that! Enjoy!

Please do let me know if you know any place where I can find the mudguard extender in Bangalore or online.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Thinking loud here. Do you mean entire engine kit (engine head, piston etc) has been replaced. Or just the engine head and retaining the same old piston. Or worst case they should use new piston rings if pistons are good.Originally posted by Ravii View PostHello all,

There could be mismatch if they just changed the engine head / block with the existing parts like piston, valve, rapper etc.
Please ask them to replace entire engine unit except he gear box. Or else it's like grafting wrong parts.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Hi all,
I went for a ride yesterday. Travelled around 250km totally.
I found a strange issue with the bike.
I noticed the engine stops suddenly for every 15 - 20 kms and the bike does not start again.
Both the self and kick does not work.
I have to open the fuel tank cap once and then start it. Then the bike starts without any trouble.
My bike stopped around 10 times in the whole journey and I felt annoyed.
Once it stopped suddenly at 70kmph. I had to slowly shift to the left most lane and apply the break.
1. After traveling for 15 kms continuously, I observed the engine drags.
2. I got the same feel that fuel is empty.
3. If I keep the accelerator constant, speed decreases as if engine is not there and stops.
4. If I close the clutch or decrease the acceleration, engine stops immediately.
5. I can see RPM going down to 0 in the display.
6. If I start (either kick or self) it does not help.
7. Once I tried waiting for ~5min and tried to kick, Still it wont help.
8. If I open the fuel tank cap, I can feel the vapor hissing out.
9. The moment I close the cap and start, it starts as if nothing has happened.
10. After travelling for another 15km same problem repeats.
Is there any one who knows the solution for this?
I googled a lot and could not find any solution. Some say it is a fuel vent hole problem.
Some body please let me know the solution for this before I hit the service center guys.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
I strongly believe that the air supply would have been blocked. Please check if you have kept anything below the seat. Also, please check air filter which must have been clogged.
Second check will be the fuel line. Or some dirt stuck in carburettor or the tank that is obstructing the flow. Also, there is a vapour trap mechanism in the fuel tank that may be airtight. And no air goes into the tank hence fuel doesn't come out of the tank due to vacuum effect.

I've unicorn 160 i also gone through the same problem. The culprit is blocked air pipe. You can see a hole under fuel cap from there fuel tank can breathe. Either something is clogged in that pipe or the pipe has a sharp bend some where.
In my case a clamp under the he side stand pressing the pipe. ASC guy loosen the clamp and blown air under fuel cap hole. The problem has been solved.
Try this once.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Entire cylinder kit with piston and cylinder head with complete components from brand new hornet from showroom was changed to my bike by A team from Honda....Originally posted by DigantRai View PostThinking loud here. Do I need to change the connecting rod, crank shaft etc...
I was fighting for the problem for 7 months hitting my head in various 10+ ASCs visiting each one atleast 7 times and then at last got the following changed..
Now whenever I visit any of the ASC they see me in a strange way like I am mad with the bike...
They know only one thing , to say ''no problem is there in your bike ,ride it freely without any tension ,we are here...''
What to do now????Last edited by Ravii; 07-17-2017, 08:28 PM.
