First 120 with mineral or after 280 with mineral?

Follow the same breakin pattern like you did when the bike was new. Report after 1000 kms

Also why did you get teh cylinder block replaced? Did it seize or something?

First 280 with synthetic and last 120 with mineral oil brother...

Cylinder kit was changed by ASC due to some abnormal sound in engine but issue was not solved then a team came from Honda, they changed the cylinder head...

Just gave my bike for first service in Bangalore-Bellandur service center. Rode around 550 km.

After specifically asking for water wash, he mentioned they do not have water wash. Also, he said he will do only cloth cleaning.
Please let me know if water wash is included in service.
Do, I need to demand him for that or should I get it done outside.

And one more, He charged 700 rupees for engine oil change. I remember some one from this forum mentioned it is just 350 rupees.
After asking about this, he said 350 for normal oil and 700 for synthetic oil. He also stressed Hornet needs synthetic oil.
        Is this ok.

OK just continue the break-in with mineral oil till 1000kms and see if that helps.

I observe a strange hissing noise when I open petrol tank cap.
Looks like large amount of evaporated petrol coming out with hiss sound.

Not sure if this is ok or not.
Please let me know if any others notice this

Are you at ASC?? Before giving servicing for checklist what they are going to do.
              1. Service includes bike cleaning and chain cleaning (with diesel). If they want to cloth cleaning ask them to remove dirt from inside of mudguard.
              2. Yes, they charge for oil change. Better stick with mineral oil till free servicing for making engine brushed off properly.

If I remember, Mineral oil costs 310/- and FS Throttle around 700.

Also they use engine oil additive with 120rs or something... And joint lubrication worth 75rs

Never heard of these so far from ASC recommending, even here with all xbhp members.
Yes, they exists but, oil additive and why joint lubrication ?

                    Hello guys

After reading forum conversation i got to know that Hornet have many issues with his engine (unusual sound), chain & clutch.
I want to buy 160cc bike and shortlisted it but now I'm afraid after reading forum conversation.
Please tell me your opinion, should i go for it or look for another bike in this segment?
I also need a good pillion seal for my mother (sits one-sided). Please recommend me according to that.

Hornet is a good allrounder except the drive chain for me. I have not found any serious problem other than the chain as the chain is exposed and not of O-ring type.

Thanks for the suggestions, But I was not there in the service center.
I took my bike yesterday evening. They did not do much changes. They just adjusted the loose chain, changed rpm knob.
I noticed idling rpm is a little more than 1000 now.

Over all the service center sucks.
No water wash. They did not even clean with cloth. After complaining to management, they said water wash will be available from next week and I can get it done then.
Some how I felt there is some problem in petrol vent. I asked to check petrol vent pipe before giving bike which they did not even consider. Later I personally forced the mechanic to check for it. He checked some areas near the engine and found some water in the carburetor. After asking for the way to detect such things, he boosted himself saying "you guys will never come to know about these things only we will know"

Please go ahead with this bike. I have also purchased this after upgrading from Passion Xpro which I rode for 27,000 kms. And the Hornet is superior and reliable in all sense and low on maintenance too.
Having completed a little more than an year and 11,000 kms. The bike has been trouble free.

I have replaced the stock engine mineral oil around every 2,500 kms. Along with the usual chain tightening and cleaning once in a while. And it has been giving a healthy fuel efficiency of 54 - 60 kpl depending on riding conditions. There is no issues whatsoever. I've also travelled long distances without any issues or back and body pain.

As for any issues, have a good local mechanic around. You can even buy original consumables and spare parts from the service center. I have been doing the same after the third service and save a lot of time.

I intend to retain this bike till it lasts. For its got good road manners and stability, amazing braking abilities in panic situations and is easy on the pocket for overall maintenance.

Be gentle with the bike in the run in period, maintain the correct tyre pressure and lube the chain as it is very important. I had minor problems when I would ignore the same like the rear wheel wheel not spinning freely. Rusting was something that was prevalent initially but if you wash and keep the bike clean in regular intervals it shouldn't spread. My rusting issue has since stopped.

Incase some minor issue crops up. All fellow Hornet owners are there to help! Treat it well and I am sure you will have a trouble free ownership and biking experience.

                            • Need Bright headlights for Handa Hornet 160R

I bought a Honda hornet 160r recently and the headlights are not at all bright. Its hard to see the road at night, especially with the oncoming traffic lights on me. Please suggest some bright bulbs for the bike.
                              Some additional questions:
1)Do I have to get the bulbs with the same specifications as my stock bulbs?
2)Will changing the bulbs void the warranty of the bike?
3)Do I need a mechanic or can I do it by myself?
4)Do I need to do some additional wiring for it?

                              Thanks.

For pillion, Hornet would be top choice with rider's wide seat.

That's really bad experience. You should complain to head of service center and Honda service.
Do you get feedback call after service in 7 days?
I have visited two service centers, yes they are ignorant in taking care but never experienced such thing. They always take feedback whether I have any issue with bike.
With all my servicing whenever I had issue they have listen and resolved it.
Once there was problem with oil leaking they fixed it. It got busted again in 15 days, when I told it, they fixed without any payment.
