      2018 Hornet looks exciting.
      • New graphics and one new color introduced.
      • LED Headlamps
      • Improved switchgear - lifted from Unicorn 150, no engine kill, gets a hazard switch
      • Bolts holding the handlebar covered with a chrome cover (similar to Unicorn 150) - must be Allen bolts; top fork nuts - looks like they have changed the size; and center steering race nut gets a black rubber cover like Yamaha.
      • New speedo console - heard it is now blue color background, not sure. Would be good if they provide the gear position indicator from X-Blade 160. Buttons *look* sturdier.
      • Near chain adjuster, a red/green sticker can be seen - O-ring chain finally .
      • And the most important - ABS !
      • Thanks Honda for listening. The 160 engine will stay.

That's some good upgrade with great headlamp + abs + nice graphics.
Looks like Hornet is going to stay for a while.

Hornet will stay. Unicorn 160 might be axed.

Honda 2018 is definitely over FZ2.0. Looks and features are just killer. Both bikes are reliable.
However, first and mandatory criteria to consider a bike, which bike is more comfortable to drive.
                ......

Better and sturdy switches, that's what I had complain about Hornet. Still no kill switch but that's Ok.
For commuter-occasional tourer Hornet 160R 2018 should on top list.

First time I filled power petrol and the bike response is really good. The RPM vs speed ratio has gone up by 3 Km/h.

RPM vs speed ratio? That doesn't change merely by changing oil/brand of petrol.

May be placebo effect. But throttle response is definitely better. It's been 2 days on power.
                    Anyone else tried power petrol.

Could be the earlier fill up point was adulterating the fuel in small quantities.

                      • Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences

I have 2017 CB Hornet 160r CBS edition. I have driven around 7000 kms and i am about to give the bike for 3rd free service this Saturday. From what I have read in the forum a lot of people have got improved smoothness and performance after using a synthetic, I am thinking to do the same. So I will request the ASC to put Honda throttle full synthetic engine oil during the service, but taking into account the past experiences i had with the service centre, I don't think they will do that. So I am thinking to change the oil after the 3rd service, on my own. I am a bit confused about which oil to put in my engine, so I have shortlisted the following:

                        a. Motul 5100 10w30 (Semi-synthetic)
                        b. Motul 7100 10w40 (Full synthetic)
                        c. Motul 300v 5w30 (Full synthetic)

Since I am shifting to synthetic for the first time, I don't have any idea about how these perform. I wanted a full synthetic 10w30 oil, but it seems that Motul 7100 is not available on Amazon in that rating hence I have to either settle with synthetic 10w40 or Semi-synthetic 10w30 ( I am a bit concerned about the engine performance since 10w40 is thicker than the manufacturer recommended 10w30). I saw on Amazon that some people have used 7100 10w40 and have got good results. Motul 300v 5w30 fits the viscosity rating, rather it is designed to handle cold starts even at lower temperatures than a 10w oil, which is one of the reason for higher cost of this oil.

                        Has anyone used 5100 10w30, 7100 10w40 and 300v 5w30 ?

Is there a lot of difference in performance and smoothness in the engine among these oils?

I ride 10 kms daily and got out on the weekends for short trips (150-200 kms total) on the highway.

Please suggest me which one should I use based on the riding conditions mentioned above.

You can ask ASC to pour Honda Throttle in front of you while delivery. Just mention on job sheet. They will create bill after it.
Aforementioned mentioned in few page back. As per contract ASC can void warrantee if other oil is used than Honda, if found.
Its seems nuisance but this is what it is.

Go for Motul 7100 or Honda Throttle. Honda Throttle works fine. I changed after 4k and oil was in good condition to go 2k more for sure.

                            i have had used both 300V 10W40/ 5w30. (6000 KMs / 11000 KMS)
10w 40 is really smooth its thick and works like charm. smoothness at its best.
5w30 is thin bt helps in winter ( at 2 degree celsius, one kick bike starts, but the "tick tick" sound is more audible)
                            mileage is same 42-45 KMPL

bt id prefer Honda throttle. its best in all scenarios. and gives mote mileage

To fasten tank bag or any small backpack you can use a rope to around, the space between tank and handle. Don't worry it will not block handle movement.

                              See the yellow rope

To tie back side of bag, back side a adjustable fastener or bungee cord under belly of tank and clamp both sides of bag.

                              I hope that's clears out.
