Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
The chain is expected to be the same 132 link one but with O-rings. In the meantime, one can get Gixxers chain and Hornet's sprockets. Getting the sprockets alone from SVC is the problem.Originally posted by HariVox View PostWill the new hornets comes with same or new chain? Planning to change those pocket and chain of my hornet. There is another bike launched Honda xBlade based on Hornet. It's highlighted feature is low maintenance chain. it is Hero Impulse kind of bike.Originally posted by HariVox View PostWill the new hornets comes with same or new chain? Look for videos. If it launching soon, I think that would be best for Hornet.------------------

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
I got an problem in hornet, it loosing its power.
When i open throttle when in 3rd or 4th gear to sudden accererate bike it start loosing its power amd behaves like its empty on tank and after a while when i deaccelerate it behaves normal like nothing happened. What is the possible reason ? Ad also full throttle open never reaches to top speed, but when i go lenearly with speed it feels easy to go on top speed.
I am thinking to go 2nd service, now 2.7k on odo.

The tank, some dirt in fuel line or it could be issue with the carburettor. It is good to get this checked with ASC. Also don’t hesitate to replace the carburettor under warranty if it’s a problematic one.

I will surely buy the engine guard.Originally posted by sachin170 View PostGood part is we can change the look of our existing hornet. Nearly all parts are easily replaceble, from tank panels to headlight consol.
I hope they would keep base parts same.
Can they fix abs in the existing model?

Guys motul chain clean and lube 400 ml can , is going for 495 rs for both on amazon India which usually goes for 900 rs , check out , did not find deals thread on xbhp , so posting on certain threads where I see people regularly maintain their chain .Last edited by wingrider007; 02-12-2018, 09:39 AM.

I feel investing on Motul Chain cleaner and lube is a over investment when the chain sprocket set itself costs you about 1.5K. Alternatively you can go with WD40 spray for cleaning and chain. And it also acts as a mild lubricant. On top of this you can use regular 2T engine oil you get in petrol bunks.Originally posted by wingrider007 View PostGuys motul chain clean and lube 400 ml can each , is going for 495 rs on amazon India which usually goes for 900 rs , check out , did not find deals thread on xbhp , so posting on certain threads where I see people regularly maintain their chain .

Gixxer chain on Hornet sprocket is not advisable. Gixxers chain is oring type and is heavier. It wears out the Hornet's sprocket. Hmm...yes. Chain cleaner is nothing but compressed kerosene. Alternatively you can purchase diesel from petrol bunks and use it to clean chain. Old engine oil can be used as chain lube.Originally posted by DigantRai View PostI feel investing on Motul Chain cleaner and lube is a over investment when the chain sprocket set itself costs you about 1.5K. This is the infamous power lag in hornets. Comes at over 55-6000 rpm.Originally posted by sachin170 View PostI got an problem in hornet, it loosing its power.

Have the carb needle changed to that of Uni Dazzler or the carb replaced under warranty.
The SVCs are well aware of it...atleast in Bangalore

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
They are of the same pitch. Did you replace the sprockets while you fitted Gixxer's chain. Accelerated wear can come from out-of-alignment sprockets or slightly overtight chain too. Who supplies factory kit for Honda - is it DID?Originally posted by ZZR1 View PostGixxer's chain on Hornet

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Agreed. They are of the same pitch. I got new chain sprocket kits from both Honda and suzuki service centres. Suzuki's chain is an oring type and is much heavier and puts pressure on the stock Honda sprocket.Originally posted by ashwanth.r View PostThey are of the same pitch. Chain tightness was optimal and there were no other issues. Similar issue with my friend.
This was confirmed by my mechanic too !!

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Yes ! That's one of the reasons why Honda put a normal chain, perhaps they were worried about a slight drop in mileage due to slightly higher resistance/heaviness of o-ring chain. Let's see what they bring in the 2018 Hornet. If the front sprocket costs the same, it would be the same material w.r.t. strength. The good thing is Rolon and TI Cycles will roll out their own kits for 2018 Hornet if it comes with O-ring chain.Originally posted by ZZR1 View PostSuzuki's chain is an oring type and is much heavier and puts pressure on the stock Honda sprocket.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Since you are switching for first time. start with Motul 5100 10w30 (Semi-synthetic). Be patient, Run it for some 3000 KM. Then move to Motul 7100 10w40 (Full synthetic). I am using Shell Ultra FS oil. Results are phenominal.Originally posted by raktimroy121 View PostI have 2017 CB Hornet 160r CBS edition. I have driven around 7000 kms and i am about to give the bike for 3rd free service this Saturday. From what I have read in the forum a lot of people have got improved smoothness and performance after using a synthetic, I am thinking to do the same. So I will request the ASC to put Honda throttle full synthetic engine oil during the service, but taking into account the past experiences i had with the service centre, I don't think they will do that. So I am thinking to change the oil after the 3rd service, on my own. I am a bit confused about which oil to put in my engine, so I have shortlisted the following:
a. Motul 5100 10w30 (Semi-synthetic)
b. Motul 7100 10w40 (Full synthetic)
c. Motul 300v 5w30 (Full synthetic)
Since I am shifting to synthetic for the first time, I don't have any idea about how these perform. I wanted a full synthetic 10w30 oil, but it seems that Motul 7100 is not available on Amazon in that rating hence I have to either settle with synthetic 10w40 or Semi-synthetic 10w30 ( I am a bit concerned about the engine performance since 10w40 is thicker than the manufacturer recommended 10w30). I saw on Amazon that some people have used 7100 10w40 and have got good results. Motul 300v 5w30 fits the viscosity rating, rather it is designed to handle cold starts even at lower temperatures than a 10w oil, which is one of the reason for higher cost of this oil.
Has anyone used 5100 10w30, 7100 10w40 and 300v 5w30 ?
Is there a lot of difference in performance and smoothness in the engine among these oils?
I ride 10 kms daily and got out on the weekends for short trips (150-200 kms total) on the highway.
Please suggest me which one should I use based on the riding conditions mentioned above.
