Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Should not be much different than opening the clutch cover of Unicorn 150. Buy one clutch cover gasket and centrifugal/rotor filter gasket (this is shared between various Hondas/Hero Hondas, I think) if you plan to do it. Clutch cover gasket is some rubberized (?) type like the one used in Dream Yuga - should not tear easily like paper.Originally posted by adityagaur51 View PostHas anyone opened up the clutch side assembly to clean oil strainer screen and centrifugal oil filter....???
At what interval does one need to do so as manual mentions it at every 6000 kms...!!!
1. Strainer to be cleaned at first service (~1000 kms or less)
2. Both Strainer and rotor/centrifugal filter to be cleaned every 12,000 kms post 1st service.
How many kms on odo?

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Hey guys just cleaned my oil strainer screen....
Also replaced the gasket....
First and foremost i drained the oil before any operation...
The clutch side gasket cost about ₹116..
I then proceeded to open the clutch case...
The amount of dirty oil...
Removed the strainer screen with help of eyebrow plucker....
There are also quite a bit of metal shavings... My odo reading is at 8678 kms...
Applied the new gasket with the help of anabond gasket sealant with thin layer on both surfaces of cover as well as case... The gasket seemed a good quality one ... Maybe cardboard or tin... Don't know but definitely not thin paper type gasket...
Reattached the cover and poured new oil...
The oil is yamalube 10w40 costing ₹405...
The old Honda FS oil after draining.... turned dark and mucky after 3k kms...Last edited by adityagaur51; 03-04-2018, 12:07 AM.

My opinion is that we should install this on the crash guard as it is more irritating to opposite person. Or it should be tilted down to avoid blinding oncoming traffic.Originally posted by Dharmik Kothari View PostI have installed on Handle bar with clamp.

Thank you for sharing, when one Xbhp'ian does it, builds confidence for others.Originally posted by adityagaur51 View PostHey guys just cleaned my oil strainer screen. Also replaced the gasket. First and foremost i drained the oil before any operation.
Nice to see Honda investing more money into quality gaskets. A paper one is cheap but a slight headache to scrape and remove. Next time you have to replace it as you have applied Anabond - otherwise can be re-used if no tear.Originally posted by adityagaur51 View PostThe clutch side gasket cost about ₹116. Now that you have done this at ~9000 kms; clean the strainer and rotor/centrifugal filter next time - Atleast wait another 12-15k kms before next cleaning.Originally posted by adityagaur51 View PostRemoved the strainer screen with help of eyebrow plucker....There are also quite a bit of metal shavings... Anabond sealant is not required but if one is going to apply, minimum possible to be used so that it doesn't block the oil feed holes (one just above clutch is very tiny).Originally posted by adityagaur51 View PostApplied the new gasket with the help of anabond gasket sealant with thin layer on both surfaces of cover as well as case. It is VFM oil, go ahead and use it for a minimum 3k.Originally posted by adityagaur51 View PostThe oil is yamalube 10w40 costing ₹405.

But for highway rides and dark interior location its a must.
It gives confidence while driving at high speed.. At stock light max speed is 40/50 kmph.
It is very important for Someone who is travelling at night and touring. Highly recommended.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
I have done almost 26000 KMs now. In my rear tyre, there are 3 punctures. Even though am filling it up, there is a loss of almost 4 psi everyday. Right now am filling air on 3 days once basis.
Planning to change the tyres, may be by this month end.
Any sugesstions? I read about MRF masseter some replies back.. Anyone actually using it with Hornet? Any reviews or any other suggesstions are welcomed.
And also how much is the tyre if you have bought it.
Cheers!!!Last edited by mac4rfree; 03-06-2018, 01:17 PM.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
it may be due to problem in the spark plugOriginally posted by sachin170 View PostI got an problem in hornet, it loosing its power.
When i open throttle when in 3rd or 4th gear to sudden accererate bike it start loosing its power amd behaves like its empty on tank and after a while when i deaccelerate it behaves normal like nothing happened. What is the possible reason ? Ad also full throttle open never reaches to top speed, but when i go lenearly with speed it feels easy to go on top speed.
I am thinking to go 2nd service, now 2.7k on odo.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
I too had this problem but in my case actually cleaning cloth stored below seat cover went into airfilter tube a bit and obstracting the airflow caused this problem but when i removed it everything is ok .Originally posted by ahparvez View Postit may be due to problem in the spark plug

No...! separate sticker is not sold by honda. You have to change the whole RH or LH part.Originally posted by kkarthik View PostDid any one tried to change the sticker for Green bike?

Hi,
I am seeing some problem with gear shift in my bike. Sometimes when I shift from 4th to 5th gear, I observe internal gear is not actually shifting. After sometime, some kind of jerk happens in gear box then bike gets actual 5th gear acceleration. Do anyone know why it is happening like this?
