Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
i mean to say that when i travel at 50 to 60 KMPH or more i maintain a distance of 10 meters + from the vehicle in front of me.. while in daily traffic conditions, and in less than 40kmph .. normal braking works just FINE.Originally posted by anoopkumar0 View Post

Update: Recently I went to a short ride with Hyderabad Riders group (My bike was tiniest
others had KTM, Triumpth event Ducati Hypermotard 939 cc ) and bike performed amazingly.
I was able to cruise at 100 like butter smooth with zero vibration. Touched and kept on going at 115. I wish there was more power. I tried to record but damn, SJCAM was not on recording mode
.
Also, met YouTuber Vikas Ramchalla.
This was the bike freaking hot.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Wow Half million kilometers on bike. Its remarkable. I can't imagine keeping a bike for 3.5Lakh kilometers. Appreciate all your patience in maintaining, including Engine rework. Some where I have a phobia that the bike may stall after it crosses 1Lakh kilometers, no matter how best we maintain. Please do share the maintenance schedule and other key tips to maintain the bike.Originally posted by Remesh Augustine View Post2 Years and 27,000 km with HORNET 160
As a biker my first vehicle was my bro's Bajaj 4S, we rode it for more than 3.5 Lakhs km .... engine rebuild done for 2 times... but mileage was around 65 Km/pl. sold for upgrading to 150cc. After 10 yrs we have an opportunity to grab Pulsar 150 , first batch vehicle . Another Pulsar 150 DTSI in 2004. First Pulsar sold in 2007. Pulsar 150 DTSI sold in 2015 after 12 yrs service and 1,30,000 Km.. Condition of vehicle was good, except some CD ignition coil related starting problem. Finally it was decided to end the relationship with Bajaj products and move on to Honda.
On 23rd Dec 2015 I became first owner of Black Honda Hornet 160R CBS in Kerala.... vehicle delivered from EVM Honda Kochi at a launching ceremony. Routine services done at Honda ASC (EVM Kakkanad Kochi) at 1000 Km & 6000 KM. Two new "Roots Vibro mini Horns " added with" Roots relay ". Vibro Mini -MRP Rs. 924 + 2 Led pilot lamp (Rs. 100 for pair ).Bought relay @ Rs 150/-. Labour, wire & clips cost another Rs.250/-.
Added a new sari guard step into my Hornet, purchased from Yamaha dealer in PALA ,Kottayam Dist. Kerala.... cost Rs.450/-. 12,000 km service also done without any issue.
18,000 km service done at EVM Honda ,Kakkanad , Kochi. Air filter (Rs.134), Spark Plug (Rs.139); Engine Oil (Rs.294) changed. Annual Maintenance Contract for 1 year (Rs735) purchased and included in this service as 1 st service under AMC. Total cost for Service, spares and AMC only Rs.1376.
Front tyre changed at 18,000 km ( MRF stock tyre) and back tyre changed to CEAT Zoom XL 140-70/70 at 20,000 km. Chain and sprocket changed at 20,000 km @ Rs.1410/- including labour and GST.
During the whole 2 year I faced only one problem with my bike… indicator relay. New relay costs around Rs.100/-.
At 26,000 Km front brake (Combo) pad changed @ Rs.990/-
On 23.12.2017 my Hornet has completed 27,000 km and 2 years.
I am getting average millage of 50km/ Ltr on every ride. My average speed is around 60km/hr and roads were both city and rural. Even a single puncture did not disturb during the 27,000 km. But in comparison my Pulsar gave me many headaches in the first 27,000 kms. Battery and electrical related issues, clutch cable replacement in every 15,000 km, accelerator cable replacement @ every 25,000 km, cone set adjustment & replacement , chain and sprocket issues, back suspension issues etc . were common .But no such issues with Hornet.
My longest ride was through high range region in Idukki (Kerala)….250 km very comfortable. Daily commuting of 100 km from my home to office is also comfortable.

Good to hear both you and bike are safe. And happy to hear that the parts are of good quality. I often hear Honda uses substandard plastic and fiber parts. However, looking at Indian buyers mindset of value for money bike, Honda has to balance the price with the best quality parts that they can manage to have decent margin. or else they have to shut the shop.Originally posted by sachin170 View PostI fell from bike yesterday while climbing to the dam, friend loose his balance over the bike.
The point is, quality of parts(fibre parts and other) given by honda are really very good quality. Just had some scratches and right rare footrest was got off a little, even my dad didn't found them.
Now i decided, i will never let him ride my hornet again.
(Btw first service done, smoother gear and engine than before but nit that much. Mechanic just did engine oil change, cleaned air filter amd spark plug, and lube some part not much.)

While going down hill, you should always be in a gear. Let engine braking allow vehicle to slow down. This helps in two ways, to have control over the bike and save the brake pads. If you try to control the vehicle speed by brake, you may end of burning the brake pad before you reach the bottom of the hill.. lol.Originally posted by raaz321 View PostGuys this question is not related to hornet but more on driving skills , i am learner ,using hornet. i read how clutch gear engine and all parts working internally. and i am driving based on that. so when i am declining from height i am completely disengaging engine by pressing clutch completely and stop giving acceleration so bike moving freely if i need any control then i am applying breaks slowly ,so it will save fuel. but my friend suggested my to don't do that he told me to be in gear and asked me decrease acceleration as engine will control wheel, what i know from reading is bike engine designed to go forward only so when wheel is going in high speed and engine is on low rpm bike will apply reverse force on engine i think it's not good. so please suggest me which way is correct ?
suppose i am going in 60 something and vehicle in front of me slowed down drastically or not suddenly and again accelerating because of some traffic or pothole so does i need to apply breaks or just decrease acceleration with low gear ? what i does is i disengage engine and apply breaaks but through decreasing acceleration in gear still push the vehicle so i completely disengage engine then applying breaks , so suggest me guys
While going uphill, try to shift to right gear before even you take a curve so that engine doesn't tall. Also, vehicle will have the right traction.

I agree with you. Wish Hornet had little more power. I recently did a 1200kms round trip and I was able to beat two RE folks who were cruising at 100+ and I was able to be in front of them for almost 50 kms stretch (and they were biting my dust :d) until I reached my destination. Somewhere I felt RE folks were trying to brake early and I was easily braking at the last moment. Some where I felt RE engine would seize any moment. But Hornet was super cool even I was travelling between 90 to 105kmph. May be because I switched to Honda throttle engine oil during second service.Originally posted by anoopkumar0 View PostUpdate: Recently I went to a short ride with Hyderabad Riders group (My bike was tiniest

Few of folks here have done headlamp AC to DC via mechanic.Originally posted by Parag Sharma View PostHow to convert headlamp from ac to dc? Please tell me in detail. Thanks in advance
Except headlamp all other electricals are DC, like indicators and parking light. You need to transfer the plug to DC circuit, some additional connectors are required.
Any good local mechanic will do the job easily. I think labour charge should not be more than 200.------------------

Servicing done After 15000 km,
ChainKit changed : 893
Break pada: front: 738, Rear : 537

Changed Air Filter at home
New and old filters.

Honda service is really Arshole. They charged consumed material for CBR and then on pointing reduced from 135 to 60.
They also charged for labour separately disc break setup 150, and sporklet 200.
I mean WTF, in servicing charges of 500 they just check and nothing else and waterwash.------------------

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
No, fuel will not cut.Originally posted by adityagaur51 View PostHey guys is there redline rpm cut for hornet 160... Does the engine cut fuel supply when the engine rpm is at redline...???
Red line mean you are putting too much pressure on engine. Piston is pumping at rate more than the limit of engine capacity. Touching red line in a while is recommended but don't keep riding on red or try to get past it.
You should reduce the throttle otherwise Engine gets stall or seized or complete failure.
If you have played NFS , you remember that best shift point is just before red line and if you continued red line throttle , engine gets busted.Last edited by anoopkumar0; 01-12-2018, 12:11 PM.------------------

Yes you need to change the Flasher relay if installing LED turn indicators or installing Hazard light, I've installed both LEDs + Hazard, I'm sharing a link, Buy the same flasher if anyone is facing issue.Originally posted by Parag Sharma View PostDo we need to change the stock flasher while installing hazard light switch in hornet ??
