As a current Suzuki owner (GS150R), I myself won't go for the Gixxer in spite of knowing it is the best middle-class-affordable 150-160cc bike available in India. There are only two negatives on the Hornet (Compared to Gixxer).

#1 Switchgear. This is not exactly cost-cutting. Actually, these type of switches were found on the international versions of CBR150R of the Flintstone age. They are just sticking to their effective but super-outdated design.

#2 Normal chain, uncovered. Only thing we can do is to let the factory set wear out prematurely and then fit a compatible o-ring chain. For e.g., Honda's own Dazzler came with a 126-link o-ring chain; so one might be able to convince the SVC to fit that and still stay in warranty.

Gixxer is slightly more fun to drive like all the Suzukis. It has bells and whistles like gear position indicator and shift-up light. They are just that - bells and whistles. One of us had to wait a full week to get a clutch cable replaced for the GS. At times, I have been told "We dont have oil filter in stock". If one plans a simple DIY, getting a fork oil seal or a specific bolt would be PIT_.

Don't hurry up and book something. TD all vehicles of the class you prefer (Gixxer 155, FZ V2.0, RTR160, Hornet 160R) and you may never know which one would steal your heart and mind.

My pick for you in this segment is the Hornet 160R or FZ V2.0.

I too have suzuki gs150 r and clocked 2,00,000+, 8 yrs and is fine till now.
No bike can compete with the reliability that Suzuki offers after hornet experience.
Previous to Gs150 r we were having unicorn 150 and that was phenomenaly smooth and no issues were there.

After all experiences I found Suzuki to be better than Honda now...

There isn't a need to start the engine either, just move the vehicle forward slowly and you can hear a screeching noise that's similar to the ones made by older vehicles when they apply brakes. The ASC washed the disc plate with some detergent and water with the wheel rotating. It went away for a few days, but from the last couple of days it's back.Anyone of you faced the same problem in your bike? Any solutions for this.
As the bike is new, it will go by its own after a while.
      Have patience...

Thanks to all Of you For your feedback.
I just purchased Honda hornet in Sports red Special edition color.
Actually as i told in my previous posts i need bike with Good pillion seat. Because sometime i go market with my mom who sits one sided. So gixxer is big 'NO' for me. I have to choose between Hornet & Fzs. In both i chosen Hornet.
Gixxer indeed a good bike but in my city there is no showroom of suzuki. If i bought gixxer i have to go 130km just for service. So again big 'NO' For gixxer. As i am not a speed freak, I'm upgrading from my dad's splendor Pro. After riding Hornet i didn't got any low end pickup issues.
I just got only 1 issue in my new Hornet which was getting some noise from rear Disck It's like 'Khaan-khaan'. Rest all are good.
You guys also got this sound in your new CBS modal Hornet? Please help my with your experience.

I will upload Special Edition Sport Red color photo soon as i am using Forum by mobile phone.

Once again, thanks for your support guys, i got this bike in on rode ₹1,00,200 including Accessories.

If you lube your chain on regular basis ie, 800 KM interval,it will last 20,000 KM +. My Pulsar chains lasted only 16,000-18,000 Km. Engine sound on higher rpm is an issue, but I think it's not an engine problem. Never believe paid writers and comment writers who never ride a Hornet. Hornet is not a SUPERB bike... but not a bad one.
Absolutely correct. I upgraded to Hornet from my 11year old Unicorn. I drove it for 37K kms and still it was with original chain sprocket set. Of course it had a chain cover. But I can say honda parts really lasts longer.

OMG. That's about 70 kms every day commute. Appreciate engine still running strong after 2L kms. I thought two wheeler engine life is about 1L kms and there will be engine work after that.

Please read again my post. The key point I raised was not longevity of the engine - It was availability of spares (something as simple as an oil filter, fork seals and clutch cable) and after sales service/number of service centers, etc. If lacs of kilometers logged is the only criteria, CD-Dawn (Sibun da's Joy has done close to 4 lacs), Karizma, Splendors, Tata Ace, Ashok Leyland - all are good buys. But not all people keep their bikes for lacs. Engine longevity of Hondas and Suzukis are well known from the Max 100R, Fiero, Hero Honda days.

In general, a motorcycle kept exclusively for touring will have lesser replacements per km than the one used extensively inside the city. I feel the overall ownership experience has to be considered (Ease of buying, owning, resale value, etc).

My experience is the opposite - Honda better than Suzuki.

Hats off to you for doing 2 lacs on GS. My pick is still the Hornet 160R/FZ.

Looks like initial setting issue. It should stop after few hundred kms as break pad sets in. Please try to put bike on main stand and try rotating wheel. Listen closely where the sound s comma from. It may be chain that is too tight aswell.

Hornet chain does not last long even if you maintain it properly, you will soon experience it. Honda should have provided O-ring chain on Hornet, not normal chain used with chain cover. My old Unicorn chain lasted more than 50000 km twice, without cutting, still space left for further tightening. Hornet chain may last 20000 km at most.

Loose tappet probably. See some Youtube video to confirm.
If yes, it's not big issue. Little loose is fine.
Show it to next servicing and fix it.

He is talking about the squeaks from the rear disc. They are due to sand/dust particles between the disc and pads - can be noticed when engine is off or the environment is really quiet. Common in ALL bikes whether front or rear disc. The holes in the disc serve to trap these particles well, in fact, according to a Honda Common Service Manual, holes on the disc serve this purpose mainly apart from dissipation of heat to some extent.

The only known treatment is soapy water wash and rinsing with the help of a garden hose (stream of water to be aimed at the space between pads and disc) while spinning the wheel.

Finally did the treatment for that "squeaking" noise from the rear disc. The ASC had told that the noise is coming due to dust particles which is stuck in the disc.I tried washing the disc while rotating the rear wheel with surf water a and a cloth. But it was coming again and again. Finally today took it to the local mechanic. What he said that the rear wheel was not aligned in a straight line hence was making the noise. He adjusted the rear wheel and now the noise seems to have vanished.cant trust this particular ASC anymore.

The sound vanished for a few days, no? Might not be alignment then - also, the caliper usually aligns itself with the wheel even if the wheel is not aligned properly but I might be wrong on this. Change SVCs if you want, but do service with them to stay in warranty.

Can someone tell me where the speed sensor is fitted in the 160R?
