It may not be a great looker but man its fun to ride and overtake.
RTR 180 is great. My first any uphill with pillion was nandi hills it was sweet. It was my first ride over 100 for like a 1-2 min.
But I disliked the posture of RTR and felt painful to me.

As far, Hornet it not bad either. In my view it's fine. Only issue is bracket slot for low gears.

Though rear brakes don't stop any (non cruiser) bike and are meant to just add stability while braking, they should not appear entirely wooden when applied. There's a possibility that air is already in the brake lines. Get brake lines bled with new brake fluid, preferably DOT 4 (and above, if available).
Thanks Divya sharan, I will check with service center again.

        1. Bike feels smooth at 80-85 speeds on shell ax7 when compared to the 10-30 Honda mineral oil
        2. Braking is excellent, almost crashed a pig at 70ish speeds, thanks to the brakes
        3. Bike takes its own time to reach 80kmph, specially from 60-80kmph
        4. Overtaking is a big letdown on a 2 lane highway with moderate traffic
        5. And I only got 37kmpl, mileage problem is there right from the beginning
Should get the carb tuned in near future

Same case with me.Milage will be low if we constantly drive 85+ throughout the ride.I have covered 3 long rides of 250 km,the mileage was 38,40,41 kmpl for those 3 rides, normally bike returns near about 48~53. I don't think it's problem if we rev hard milage gonna come down for sure

1.How fast can I go in 5th gear and still get good mileage?
          2. How long can I drive at 100kmph without engine getting super hot? As there is no temp indicator?

          Please answer these questions Sir.

on 5th gear you can take bike till 115
you will feel if bike starts making noises or if engine struggles at 100 kmph speed

many times I ride at 100 on highways for 40-50 km straight
then i take it down to 80-90

When I throttle to higher rpms without shifting, say when I take my bike to 5k rpm in 3rd gear and let off the throttle I feel a sudden jerk(sort of a sudden braking effect) just like when you rev up in first gear and let go of the gas. It happens even when you try to throttle when your bike is moving at it's base speed in first gear(6 kmph), you'll feel a slight sudden jerk. I don't know if I'm conveying it right, it's a sudden change in torque that you feel.
Is that because of engine running lean?
Also, what's a good throttle response? How do I know if my bike has it?

It happens to every bike when you race the throttle and let off the throttle it's expected.. hold the clutch and you will see the wheel would role freely . Good throttle is when you race you immediately have response from the engine. If you see a delay between you racing and the engine to react immediately it's not a good response. This bike needs time and not very quick at feat so you will see a lag it's common.

Guys I went to the ASC today and gave my bike Hornet for repairs 3rd time in the last 1month of purchase. Engine feels very rough after warms up . Engine sound and vibration issue . The bike will be with them for a week or so . I m really disappointed with Honda for making this such a bad experience. Surly I would not personally recommend nor buy any Hondas in future.

Don't be so harsh on Honda. Hornet may be a one off product which has so many (engine related) issues and I'm sure the next batch will have improved products based on all complaints.
Yes a Honda doesn't deserve the respect today that it deserved 15-20 years ago, but the same company churns out great VFM products like CBR 250R and Honda City (both engine wise).
The 1st batch is like a hit or a miss. Its always a miss in most cases. So yes, bad luck in your case. Just have some perseverance and follow up with SVC regularly. Don't let them fool around for a week before getting an update.

See, its too early to judge. You have covered just 800+kms. Your bike is in break in period. Every bike feels rough and vibey during run in period. Actually you cannot do anything about it. It will get smooth(er) as you clock more and more kms. You already got some of the engine components replaced but harshness is still there, so I dont think there is something wrong in the engine. Dont worry, ride more and more and your problem will solve.

Hopefully it does .. But surely it's a problem and thats what made the guys change engine parts in first two service . The mechanic did take test ride and confirmed it's an issue.

I'm hating this bike's kickstart more and more. Our 10 year old passion starts in one kick. I'm a fan of kickstart, and this one's got such a crappy one in place, it's more like a hindrance to starting the engine. In public places, i feel very embarrassing. I have this big muscular bike and people are quietly eyeing it and when I try to start it, it gives that sound when the ignition is turned off. 5 kicks, it doesn't start at all. Finally I had to thumb the electric starter and roll off while people were rolling their eyes. Such a let down. From a third person's perspective it would look like I don't even know how to kickstart a bike and yet I'm riding a Hornet! 😤😤

Do you use choke while kickstarting?
With choke it doesnt start easily.

Without choke it starts with a single kick.

I gave up on choke long back. It's totally useless. Only once it worked

Is the ASC better at tuning(readjusting, more specifically) the carburetor or should I just visit my local mechanic?
