Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
I think the new sprocket costs about ₹1200. Usually naked chain sprocket set lasts for about 15K to 20K kms if it is regularly cleaned and oiled. 10K is a premature wear-out. Meaning, it may not be given proper attention.Originally posted by Venuinturi View Post

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Hi guys.. I'm thinking of getting Hornet and have a few questions..
1) I read somewhere in this thread that Hornet with CBS is not helping cornering. Is it true? Why?
2) Does Hornet feel more planted to the ground (stable on higher speeds) than Gixxer during highway rides @90+kmph?
3) I don't know why Honda stopped selling Hornet in mono colours :'( Does the 2017 Hornet have DC headlamps (as it has AHO feature)?
4) Headlight throw and spread between Gixxer and Hornet?
Hoping for answers from experience

You were right I haven't taken good care of my bike's chain having this as my first bike. Though kept the bike clean and riding in lower speeds. Have to take a little extra care for the chain. Hope that helps with a better better mileage.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Hi Guys,
M planning to buy Hornet (Matt black with Orange stripes) within next 2 days. I had been to the showroom today. - Dhruvdesh Honda, Yelahanka, Bangalore. In the additional accessories, there were a few things on which I wanted some clarity.
1. There is Teflon coating in the extras mentioned which they are suggesting me to take which is around 2K charges. As it's Matt finish bike, I asked him what's use of Teflon coating and didn't get a convincing response. Is it good to take the Teflon coating done? Or should I skip taking it?
2. Also there is no engine guard being provided. He showroom executive told me that the company itself doesn't provide engine guard for Hornet. Is that true ? I would prefer having a engine guard as I travel daily around 70+ kms to work.
3. I need a ladies footrest on my bike. (Or my wife & mom will kill me :P ) Any of you know where I can get it nearby Yelahanka itself ?

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Bro don't go for Teflon coating as hornet doesn't have metal body. I have taken that Teflon package. I have done Teflon coating but whole bike's fibre part became white. When I went back to ASC, they told me that Hornet doesn't support Teflon coating. Then the wiped out whole white body by using chain cleaner. I have wasted money. Use normal dashboard polish. Don't go for Teflon.Originally posted by swapnilkhot View PostHi Guys,

1. Doesn't make sense going for Teflon coating as replacing panel will be cheaper as bike gets older.Originally posted by swapnilkhot View PostHi Guys,

2. You can go for engine guard of unicorn. However, Dhruvdesh service technician said it may cause vibration. Hence I dropped the idea. However, I fixed a mud flap to my Hornet. I will post the pictures soon.
3. you can fix it with help of external mechanic. Please scroll down to find a post on this thread regarding ladies foot rest.

1) Never apply breaks while cornering. Apply breaks and reduce speed before you enter a curve/turn. Or you can be on engine breaking. Expert stunt drivers can do this as they skid they take a turn but not advisable for normal commuter and on normal busy road. CBS is definitely help bike stability. Regardless of this, you should always apply both front and rear breaks when in high speed.Originally posted by Angurj View PostHi guys.. I'm thinking of getting Hornet and have a few questions..

2) Hornet gives pretty much confidence due to its wide tyres and good breaks gives confidence while riding at high speed. I haven't driven Gixxer.
3) You can peal off those stickers :-) Yes. I definitely missed buying mono colour (Orange one).
Yes, Hornet or any new bikes must have AHO as per road safety policy. And it is on AC. Parking lights, Break lights and speedo console and horn on DC.
4)Hornet head light is not that great for highways. But city riding it should be fine. You could opt for upgrading the headlight. But it will void warranty.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Tried fixing a mud flap to front wheel fender. Not sure how long this will lost. I assume this will definitely reduce dirt spraying on engine by 50%.
Total expense ₹25 and 15 minutes of effort.
Used double side sticker to stick this. Cleaned the surface throughly before sticking. If this doesn't lasts longer, then I will go with stronger adhesive. Will share the review in few days to see if it's effective.

Really helpful.
Others! Can you say which bije has better brakes? Gixxer (double disc) vs Hornet (non-CBS version)?

Gixxer launched with ABS! Surely the best breaking bike in 150 CC segment. Highly recommended if you're under 6 feet.Originally posted by Angurj View PostThanks for the answers bro

I've done fair amount of cornering in almost all ghat area nearby Mumbai and Pune!Originally posted by DigantRai View Post1. Doesn't make sense going for Teflon coating as replacing panel will be cheaper as bike gets older.

Firstly keep in mind, Hornet is commuter-sports bike and it's not intended for sharp cornering like Duke and Ninja does. However, as Hornet has same size of tyres, one can attempt cornering with extra efforts.
Hornet comes with MRF Nylogrip, not recommended for high grip unlike Metzler. So make sure the surface has good grip and mainly tar road. Cement roads are strictly no.
If you need to break mid-corner, front brake is paramount as you can still keep acceleration in rear tyre. But in certain cases, if you apply rear brake then CBS activates both brakes and unfortunately CBS braking ratio isn't 1:1, it's more on rear than on front.
In difficult situations, ABS and traction control help while you go mid corner crisis. I've been in one situation where corner wound up faster than expected and I had to brake bike harder than required. Luckily, I didn't slip and I learnt lesson!
Once a time I leaned so much that toe of my left foot touched and that's the max high speed cornering I did on one Highway! [emoji41]
Always make sure to wear proper gear and ride safe! Cheers![emoji111]
