What is the city/highway mileage you are getting?Originally posted by #bpk View PostThe test ride bike (hornet) even felt more punchy than gixxer, i think honda guys may have tuned something on the test ride bike, actually i was unaware of xbhp . After purchasing only i came to know about xbhp. But hornet is way more comfortable than fz or gixxer, looks macho and even elderly person like my father also can sit as pillion. Whereas in fz and gixxer pillion comfort is compromised, also after 50kmph the raw power of hornet starts and i love that. In short hornet is the most practical streetfighter available in india. Also mileage is supppppeeeerrrrbbbb [emoji8][emoji23]
Also let me know, Is any mileage difference observed on HP/ Bharat petroleum/Indian oil in overall bikes...?

I used to get about 50-52 with highway riding and filled mostly at HP or Reliance pumps. They're known for non-adulteration here. I used both the full tank & reserve to reserve method to determine the FE.Originally posted by gowthamh View PostWhat is the city/highway mileage you are getting?

Cant agree more.Originally posted by gowthamh View PostYes , agreed... But unfortunately hornet users (including me) has to get habitual with shifting gears in low RPM, once u got familiar with it, you will be ok about it.. but at the end of day hornet puts a smile on me for below qualities
1. Beasty look, sure a head turner
2. Will get a feel like riding in bulky/macho bike
3. Smoothness in midrange
4. Stability
5. Strong braking
6. No vibrations
7. No back pains
8. Because of its lesser length , we can easily pass through gaps in traffic
9. Riding position is a good one
Even before buying I was having three options (fz, gixxer, hornet)
I rejected other two bikes for below reasons.
1. Fz - bored of its look as high number of fz/fzs are already in road.
2. Gixxer - pillion seat is useless, ground clearance is bad than hornet, I don't like it's headlight design
I read several reviews of hornet before buying it and I was aware that it's having low power in low RPM, but still am ok with it. It's looks, midrange smoothness, stability ,braking are enough for me.
Also am familiar with low power _ low RPM in hornet. As I got habitual in shifting gears in low RPM.
My hornet manages to put a smile on my face as I rev through a free patch of road [emoji4]
Gixxer could be good but pillion seat is useless and it looks very small. I'm 6' tall and gixxer wouldn't suit me. And fz is a decade old style, I sure loved it when it was first launched but now, like EVERY one has an fz.

What was your cruise speed on those 50-52 kmpl runs? Was there much difference between full tank & reserve to reserve method readings?Originally posted by Bismaya View PostI used to get about 50-52 with highway riding and filled mostly at HP or Reliance pumps. Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
As per my observation, speed should be 60 to 80 kmph for getting around 50 kmpl, if limit exceeds mileage drops..Originally posted by ashwanth.r View PostWhat was your cruise speed on those 50-52 kmpl runs? Was there much difference between full tank & reserve to reserve method readings?
When I rode bike in constant of 100 to 123 , got mileage of 35kmpl

In city i am getting 48kmpl (with occasional ride with pillion). I've just completed 1st servicing. I've not yet calculated highway mileageOriginally posted by gowthamh View PostWhat is the city/highway mileage you are getting?

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Hello guys,
my hornet's rear braking has become pretty much a hit and miss.
Sometimes the brakes get applied correctly, and sometimes I need to press it down with a lot of force.
A local mechanic inspected the rear brake and said that it is happening due to the faulty brake adjusting nut.
He said the nut has worn out and I need to change it from the authorized service center as he did not have it.
The ASC guy told me (without inspecting the brake) that the brake rod also needs to be changed.
So please tell me, do I really need to change the complete brake rod?
Also, I need to change my bike's chain and sprocket.
Should I go with 2018 model's sprocket kit?
What are the benefits, apart from the low maintenance of chain?
Will it increase the pickup of the bike?
Will it solve the chain noise problem?
Be happy and a reason will come along !

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Yesterday I hit a speed breaker(some morons laid it after sunset and left without any sign or lighting) at 60kmph at night. I am almost sure that it's going to be a crash. Then this machine landed back like cat from wall with so much of lithe and then this CBS did some amazing work. I still can't believe that I escaped a certain crash. This bike is super stable. At least some minimal damage on front wheel but I don't see any.
Hornet is incomplete without a CBS/ABS.!!!

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
My friend's Hornet which I ride often had this issue. The ASC said that it's a part of the rear drum, shoes and rod that need replacement and would cost about 9000. His rear drum is even useless than any commuter motorcycle and even the bike wasn't sufficient when we bought it back in 2016 (Jan) when there weren't any versions available here with rear disc. It's a shame that the Gixxer is far better with rear drum, so is the FZ.Originally posted by FreeSpiritedBiker View PostHello guys,

Mostly around 65 and at times about 70 (sometimes even in 4th gear).Originally posted by ashwanth.r View PostWhat was your cruise speed on those 50-52 kmpl runs? Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Don't expect anything significant from this drum for speeds >30 kmph. How much kms on the odometer? Can you photo the brake wear indicator?Originally posted by FreeSpiritedBiker View PostHello guys, my hornet's rear braking has become pretty much a hit and miss. Firstly, see if the shoes are worn out. If yes, replace the shoes and the springs - while this is being done, the lining has to be cleaned to remove dirt and greasy material. The cam itself should be removed, cleaned and greased otherwise the brake will be "sticky". If the shoes are not worn, clean the lining, lube the cam and adjust the brake - that's it. If the brake rod is bent, or if it's threads have gone, then replace it along with the adjusting nut. The rod won't be costly - should be 50-100/- INR. Always maintain necessary free play otherwise the lining which is supposed to last for atleast 1 lakh kms or more will be eaten up and the only option in that case will be to replace the alloy.A local mechanic inspected the rear brake and said that it is happening due to the faulty brake adjusting nut. 2018, definitely. It has endless chain - if possible, ask them to re-grease swingarm bearings while doing the chain. Also, I need to change my bike's chain and sprocket. Should I go with 2018 model's sprocket kit?
It is not exactly low maintenance - one needs to periodically clean, lube and adjust. The frequency of "adjusting" is lesser than a conventional chain, in other words, it doesn't wear out easily. Cleaning and lubing frequency depends on your use - rain, dust, village/suburban roads -> chain gets dirty/loses lube sooner. What are the benefits, apart from the low maintenance of chain?
No, gear ratio is same. Will it increase the pickup of the bike?
I leave that to owners but from what I have observed from the high perched window seat of a public transport bus, *all* open chains are noisy. Will it solve the chain noise problem?Last edited by ashwanth.r; 09-08-2018, 08:20 PM.
