Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
When you set the RPM while bike is hot, then cold RPM becomes 1000. It's a RPM where bike doesn't shut offOriginally posted by Ravii View PostWhat should be cold idle rpm??

RPM will be within 1K while it is cold. However, it goes to about 1400 when engine gets hotter.Originally posted by Ravii View PostWhat should be cold idle rpm??
For some one who has longer riding distance, they can reduce cold engine RPM considerably. However, for some one with lesser running can keep it at 1K RPM as it may be frustrating as engine switches off.

You can use WD40 to remove all the grease and dirt from the bike. You can use a old tooth brush to clean and wipe the residue with the cloth. repeat the process until you are satisfied. And then you could spray chain with Motul Chain Lube.Originally posted by mehtu View PostHi team,
I own a Honda Hornet 160R, recent past I noticed rust on my bike chain. I got nervous as it is a new motorcycle and only one service is done. I took it to Honda service center but they asked for 1000₹ for cleaning the chain. I came home because the price was quite high. I checked few of the YouTube videos and people suggest a lot of things like using petrol or kerosene or diesel mixed with petrol but they mentioned about the side effects of them too. This made me more cautious.
I have heard about wd 40 to remove rust which is good at it work. Also one of my friend who is a KTM user recommended to use Motul chain cleaner and lube.
So should I first use wd 40, then later clean the chain using Motul chain cleaner and the lubricate it? Will this be a good process? Or someone can suggest what would be the good method to get rid of rust and keep my chain maintained.
Any suggestion is much appreciated.
Thanks to all.

I do this every two weeks or 500kms or immediately after a rain. You need not have to take it to any mechanic. Or if you are willing to shell out some money take the bike to local mechanic, they use Kerosene to clean the chain and lube with some oil.

Thank you for the suggestion. I did use wd40 & then used motul chain cleaner and then applied chain lube. I am satisfied with the result..Originally posted by DigantRai View PostRPM will be within 1K while it is cold. However, it goes to about 1400 when engine gets hotter.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Can we use WD40 on other bike parts such as engine, exhaust pipe? They have accumulated a lot of dirt and it doesn't go away even after pressure wash. I want to make my bike look clean as new!Originally posted by DigantRai View PostRPM will be within 1K while it is cold. However, it goes to about 1400 when engine gets hotter.

Will the diesel wash be useful? Also does it get into disc break or other parts which shouldn't be washed with diesel or WD40?

Great to here. I have also completed more than 1.5 years with 12,500 ODO.Originally posted by Pranu7 View PostHi All, One year done on my hornet. No issues so far as I have taken care for oil change periodically and chain. I did changed air filter by myself at 10K ODO.
For Oil, go with Honda Throttle (CBR250 Oil, commonly known by mechanics). You can see little ▲ on tyre to indicate to change it before worn out this symbol.------------------

Thanks Anoop, thought to change air filter at 12k but when i checked with Honda mechanic they suggested that "its still working fine, so no need to change of air filter."Originally posted by anoopkumar0 View PostGreat to here. I have also completed more than 1.5 years with 12,500 ODO.

This time i need to change air filter and Oil. I am thinking change the chain at 20000km ODO.

It's advisable to wait until 10k km are completed. There have been detailed discussions on this in the thread in past.Originally posted by Ravii View PostWhen to shift to Honda Throttle fully synthetic oil...??

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
You can reach 100+ on mineral without any issues. How long 100+ can be maintained depends on lots of factors.Originally posted by Ravii View PostCan we try to reach higher speeds of 100+ km/hr with mineral oil in use ...?
or should we wait for shift to synthetic oil for the same??
Synthetic oil helps in engine cooling much better than mineral and overall lubrication level is good.

With mineral oil you will get more higher speed and throttle response specially after 85Kmph.
With synthetic oil, ride will become smoother and change interval Kms is twice (4-6k) interval. As friction is less. Engine life would be better. Gear shift is smoother.
It's not that mineral oil is not good but ride quality is definitely smoother with synthetic oil. If you don't like ride with synthetic oil you can go back to mineral oil without any issue.------------------

Surprising that mineral oil helps for top speed. Are you sure buddy? Did you ride in same conditions on mineral and synthetic?Originally posted by anoopkumar0 View PostHere is my experience,
