RTR200 is a superb city bike but i also intend to do a fair bit of touring.
for which i dont think rtr is very much suitable, considering lack of 6th gair and tvs giving most of juice in low and mid range.
Initially i wanted to go for Karizma R, but hero has ****ed up a very good machine IMHO.
Also considered going for a pre-worshipped '13 karizma.
but dont prefer to go for a used one

Thanx for a prompt reply, if you know would you let me know what's routine maintainance cost for pulsar AS200 is.
Like regular stuff for a 200CC liquid cooled which my 150CC air cooled doesnt need.
what is ballpark figure i should be prepared to spend apart from fuel cost..?
& Yes i agree that as200 is semi faired bike it would protect you from the wind blast on a highway but as u can see rtr200 isn't bad either!!Last edited by tanishq; 09-07-2016, 06:20 AM.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Gixxer 250 is already here. Improving mileage will only save TVS rtr 200 and other 200+ CC bikes.
Compare TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Vs Honda CB Hornet 160R Vs TVS Apache RTR 160 bikes

I haven't heard anything about it, please let me know.
Also afaik it will cost twice as much as Rtr200.
So don't know how it will be a problem for Rtr200

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
You could change either of pair of indicator bulbs to LEDs that would save you loads of power to play with.Originally posted by girimajiananth View PostHi, were you able to get this done. Please shed more light on this.
I have changed rear pair of indicators on my unicorn to LED bulbs.
Considering they are 21W and LEDs would be generally <5W, you can use that much power for fog lights.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Just want to add to John P Daniel's comments on this, that if you read carefully, you will know he is mainly speaking about the sports bikes. The key word for them are Pick-up and Speed. On the hindsight, they last a maximum of 2 - 3 seasons at best while the commuter bike concerned, we would definitely like them to last much much longer and the ideal keywords should be maintenance and mileage. Keeping this in mind, IMHO, its best to follow the traditional way of break-in which allows proper bedding by slow seasoning!!Originally posted by John P Daniel View PostIt's possible but the thing is, bikes built for Indian standard usually don't have such techs used in big bikes such as materials, separating power and drivetrains, etc. Afaik, the key to good run in is to maintain optimal temperature which is not easily possible in air cooled vehicles. These methods are possible mainly for liquid cooled ones. For air cooled vehicles, it depends on the temperature the engine is exposed to. Many i know have done run in this way on pulsars and apaches and while most were ok, some had issues. For my bike, I used mixed style with gentle throttling but higher speeds (upto 7k Rpm) before first service. The engine still sounds as good as new and runs great. But I change oil when engine was rough(1-1.5k kms). Just ride the bike normally without heavy throttling and it should be enough considering it's a "Honda" engine.

Great points to compare both bikes and durability.Originally posted by Agniv View PostJust want to add to John P Daniel's comments on this, that if you read carefully, you will know he is mainly speaking about the sports bikes. Btw, has anyone tried with different suspension setups? Can you please share how did bike feel on highway speeds
Was there any difference between front and rear suspensionRide hard, Ride safe! :D

FOR THE MILLIONTH TIME. WRITING IN CAPS FOR ALL THE PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO DON'T GET THE MESSAGE. DON'T MAINTAIN A SLOW BREAK IN. REV THE ENGINE. JUST DO NOT MAINTAIN A CONSTANT SPEED.Originally posted by leech View PostSorry to break the news to you, buddy, but your bike is screwed. You would lose mileage and performance slowly, until one day the engine suddenly seizes on you. Better put ad on OLX now itself.
That was a joke. I ran in my CBR with varying speeds and rpm. Tested the top speed before first service. A couple of friends told me my bike will get damaged by doing so, and might even seize on me. But nothing happened. Bike still good at 30k kms after 3.5 years.
Phew.. FYI I took to 100 on the second day. Still get an average of over 50 so i guess i'm right as always

LED is a million times better than HID. You need to power up the HID with your battery while the LED gives the same brightness while consuming much lesser power. LED all the wayOriginally posted by karan0011 View PostHi guys... can anybody tell is HID better than LED for Hornet... which has more light n focus

The rear shock is on the medium setting and the forks are a little tightened up. I usually am at 95kmph. No issues. Stable and easy to leanOriginally posted by vaRider View PostGreat points to compare both bikes and durability.

That's all i wanted to know over all the controversies. Can I or can I not take my bike to high rpms? Will it damage if i do so in the break in period? Now you're asking me to rev the engine. I would happily do that, just needed a guarantee....😋

[QUOTE=Suddy;1252024]While your bike is new, before revving up the engine just make sure to warm up bike by riding gently for few km and also use choke for 1st ignition.Originally posted by darthvader_omi View PostFOR THE MILLIONTH TIME. You can ride fast but don't ride hard. No sudden acceleration and no constant speed for long time say 3-5 min.Ride hard, Ride safe! :D

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
If you really need power go with rtr200. Engine feels very refined between 40-65. You won't even know that engine is running! So smooth! 😎Originally posted by Darshangowda View PostHi guys
Desided to go for hornet 160r instead of rtr 200 .
But hornet don't have kill switch will it be a problem.
How is engine refinement
Mileage. Plz guide me .
I have huge confusion which one to pick rtr200 or hornet 160r
On highway riding it gets noisy and viby. In this aspect rtr200 is much better as it can cruise 100+ all day long.
Acceleration of rtr is also great. Probably for city riding prefer Hornet. For Highway and cruising go with rtr200.
Rtr FI should be very refined and smooth
Fire on more questions.Ride hard, Ride safe! :D

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Hii guys,
I bought Honda Hornet (CBS) just 15 days ago, when I am gearing down from high speed my gears are seemed to be locked. I had to release the clutch a little bit to get the gears down. Even some times released the clutch to downgrade to 3rd and same happened for the 2nd at that same time. I don't know what is wrong with the gears.....Last edited by Saikat Kr Dhar; 09-08-2016, 11:20 PM.
