Checked the documents. Everything was in order. Surprisingly owners manual was also there with first service coupon torn up(thats the way dealer uses the coupons I believe).

Bike is still in showroom condition except for some scratches on exhaust cover.

Strangely, I observed some scratches on engine. Any suggestions? Should I walk away due to this?

Scratch on engine looks shady to me. If other service coupons are there then it's okay..

75K is still a hefty price to take risk. Ask for 60K or go with new one. bargain hard.

        Hi BHPians,

I recently joined XBHP as friend suggested me its a good forum to learn more about your bike, share experiences, ask questions.
I do not own a bike but planning to, no I've decided to buy CB Hornet 160R.
I know how to ride motorcycle as many of friends have it and I used to borrow whenever I had stuff to do.
Due to my circumstances was not able to buy one. But as I am 'on my feet' now I can surely get my own!

I was reading this thread for quite a long time and I thought before pulling the trigger I can surely ask few questions to clear my head and convince myself to buy it!

        Questions:

        1) As an Indian consumer (a proud one! ) I researched hard, very hard. Every page, ownership reviews, first rides etc. One thing that I noticed in common is that the bike faces Engine noise issue and knocking during run in period before 1st service. Is this true?

        2) Engine oil is an issue as I read people having good experience with multiple grade oils and brands. Which one is the best?

        3) The new matte color is drool worthy, but I fear it'll wear out soon. Is matte finish more prone to scratches?

        4) What is the PDI, do you guys have any particular list in mind or refer to ?

Thanks in advance. Enjoy your bike and ride safe.

Ans: Keep the bike in proper gear and engine knocking and lugging goes away. Heating of the engine during first few thousand kms is normal, as the new engine polishes itself and gets used to running. Follow proper riding techniques and everything will be fine.

          2) Engine oil is an issue as I read people having good experience with multiple grade oils and brands. Which one is the best?
Ans: If you so not have proper knowledge about engine oils, stick with the one that is recommended by the company. They have designed, developed and manufactured the bike, they know what is best for it. Anyways the first year services are free, and you have to do it at authorized service centers to keep the warranty intact. So they will take care of everything, you just have to pay for the consumable. Use this one year to acquire more knowledge, then make the decision, else stick with company recommended.

          3) The new matte color is drool worthy, but I fear it'll wear out soon. Is matte finish more prone to scratches?
Ans: Yes matte gets scratches and the scratches are very much visible. Nothing you can do about it. have to live with it .

          4) What is the PDI, do you guys have any particular list in mind or refer to ?

Just to add to Ankey's reply, please refrain from using High Octane Petrol, at least in the run-in period (which the showroom owner told me during vehicle delivery); Might come in handy

            Matt color is prone to scratches and you ideally cannot put the 3m PPP as well (as that will turn the look to watery); Also, dont use too much of wax. Pls search on google for matt color maintenance;

Have a happy and enjoyable ride ahead!!

Feel the scratches and see if it is just paint chip or accident damage. Also feel the rest of the bike for any damage that might be covered up.

Shit happened! Just to give you an idea how fragile the bike is, I slipped on the highway in rain at 5 in the morning. I was in run in period and was driving at 42kmph
The frontal chassis bent. Mudguard broken.I got a insurance claim of 23000 for this. Whole process will take 15 days.
I mean didn't even hit anything but the quality of metals used makes me sad after investing 96k in honda.

You cannot blame this bike alone. Now every product has become so fragile. As inflation goes in high we are paying high and getting less quality everywhere. What i wondering is how that bike has lost its balance in that low speed?

Hey are you okay? Did you get any injuries.
It's scary that just slippage caused this much damage. Take care..

It's understandable if you feel scared to ride again... 😢😖

i understand i am a couple of days late, but i am surprised at the torn 1st service coupon. in fact, the first service, which is at 1000 km is critically important. the engine has just completed the run in, and the oil is full of metal shavings, which need to be removed. So i suggest you take this matter up with the dealer.

I'm ok thanks to the safety gears. My helmet is scratched but thank god it was ON. I had a raincoat on but it got torn and even my pant was torn at the location of right knee thereby hurting Me in the knee. I did a forward roll on the road after falling from the bike. I got up alone in the dark but The most shocking thing was seeing the bike afterwards in that damaged condition. I earn 15k per month and spent a fortune on buying this, so my heart broke not from the injuries but from seeing the bike in this condition.
I waited on that highway for 2 hours till the garage nearby opened. He advised me not to repair anything so as to get claim via insurance. So I took the bike in tempo to authorised seller.
One more thing, I didn't hit anything only the road was bad. the scary part is imagining what would have happened if I was driving about 80-90!! Also I was lucky no truck was behind me while this happened because I was flat on road for like 5 seconds. Thank you for the comments friends, I'm okay but yes scared for my next ride a little bit.

I'll elaborate the accident a little bit more. I was taking a turn on national highway while an oncoming truck didn't use dipper on my repeated clicks on dipper. It was also raining heavily and thus my visor was wet. Due to the high beam I could not realize that I left the main road and got in the side which was not RCC. I hate the shitty headlights. I really do. I wish hornet had better lights so I would have been safe that day.
Coming back to incident, I suddenly saw a tree on the side of the road in front of me. I just had a millisecond to react so I pressed both the brakes hardly and bike fell to the right and I slipped longer than the bike and rolled once.
