  • Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences

It's been over 7k after changing break pads.
I noticed a groove on rear disc pads (see the red encircle). However it is uniform on all petals.
There is no such groove in front disc. Should I be worried?

Unless there's premature scuffing on the pad, it would be best to ignore.

      Here's what premature scuffing looks like;

      Motorcycling Experience:
      2000 ~ 2017 Y2K Kinetic Zoom (Disposed at 15k)
      2011 ~ 2015 Hero Honda Karizma R (Sold at 56.5k)
      2013 ~ 2014 Bajaj Discover 100 4G (Sold at 16.5k)
      2015 ~ 2017 TVS Wego (Totaled at 18k)
      2015 - Bajaj Pulsar 220F (Currently 31k) < Garage Queen!
      2017 - Bajaj CT100B (Currently 21k) < 'Golden Quadrilateral' Runner!

The Ride was Good, but Life is short, spend it Wisely!
      Adios Comrades!

You start losing torque, engine revs more while less on acceleration at that rev range and the chain stars to rattle even more, not to mention that the bike feels somewhat unstable due to the power low end engine adjustment. I almost slipped once when riding at about 30 and taking a turn, had to suddenly brake but the response was somewhat poor due to the improper acceleration. The bike slipped and I stood up unhurt but the wheel was still spinning even after the bike feel. The good part was that the bike didn't even have a single scratch. After that my friend who owns the bike always made sure that the chain was adjusted and lubed well at every 800kms.

            Report on 36,000 + kms and 2Yrs 9 months….

I have completed 36,750km and 2 yrs and 9 months with my Hornet. No issues so far… riding 2 set of tyres on both end. Chain and sprocket also changed one time. Front brake pad also changed (CBS model). Malfunctioned indicator relay also changed. I have only one complained ….. unskilled workers in Honda ASC Kochi. Most of them are “ Bengali’s”( Bangladesh migrants ). After 36,000 km service as usual I have to adjust my over tighten chain at a local workshop. After my periodic service, I rode only 100 km, my bike had lost its smoothness. Chain and wheel became very hard to run…. Reason : over tightened chain. Same issue happened 3 times from the same ASC. 90 % of vehicles in ASC are Activa and they need just a water wash and oil change. no skilled laboures required in ASC.

Same thing happened with me on my 2018 hornet, stupid mechanic over tightened my chain, and bike became rough, gears became hard, after that i read user manual checked chain slackness myself, and adjusted chain by outside mechanic.

Guys tell me one thing, In hornet for increasing the power delivery in low RPM, if we use some better engine oil whether it helps (but it shouldn't have a affect on mileage and engine condition)...?
Also what other alternatives we can consider replacing for increasing power - tires / chain / what else?

Why you want to that .
Metal would crack due to sudden temperature difference.
If you think engine would get cool quickly it won't happen. It has to cool on it's own.

No it's rained here heavily , so when i was going beside a pond on road some car guy drove very fast and all water spilled on engine and it's got evaporated immediately ,
But i think now days all engine outsells come with aluminum that won't break, after all this is a common scenario manufacture though of before. in rainy seasons it's not possible to keep the engine away from water right.

That would fine. I thought you are trying to cool engine. You see such situation when riding in pool of rain water.
In this thread someone asked to cool silencer as it makes sound of tick-tick after ride.

Till now I went to Vaishnoi Honda Kondapur. They also charge without informing beforehand like chain lube and nitrogen gas , WTF. Their chain lube job is shit, looks like they don't even do it.

But if service center is big and if they service bigger bike I think all center are that kind of only.
Things to take take when giving bike to service.
                              1. Note down on paper, what's needs to done.
                              2. Ask each charges and tell and write clearly to not to add anything chargeable item.

This time, I am thinking to go with nearby, Lingampalli small service center. There is no issue with bike just regular check up.

Since you bring the issue, Do you guys think carburetor should be cleaned every service?
The last time when I had heated discussion mechanic accepted that they don't open curb unless there is major complaint.

as per my knowledge it' not required to clean carburetor (fuel injectors need more cleaning than carburetor) every service but they need to check but they don't, now a days most of the petrol bunks are not reliable, so better use some valves clean kind of solution every 3-5K kilometers .
